To think you can't reserve places in the Aldi queue

Another shopper had placed their bags in the queue before wandering off to get the trolley.

They expected to return to where the bags were rather than go to the end of the queue.

Were they being a bit CF?

I thought you were going to say someone reserved a place for a friend but just to get a trolley that's fine.

borntobequiet · 10/05/2020 13:01

don’t jump their bones
Agree with this.

when is the general quiet time in Aldi nowadays? I haven't been since lockdown (been using the gun at Tesco) as heard it was like Picadilly Circus at many Aldi stores.

I go at about 8:30pm and never have to queue.

WaxOnFeckOff · 10/05/2020 13:10

I had to queue for the first time last week, I got out the car and just went and joined the queue and then realised most folk had trolleys and I hadn't got one. I just waited until i was at the point of getting to enter the store and took one from there but it wouldn't have bothered me if someone placed their bags and then realised they needed a trolley and went and got on but to be honest the queue was pretty much in constant motion so either a gap would develop or people would just move forward and leave the bags so effectively there wouldn't be much of an advantage.

I'm quite a stickler but this wouldn't bother me to be honest. She's arrived at that point and sounds like maybe just forgot to grab a trolley.

Yeah except jump someone's bones means to have sex with them Grin

jessicarabbit27 · 10/05/2020 13:12

What if you need the loo while waiting in line? I think the shop would let you go in but who would move your trolley?

EverdeRose · 10/05/2020 13:17

I don't think she was hugely unreasonable, she just sounds like someone who forgot their trolley and thought I'll nip and grab one.
It's not like she drove home or went to the pub and expected her space reserved.

Quite popular near me is the nip out of the queue to have a cig, I can't get wound up about that either, i'm just happy not to breathe in the smoke.

quarantinevibes · 10/05/2020 13:18

I’m not sure it depends. If you can see someone’s genuinely stood in the queue for a while and then realised they need a trolly and ran to grab one, fine. Some CF running to the queue leaving their bag and going to get a trolly id be a bit Hmm as I wouldn’t do this myself. But still wouldn’t say anything, I’m not arguing over 1 space in the queue.

ParkheadParadise · 10/05/2020 13:25

Really!
Where I live no one would bother about something like that. I've seen several people forget to get a trolley or left their bags in the car they just say to the person beside them I'll be back in a minute.

borntobequiet · 10/05/2020 13:25

Exactly what I meant, Codename.
Don’t have sex with them just because they left their bags in the queue...

Breastfeedingworries · 10/05/2020 13:27

At our Aldi you que, and then there’s a member of staff who asks if you want a trolly what size of basket ect and hands you one that handles been sterilised...seems to work well.

Feels like you are queuing for a ride at Alton in those lane queues lol 😂

SoupDragon · 10/05/2020 13:27

been using the gun at Tesco

I know it's stressful but isn't shooting people taking it too far?

Lynda07 · 10/05/2020 13:29

Is this thread for real?

PickUpAPickUpAPenguin · 10/05/2020 13:32

If you mean the queue outside the yabu. I've had the person in front of me say that they will be back with a trolley or quickly nip to their car for more bags so I don't move forward into their space. Since they arrived before me and I assumed that I'd be entering the store after them then I can honestly say that I don't care at all.

If the person went to another shop and left their bags that would be taking the piss.

Walkingthedog46 · 10/05/2020 13:37

I’ve seen ‘place keeping’ in the queue at the checkout. A man was standing in the (long) queue with no trolly or basket, and just before he reached the end, a woman rocked up with a massive trolly full of stuff and took his place!

FliesandPies · 10/05/2020 13:39

If you can see someone’s genuinely stood in the queue for a while and then realised they need a trolly and ran to grab one, fine. Some CF running to the queue leaving their bag and going to get a trolly id be a bit hmm

What on earth difference does it make?

Snaga · 10/05/2020 13:46

I do get wound up about queue jumpers, especially ones that have their space "reserved" by Doris or Fred and for them to saunter in just at the right moment.

However even my permanently annoyed with the world outlook thanks to lockdown would struggle to be pissed off at someone grabbing their trolley whilst their bags "kept" their spot for them.

Definitely not CF territory.

Snaga · 10/05/2020 13:47

I'm now wondering just how much angrier with the world I'd need to be to even consider this a problem?

LondonJax · 10/05/2020 13:59

I'm a bit on the fence to be honest.

Our local Tesco have now started to sanitise the trolleys outside and hand them to you as you get close to the doors if you're queuing.

Having just got my head around that, it's quite possible I'd just get in the queue - without a trolley - then realise I needed to get one at a different supermarket. I suppose it's possible that she's used to a different system elsewhere?

itbemay1 · 10/05/2020 14:16

She went to get a trolley not to go to another shop or sit in the car!

WikkiTikkiWoo · 10/05/2020 14:24

She went to get a trolley. Not go and have a nice quiet rest in the car.

I am doing a MASSIVE eye roll here.

TheCatsWhisker · 10/05/2020 17:53

I wouldn't give a fuck.

All this petty crap about people breaking unwritten rules is starting to make me despair.

Seriously, find something genuine to get worked up about.

MagnoliaJustice · 10/05/2020 20:41

I'm loving the fact that someone on this thread is unaware that the phrase to jump someone's bones means to shag them. Grin

Now that's behaviour I really wouldn't want to see in the supermarket queue, not in these social distancing times...
