Micellar water is very Emperor's new clothes, I agree. It's also not actually very good, either at removing make up or for your skin. But it's quick, so it's become fashionable.
I'm a skincare whore. I admit it. I have about 20 serums, the cheapest was the £2.99 Superdrug Pure one. The most expensive the EL ANR. Guess which one is a repeat purchase and which languishes at the back of the bathroom cabinet with me thinking "that was £70 I'll not get back"
I fell for the Ordinary hype (probably not least because of the hours their PR bods spend on MN doing their product placement (and yes, Hush, Mint Velvet and Saltwater, that goes for you too)) but it did nothing for my skin, generally has a nasty consistency and I read too much about the way the guy running the show ran the show to be taken in by their ethical this and price point that stuff.
I love L'Occitane Divine. Does it make my skin look better than Astral? Nope.
Things that have made my skin look different:
Acid toner-. Doesn't have to be a Paula's Choice (I think old Paula isn't averse to sending her bods onto skincare threads either) one of the best I've used is Olay anti wrinkle. £4.99 last bottle.
Vit C serum. I have a Vichy one and repeat buy it but also have a GOW one I haven't opened yet that cost half what the Vichy did.
Any cream cleanser you remove with a hot cloth will do the same job. I like Liz Earle because I like the smell, but I'm not gullible enough to think a cream you splodge on your face for 10 seconds then rinse off is doing anything that the £3 Superdrug one isn't. It's the actual cloth action that brightens, not the cream.
Eye cream- some/most Emperor's new clothes again. I've used Dior, Chanel etc and nope. Nothing. But I am using a couple of Kiehl's ones at the moment and can see a brightening and less obvious lines.
