I mean, they’re still working to save lives every week, so yes. Quite happy to.

ImFreeToDoWhatIWant · 06/05/2020 18:16

Never have, never will.

Glitterb · 06/05/2020 18:19

No I’m not. It’s become ridiculous where I live with fireworks and musical instruments. It terrifies my dog half to death and it’s become a competition to who can make the most noise.

I think the NHS is great and thank them massively for their efforts throughout this, however clapping is not going to help them in my opinion

Sunshineeeee · 06/05/2020 18:21

@Glitterb the fireworks -.-! I dread Thursdays as I know they'll wake my baby unnecessarily.

BirdieFriendReturns · 06/05/2020 18:22

I haven’t and won’t. Other people can clap if they wish.

We aren’t being sent to re-programming claps for not clapping. Yet.

BirdieFriendReturns · 06/05/2020 18:22

Camps* not claps.

Chesneyhawkes1 · 06/05/2020 18:23

I am. Mainly because at the moment I go to hospital every day Monday to Friday for treatment. I'm thankful for that treatment and I know they can't hear me, but when I clap I'm thinking of my nurses and radio therapists.

Silly I know.

OwlBeThere · 06/05/2020 18:24

No. I choose to show my appreciation by making scrubs and wash bags instead.

Sparklingbrook · 06/05/2020 18:25

I think I am done with it TBH. A lot of NHS workers find it all a bit cringe.

RonSwansonIsBuff · 06/05/2020 18:25

Well I haven't yet so no.

Glitterb · 06/05/2020 18:26

@Sunshineeeee i can only imagine how frustrating it is with a baby!

Most of the people who clap round here are hypocrites anyway who have regularly had get togethers with friends and not stuck to the lockdown. They would be better forgetting the clapping and actually helping the NHS by staying at home

Caramel78 · 06/05/2020 18:26

No. My best friend is a nurse for the NHS and she told me she finds it cringeworthy

KingJarvis · 06/05/2020 18:26

Fuck no. Didn’t even start.

Carrie7469 · 06/05/2020 18:27

No. I'm a key worker and the whole thing makes me cringe. Especially annoying when you're working shifts and trying to sleep.

Emcont · 06/05/2020 18:27

We've had fireworks too. Pots and pans were bad enough, but fireworks at 8 every week with young children asleep is becoming a bit much!

Nope as our hospital is empty

SachaStark · 06/05/2020 18:28

Well, I like it. I volunteer at a doctors’ surgery every morning at the moment, so it’s not as though I’m not doing something “useful” alongside it.

Lots of people in my village come out into their gardens, we clap, we wave to the other people we can see from our houses, then everybody sings a Cornish song together, and we go inside. It’s quite a nice, peaceful way to start the evening on Thursdays. Time to quietly reflect and all that.

Cloudiay · 06/05/2020 18:28

We aren’t being sent to re-programming claps for not clapping. Yet.

Ah you're one of those who can't possibly just say no, but has to make a comment to suggest that you are more enlightened than all of the little sheep.

Hagisonthehill · 06/05/2020 18:28

Do you know it's just enough to see very sick patients get better.
And as appointments and the rest of the system creaks into motion remember that there we have less staff due to vunerable and shielded staff and we're not the reason that you(and mine) appointment is late.
We all have to manage a new normal to now and that includes clapping if you want or not. Were all coping differently.

Peggysgettingcrazy · 06/05/2020 18:28

no. Havent done it at all

ProfInkly · 06/05/2020 18:29

No. I appreciate everything they are doing but at 8pm my 3yr old has usually just fallen asleep or about to. When it was just clapping I joined in through the window if she was already asleep. But now they have pans and a bell I close all the windows and keep out of it. If anything wakes her up it will take an hour to get her back to sleep and at the moment my evening down time is precious.

forgivemeimnew · 06/05/2020 18:30

I am because everyone else is and I don’t want to be the singled out neighbour Grin

BirdieFriendReturns · 06/05/2020 18:31

Cloudiay - and you’re one of those people who finds they have to make a witty, trying to be cutting comment to posts they don’t like. Yeah, the sheep comment is super original. Well done!

Wherearemyminions · 06/05/2020 18:31

Nope, no-one in our cul de sac does but the street behind go mad over it, including flying a drone and filming it, complete with the Friday morning analysis online "great turnout from street x, shame on street y, poor show" etc etc. I find the whole thing very cringey and getting actually quite unpleasant as time goes on, doesn't mean I don't appreciate carers, I happen to be one as are many others in my family.

Chattercino · 06/05/2020 18:32

Yes. My whole road has done it every week.
