He said government cannot go on like this...

Katykitten2 · 05/05/2020 20:42

Ha Ha Ha!

The80sweregreat · 05/05/2020 20:43

Laurie, thanks for agreeing with me.
It may have been rushed a bit but the govt had to make tough decisions.
It's a shame some won't benefit , but millions will ( I hope so anyway)

Namechangervaver · 05/05/2020 20:43

That woman on the covid briefing tonight was freaking out that more people are using their cars, but if people are legitimately going back to work what's the issue?

Katykitten2 · 05/05/2020 20:44

Unsustainable scroungers.

The80sweregreat · 05/05/2020 20:45

My friend is on furlough and concerned her job might not be there soon. It's not all sun and bbq's for many.

Bollss · 05/05/2020 20:46

That is the problem. My partner is a keyworker and therefore paying taxes whilst furlough scroungers sunbathe in their gardens at our expense on 80% plus of wages. Disgusting

I really hope you're joking.

LaurieMarlow · 05/05/2020 20:46

I really hope you're joking.

I think it’s just pure, simple trolling.

Katykitten2 · 05/05/2020 20:46

Having to work? Oh dear Oh dear suggest they remove themselves to Russia
(not that they would want them).

Alsohuman · 05/05/2020 20:47

This thread has suddenly become pointless.

mollypuss1 · 05/05/2020 20:48

@katykitten2 I know you’re a troll but ..... why Russia exactly?

LilacTree1 · 05/05/2020 20:48

Also well, it depends how they handle it

Will they now try to hide behind others?

Katykitten2 · 05/05/2020 20:49

they didn't 'sign up' for anything. get real - redundancy is on your cards now.

jasjas1973 · 05/05/2020 20:51

@Katykitten2

i'm classed as a keyworker(or was) but due to CV, an NHS contract has been put on hold, so furloughed (as were many others), if i was was laid off, i'd get another job and key skills lost to the company when the contract resumes, so they'd not be able to complete the contract and more workers lost.
The idea of furlough is to stop panic and economic collapse in the short term, some furloughed workers will be lose their jobs regardless but many wont.

But yes it is nice catching up with the family, doing chores but generally pleasing oneself for a few weeks :) you should try it!

LaurieFairyCake · 05/05/2020 20:51

My daughter would not be redundant Hmm

She works 40-50 hours a week as a bar manager in a busy bar. It's not the 'gig economy' for her and it's not zero hours because she chose it.

Without Coronavirus she would be continuing to work hard and continuing to save - she's not sunbathing anywhere Angry - it's NOT here fault the bar is shut or that she is at home !

Katykitten2 · 05/05/2020 20:51

It is for the majority of sunny scroungers.

mollypuss1 · 05/05/2020 20:54

@Katykitten2 you need to up your troll game, you’re starting to sound like a broken record.

BTW, Speaking of scrounges, you say your husband is a key worker but not you, how do you earn money exactly?

LaurieFairyCake · 05/05/2020 20:54

I'm willing to bet KatyKitten that you don't know many people who are furloughed Hmm

Since it's millions of good, hard working people all over the UK

Bollss · 05/05/2020 20:56

Thanks for the private message @Katykitten2. I think I can hear your mum shouting you? Probably past your bedtime sweetheart X

LaurieMarlow · 05/05/2020 20:58

Oh I got a DM too Grin

Toddle off now sweetheart. You’ve made your inane point.

isseywith4vampirecats · 05/05/2020 20:59

and for people saying ooh stay at home and get £2500 a month not everyone earns that sort of money my 80% of my wages adds up to £600 a month hardly living it up money and yes I have lived on fresh air in the past running a house on £55 a week after rent paid (nothing else) and working

jasjas1973 · 05/05/2020 20:59

@Katykitten2 Now your just jealous aren't you?

Nice day tomo... what shall i do with my free time...decisions decisions!

Bollss · 05/05/2020 21:00

@jasjas1973 I think I might do some sunbathing? Grin

jasjas1973 · 05/05/2020 21:04

Cruel oh so cruel but yes, need to soak up some rays!

LaurieMarlow · 05/05/2020 21:08

Vitamin D is very important right now!

DreamChaser23 · 05/05/2020 21:13

To put it simply, there are around 33m (workforce in the UK). It is estimated over 9m will eventually use the scheme. What happens if you stop the furlough scheme? Do you see the problem? It is not just 2 OR 3m that are unemployed it will be much higher...
