And they are getting stronger today. We only had sex twice this month just shows! I also made a mind movie on my phone of preg ladies and babies and watched it everyday for visulisation the universe has listened!!

People can believe in whatever they want and that's fine.

So people that believe that equality is wrong, that's fine? People that believe paedophilia is acceptable, that's fine? The Nazis and their beliefs....just fine and dandy.

People can believe what they want, and when they believe crap, they should be called out on it.

Rayn · 02/05/2020 08:36

We all have different beliefs and ideas. Nothing wrong with that.
The OP is newly pregnant and happy so let's not be horrible.

ElectricTonight · 02/05/2020 08:36

@1555CC well no you are stretching there. Il rephrase.

As long as people aren't causing harm to others then they can believe in what they want.

1555CC · 02/05/2020 08:36

Oh I have @HolyWells. @1555CC it's never done me any harm

Smallpox has never done me any harm. I still think it's a bad thing though.

Some of us have a higher bar on what's acceptable or a positive thing than "it's never done me any harm"

1555CC · 02/05/2020 08:39

As long as people aren't causing harm to others then they can believe in what they want.

But LOA does cause harm to others. It promotes bad science, it preys on the vulnerable and desperate, and convinces people that they can get what they want by positive though and writing messages in books. And when they don't get it, it leaves them even more vulnerable.

ElectricTonight · 02/05/2020 08:39

@1555CC small pox isn't a belief though it's an illness?

The OP didn't come on here to make others feel shit, she is excited about her pregnancy and believes in something others don't, that is ok. Just like people thank god for the good things, it's ok!

ElectricTonight · 02/05/2020 08:42

@1555CC it gives people hope, it makes people think more positively, it helps you manage your emotions as you re train your thinking patterns it can make you stronger. With everything there are pros and cons the LOA wasn't made to hurt people.

1555CC · 02/05/2020 08:48

@ElectricTonight Well I've just written down that i hope you can actually understand what electromagnatism is ........how's it working out?

1555CC · 02/05/2020 08:49

@1555CC small pox isn't a belief though it's an illness?

Never done me any harm.

ElectricTonight · 02/05/2020 08:50

@1555CC have you read the book or watched the film? It doesn't sound like you have because it's not just writing down what you want , it's not a child's Christmas list.

Dozer · 02/05/2020 08:50

Congratulations on your pregnancy!

It has nothing to do with “woo” stuff. At least this “woo” is (financially at least) free.

Stuckandsadintheupsidedown · 02/05/2020 09:00

Every day taking tiny little steps towards their goal/dream/ideal life

This is exactly the result I've found it's had for me. It didn't cost me anything, just an hour or so reading.
For me it's a focussing tool - I'm not asking the universe for anything to fall into my lap with no effort at all.
But yes, it worked for me in regards to my new job, passing my driving test, taking ds to Italy. My next goal is a new flat in my dream area with beautiful kitchen, parking space, period features etc etc.

1555CC · 02/05/2020 09:02

The two people I know that are heavily into this nonsense are Noel Edmonds and Gerri Halliwell. Not exactly Albert Einstein and Alan Turing, are they?

Stuckandsadintheupsidedown · 02/05/2020 09:04

And congrats OPFlowers lovely news

1555CC · 02/05/2020 09:06

For me it's a focussing tool - I'm not asking the universe for anything to fall into my lap with no effort at all.

Why ask the universe for something even if you do put in the effort? It doesn't know you exist, it doesn't care. You might as well ask the nearest tree.

If you want something, just take steps to maximise the chances. If you want to get pregnant, have unprotected sex. It might work, it might not. Consulting the universe will make sod all difference.

ElectricTonight · 02/05/2020 09:10

@1555CC god you sound so negative it's unreal, if anything your belief of the universe doesn't care it doesn't know you exist will causes the most harm.

Stuckandsadintheupsidedown · 02/05/2020 09:15

I don't ask the universe for anything at all Confused I just find a quiet 10 mins everyday to meditate on the thing that I'm working towards. No other distractions just visualising the goal and what it would look like for me.
I'd never come across this way of thinking until I watched a TED talk on it. I've found it very useful and the techniques encouraged in LOA have improved my life enormously in 10 months.

Thesnacklady · 02/05/2020 10:22

Wow - so many haters... I wonder how many have actually read the book. OP if this way of thinking has worked for you then that’s great. Congratulations.

JasperRising · 02/05/2020 11:18

There is a difference between I just find a quiet 10 mins everyday to meditate on the thing that I'm working towards. No other distractions just visualising the goal and what it would look like for me. (Which makes sense especially if you are working towards things like driving test or exams or sports competitions or anything where you actions/hard work make a difference.) And things like pregnancy which are down to your biology.

The problem I have with LOA is people who go beyond using the techniques to help them achieve something based on their skills and actions to attributing everything good or bad to LOA. If we accept that someone getting pregnant is because they used LOA then we have to accept that someone who has fertility problems or who gets a terminal illness diagnosis or who has a crime committed against them didn't do LOA or was too negative and attracted negativity to their life. And that is bullshit, those people are victims of being dealt a shitty hand, and I do not like theories or beliefs that imply those people are to blame.

(Congrats on the pregnancy OP)

Laurend0603 · 02/05/2020 11:25

I think you can take my OP as like..but no mention of others just a little story didnt mean to attract so much negativity, positive vibes only 😊

Nicely worded. This is exactly what is wrong with LoA.

"Been made redundant? Oh, well perhaps you didn't love your job enough."

"Miscarried or cannot get pregnant? Well, you simply can't be wanting a child enough."

Pointing that LoA is shit out is 'negative'? Fuck off. Negative is making others feel shit beaded on some smug woo nonsense.

MouthBreathingRage · 02/05/2020 11:30

OP if this way of thinking has worked for you then that’s great.

But it hasn't worked for her. Having unprotected sex has worked for her. That's the whole point, as better put by @JasperRising:

There is a difference betweenI just find a quiet 10 mins everyday to meditate on the thing that I'm working towards. Oh, and 'haters'? Really, does anyone over the age of 12 actually speak like that?

donquixotedelamancha · 02/05/2020 11:31

You don't know that though do you? People can believe in whatever they want and that's fine. That's like telling someone who believes in God that it's lies, which again we don't know.

Of course we know that. This isn't some religion with a deep base in culture it's nonsense made up 10 years ago (building upon other nonsense, sure, but no basis in fact or even philosophy).

If we can't know that really wanting something magically makes it happen, then we can't know the sky is blue.

Lying about it is harmful because vulnerable people grasp any straw when times are hard. Encouraging people to bury their head rather than face difficulties is not kind. People not agreeing with you is not negative.

EdwynCollins · 02/05/2020 11:32

It is revolting victim blaming.
What you are doing is setting realistic goals
Or are you saying starving children should use your method to change their circumstances, or perhaps you are more deserving. If its so good why do you use it to rid the world of Inequality, starvation, cancer, covid

EdwynCollins · 02/05/2020 11:34

Haters is pathetic. Use some critical thinking FFS
