To be annoyed by the latest Quorn mince ad?

It shows a family with three children enjoying a Quorn spag Bol happy in the knowledge that it’s good for their climate footprint.

Or is it meant to be tongue in cheek?

Well, it certainly reduces my DH's footprints as he can't leave the bathroom after eating quorn! 😂

ducksback · 04/05/2020 11:07

Eatuing meat is bad for the planet. This is common knowledge.

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 04/05/2020 11:07

Is your issue the fact that they have 3 children rather than fewer than 2?

At the end of the day the children can't be erased so doing what you can to reduce their carbon footprint is a good thing.

doodleygirl · 04/05/2020 11:08

And the issue is?

GreyishDays · 04/05/2020 11:09

What do you object to?

Are you saying if you have three children you may as well not bother with any other measures? Just go mad on flights and single use plastic?

cariadlet · 04/05/2020 11:10

You didn't say why you are annoyed but I voted YBU because the advert said that reducing meat intake will reduce your carbon footprint which it will.

DollyDoneMore · 04/05/2020 11:12

Yes, I’m sure a better ad for Quorn would show a tasty meal being prepared for Mum as she returns from the abortion clinic...

FFS.

The issue I think is that society still considers only children to be some sort of abhorrence so I guess advertisers don't want to portray that sort of family Sad

motherheroic · 04/05/2020 11:15

......anyway.

Dialdownthedrama · 04/05/2020 11:17

You didn't say what you were annoyed about.

cinammonbuns · 04/05/2020 11:17

What do you object to exactly? Oh because they have 3 kids. Well MN is not the place to have any constructive conversation about how many kids people should have.

PinkiOcelot · 04/05/2020 11:18

@OmgThereAreNoPlanesAboveMeNow me neither. Just doesn’t agree with me at all.

SerenDippitty · 04/05/2020 11:22

It’s an American ad, so I assume the irony is lost on them.

ScarfLadysBag · 04/05/2020 11:25

Now now OP, you know they were all accidental pregnancies and now their father has left them and their mother gave up work while unmarried so now has to feed them Quorn because she can't afford meat as they had to leave the family home because her name wasn't on the deeds and now lived in rented accommodation with an evil landlord.

Luaa · 04/05/2020 11:26

I don't really get what there is to object to?

ducksback · 04/05/2020 11:30

Quorn adverts always depict smug cunts - it's the market they are trying to appeal to, after all!

Riiiiiiight. Hmm

SerenDippitty · 04/05/2020 11:35

I don’t claim to live like an environmental saint. I just think there’s an irony in the ad.

OP posts:
BlackKite · 04/05/2020 11:37

How is it an American ad?

chipsandgin · 04/05/2020 11:39

It’s an odd aspect of the benefit of the product to choose to market - I can’t imagine a meat eater watching that and suddenly thinking ‘blimey they’re spot on, I’ll start eating that now as it will reduce my carbon footprint!’. So it’s a shit advert. However I have zero fucks left right now to be annoyed about it!

BlackKite · 04/05/2020 11:40

I think many people are worried about the carbon footprint of their diet

SerenDippitty · 04/05/2020 11:40

Lots of ads are - they are dubbed over for UK audience. There’s a US version on YouTube too.

OP posts:
MongerTruffle · 04/05/2020 11:45

I just think there’s an irony in the ad.

What's the irony?

zscaler · 04/05/2020 11:46

What’s the irony?

AntiHop · 04/05/2020 11:48

No idea why you think this is tongue in cheek?
