To worry when My friend says she's a light worker??

sttropezlegs · 04/05/2020 08:50

Name changed, but frequent poster.

Close friend of mine has started a fbook group and invited me in. In this group she has started doing videos and appears to have a number of followers now. In this group and in videos she claims to speak to spirit guides (including princess diana!!) and calls herself a light worker

I have never heard her talk of any of this before. We live a far distance apart so granted, most interaction between us is virtual so it is fair to say, I don't know all that's going on with her and don't claim to. She's just never mentioned anything like this before. We speak weekly, sometimes more.

This area is something I know nothing about, and I'm worried by the videos.

Is this a real thing?

Love and Light,*
Sorry but that made me laugh a lot.

glennamy · 05/05/2020 22:26

We have a couple of light workers in our office... Right lazy B'stards they are!

NewYearNewTwatName · 05/05/2020 22:34

No, you are right, it's not a good look is it silvercollie

This is the look, that is put out there by your fellow lightworkers

Which is why I asked you about it. not sure why answering the questions is a problem.

PoppyAnnie · 05/05/2020 22:56

I have a friend who was so sensible and just about 6 months ago started doing this stuff. Has hundreds of new facebook friends where they talk about light and senses. Photos of people who are special light workers and she goes to conventions and pays to meet them. The whole thing is absolute codswallop.

Lovely13 · 05/05/2020 23:39

Why is it only Diana and Gandhi talking to them? Not some random coal miner or shipbuilder! It’s same as regression therapy. People are always cleopatra or Shakespeare in a previous life. Never some sad peasant dying of plague or hunger. But if it keeps her happy....

Ucannotbeserious · 05/05/2020 23:46

Been a good few weeks since something cheered me up as much as this. Thank you Sttropezlegs. Thinking may Ghandi could help out both Amy Winehouse and Diana.

SnowsInWater · 06/05/2020 05:01

I have a friend who is into all kinds of what I think of as crazy shit. We tend to agree to disagree. I can’t Zoom her though as I don’t trust myself not to eye roll 😂

skyblu · 06/05/2020 07:17

Whatever your friend is doing now or has been through, you found very judgy.
You could talk to your friend, one on one. Get more information from her and try to understand a little more, from the horses mouth, before making up your mind.
I’m not sure I’d want a friend that takes to the internet to judge and slag me off with a bunch of complete strangers anyway, so maybe you would be best just going your own ways.

As my belief system is my business then I wanted to ignore your questions as I do not need to justify myself - do I? But see below.
Firstly, I have never Googled 'Lightworkers' as I do not need to. But, out of curiosity, I will shortly.
And to continue:
Diana - No
Celestial being - you are having a laugh - No
Super Powers - Strewth - No
2012 - Things hotted up
Exorcisms - for heavens sake - No
£1000 - really? - No
Rational - Yep
Old Hat - looks like it
Manipulative - would not be surprised - but nothing to do with me.

Back in the old days - like before the Internet - people were rather nicer to each other and one did not get called out for being the person they were. As I said in my recent post, we have a chance to reverse the downward spiral that seems to pass for communication these days.

Champagne - Hysteria - And ......?

NewYearNewTwatName · 06/05/2020 08:03

silvercollie I am glad to read your reply.
As it was as I suspected.

You put forward the case for a lightworker, Which was a more organic personal belief, that's not really up for ridicule.

Which is why it is concerning it is being high jacked, by more unscrupulous groups.

Manipulative - would not be surprised - but nothing to do with me

But unfortunately it does effect you. because the meaning of the word lightworker is now changing. They do seem to be targeting people in a vulnerable position, giving them strange ideas about what they are and what they could be further down the line, all after paying for tests and going on lots of different level courses.

I am not be happy with any groups that persuade people who are probably in low and vulnerable position, that they are capable of talking to famous dead people and these dead people are going to guide them through their lives.

Mollypolly123 · 06/05/2020 08:08

Please consider what the Bible says about where she's getting these spirit guides from, if she truly is, that is. The Bible says these are wicked spirits misleading you and not dead relatives, friends etc

NewYearNewTwatName · 06/05/2020 08:14

I should Add I am not happy with any group. that claims it can rid someone of their demons, of metal health disorders which include hearing voices and diganosed personality disorders. all through Skype and for £1000+ payment.

I say these groups are nothing to do with me because I am not a group person. And as I said originally, one recognises another true Lightworker when you meet them. I work alone but know there are many people like me thoughout the world working (or being) toward a similar goal.
Glad you said that it is a personal thing and not up for ridicule - thank you.
There is much more that I could say but I do not think this is the correct Forum. Too many naysayers.

There goes another irony metre, busting into flames.

Using one load of made up old nonsense to warn against another lot of made up old nonsense. Nice work.

1555CC · 06/05/2020 09:05

Maybe she has always been clairvoyant and mediumistic. Some people just are and have been like that since children.

No they aren't. But some people are liars, or deluded. And that can start at a young age.

A lot of talk on here about sceptics not being "open minded". Well it's one thing to be open minded, but it's quite another to have a mind like an unattended skip, allowing it to be filled up with other people's rubbish.

BossAssBitch · 06/05/2020 09:08

@BadApe
I thought a light worker meant someone who only does a bit of light work, here or there, nothing too strenuous... I was thinking yeah I am too and there’s nothing to be worried about!

Have none of you anything better to do than trash someone who is trying to find some enlightenment in their life ? The Dalai Lama and Buddha are Lightworkers. They have/ had spiritual guides. Are they charlatans too ? Come on people. Find a little kindness and less judgement in your hearts. Stay Blessed.

silvercollie · 06/05/2020 09:58

reiki21

Well said. I totally agree.

1555CC · 06/05/2020 10:14

Yes, but I'm still able to make time for trashing.

The Dalai Lama and Buddha are Lightworkers. They have/ had spiritual guides. Are they charlatans too?

The Dalai Lama certainly is. Maybe you need to do a bit of research into him and see the kind of unpleasantness he supports. I don't know much about Buddha, but I wouldn't be surprised.

Any other questions?

How do you know they arent. Just because you are not doesn't mean some people do have these abilities. Most keep quiet about them as they don't want to be riddiculed and from some of the awful and down right nasty comments on this thread you can understand why they keep quiet. Anyway like I said before some people have talents in music and the arts and it's my belief that some people are clairvoyant or mediumistic and just very sensitive . Most people pick up feelings regarding atmospheres ,gut instincts . Being psychic or mediumistic is just a more intense version of this.

7Days · 06/05/2020 10:27

Live and let live, I say.

Belief systems help people on a psychological level. There are scammers in every walk of life, she will have to be aware of them like being aware of muggers on a dark street, or unscrupulous bosses wringing more work out if you. Doesn't mean you have to avoid streets or jobs.

I am annoyed by the term 'lighteorker' though and its definition always seeming to be a long list of personal attributes that really stroke the ego.
Much less about getting ones hands dirty, being humble, doing thankless tasks for other people. Traditional religions stress the need for service to the unfortunate without it being all about you.
It's a bit self serving and glory seeking really.

Every single time a so called psychic has been asked to demonstrate their abilities in a controlled setting whilst being properly monitored. they have failed. In the whole history of the world, not a single person has ever been able to prove any kind of psychic ability when properly tested, in a lab, under controlled conditions. Not one, ever. Not even identical twins, who are always claiming to feel each other's pain. Stick them in a lab, they completely fail.

And they all have the same pathetic excuse..."ooo...it doesn't work in a lab, blah blah blah."

Scammers, the lot of them. Or deluded fools.

NewYearNewTwatName · 06/05/2020 10:36

I think its always wise to look out for dubious practices within your community.

Not just blindly accepting worrying manipulation within it. Because you feel they are claiming to part of it, so you must defend it at all cost. Then labeling others as nasty, narrow minded, naysayers. Whilst allowing people to exploit others in your name.

I don't know, I'd have thought with your love for guidance to help humanity, you'd be more open minded to helping those that are being exploited.
