Hi all
dont do LOA constantly but it has worked a few times.
We have been trying for a baby for 4 months and this I wrote it in my notepad I will have a baby in Jan 2021 after finding out I am pregnant the end of April...yesterday the 30th April I got positive test! And they are getting stronger today. We only had sex twice this month just shows! I also made a mind movie on my phone of preg ladies and babies and watched it everyday for visulisation the universe has listened!!

OP posts:
EdwynCollins · 01/05/2020 15:03

Is this the same crap that Noel Edmonds swears by?
People always ask the universe for greedy and material things. Never for world peace or a cure for cancerHmm
Presumably as well as asking the universe for a house with a garden you also have the funds, you get a mortgage, you go to the est agent, view the house, bid, move
Or do you just sit on your arse and wake up in your dream home
Same with the baby. I'm guessing you had sex? See how good I am

HavelockVetinari · 01/05/2020 15:12

@OlaEliza me too! Thank God we've found out now! Although I'm a bit bitter about the 7 rounds of ICSI and £40k I've spent Hmm

GoudaGirl · 01/05/2020 15:18

Congratulations on the news but I think something other than only wishing had something to do with it..

The odds of you becoming pregnant after 4 months are around 70% as per report in the Journal of Human Reproduction. Not yet fact checked the Journal of Laws of Attraction ...

CoffeeIsMyOnlyJoy · 01/05/2020 16:01

Quick! Someone write 'get rid of covid19'

Or does it just work for people who are already lucky? With working ovaries and deposits for London cottages

Fairyliz · 01/05/2020 16:04

Who wants to be my friend? Come on I am going to win the next euro lottery jackpot Grin

CloudsCanLookLikeSheep · 01/05/2020 16:08

The problem with LOA is that if it doesn't work, it can't be because the method is wrong, its because you weren't trying hard enough.

It doesn't allow you to be objective about the results

BertieDrapper · 01/05/2020 16:39

It really worked for my DH. He kept complaining that all his holiday was being taken over an 8 week period this year and hardly had any for the rest of the year.....

well he got his blimming wish didn't he! All holidays cancelled!!

Poppi89 · 01/05/2020 16:46

I always dream of having a big house etc but never pray/wish for it as I am always worried it will come back as bad luck somehow - has anyone had this?

I do think those that are 'dreamers' are more likely to get things they want.
E.g to the PP who wanted a country cottage it didn't just fall in your lap, you must have worked hard and paid for it. And you probably appreciate it more as you wanted it for a long time so count yourself luckier thank someone else. - Not saying it's not fantastic but I think some people think they can get things by just wishing and not doing anything.

BertieDrapper · 01/05/2020 17:12

@Poppi89 but that's the point I guess.

LOA isn't magic wishing dust.
I suppose it's more of a psychological thing.... there are 2 kinds of people.

Person 1) I would love a big house, but I don't earn enough. I'll never get a pay rise. I'm not smart enough, thin enough, pretty enough to deserve it..... that person doesn't get the big house because they do not believe they deserve it/ will ever have it. They do nothing to change their situation.

Person 2) I would love a big house, they get a job, save their money, look at how they can earn more money, retrain. Start a side business for extra income. People laugh and say "why are you bothering, it will never happen" but they still persists. Every day taking tiny little steps towards their goal/dream/ideal life

That's the difference. It's not writing it in a book and then sitting down and waiting for it to fall in your lap. You have to be open to the fact, that no matter your circumstances right now, you can change it. You can still achieve what you set out to do. The "universe" will align with your energy and things will happen.

If you want to start trying it out but find it difficult the easiest thing to test is to ask for parking spaces...... when we can actually go places again!

Poppi89 · 01/05/2020 17:23

@BertieDrapper - I absolutely agree with this! I didn't realise it had the name LOA - I used to say fake it until you make it lol or if you feel shy tell yourself you feel confident and then you will feel confident.

But I will definitely try it out as I think I am too much like person 1 and not confident/not good enough to have certain things.

BertieDrapper · 01/05/2020 17:37

@Poppi89
It comes under many names but that's pretty much premise.

It's hard sometimes, I struggle with the big stuff. But parking spaces always works!

Poppi89 · 01/05/2020 17:40

I will definitely give it a go! Thanks!

YouokHun · 01/05/2020 17:40

Congratulations on your pregnancy.

Did you try getting pregnant using Law of Attraction but leaving sex out of it? I think this would be the only way to find out if Law of Attraction works.

In the meantime let’s just call it the utter bollocks it is. But not just bollocks but also pretty harmful. LofA is the favourite of dodgy scams like MLM pyramid schemes and cult-like organisations. They make you believe you have the power to influence things by “mindset”. It’s really helpful if you buy into this because if you don’t succeed Forever Living or whoever will tell you it’s because of YOU, not because 99% fail anyway.. It’s a control method and its morally doubtful and damaging. Ditto The Secret: horse shit.

sonjadog · 01/05/2020 17:43

Are there really cottages with gardens in central London?

bee222 · 01/05/2020 17:46

I know someone who said they used law of attraction to have a baby. They created a mood board to wish "happy positive thoughts" that they would become a mother - and then they became pregnant with no problems and had a nice easy breezy pregnancy which they were unbearably smug about on social media. They put it down to this stupid mood board and the universe gifting them their family by "thinking positively"

Quite frankly it's an insult to all the women out there suffering infertility, miscarriage and baby loss.
You became pregnant after 4 months trying. The universe didn't give you this by using law of attraction - you are just one of the lucky ones.

bee222 · 01/05/2020 17:50

Now, have you ever phoned someone who has said "why the fuck are you calling, I wasn't even thinking about you

I'm going to use this as my standard call greeting from now on.

YouokHun · 01/05/2020 18:00

Quite bee222. If she’s not bright enough to realise she is the recipient of random luck then she’s probably not bright enough to realise how her smug attitude and glib talk about what is for some a deeply difficult and emotional journey, is so horrible. Frustrating.

I’m sure poor old Carl Jung is spinning in his grave, having his concept of Synchronicity highjacked by the Huns, random Mindset coaches, snake oil purveyors and random people hoping to upgrade their real estate.

acatcalledjohn · 01/05/2020 18:12

Did you try getting pregnant using Law of Attraction but leaving sex out of it? I think this would be the only way to find out if Law of Attraction works.

Read that. Read it again.

Perhaps Mary had a goal board. It was an immaculate conception after all.

TheFuckingDogs · 01/05/2020 18:14

Yep incredibly insensitive to all those suffering with infertility issues. Horrible actually to even post this. Obviously 4 months of trying wasn’t a fertility issue. People who have tried for years, endured miscarriages etc would never post something like this 😕

ElectricTonight · 01/05/2020 18:46

Why are people being so fucking horrible!

Congratulations OP, and yes I do believe in the LOA - Thoughts become things ;) xx

Lellochip · 01/05/2020 18:56

Why are people being so fucking horrible!

Because The Secret is fucking horrible. Got cancer? Bad luck, should've thought harder about magically getting better 🙄

It blames naive people for all the bad luck in their life, telling them it's their own fault for 'attracting' it. I am a firm believer in positive thinking etc, but this book just wraps that up in a load of cultish bullshit.

acatcalledjohn · 01/05/2020 19:01

Why are people being so fucking horrible!

Because victim shaming is fucking horrible. And LoA is the ultimate victim shaming.

HTH.

bee222 · 01/05/2020 19:10

Why are people being so fucking horrible!

Coming onto a page where many people are suffering with fertility issues saying you got pregnant in 4 months because you wished really hard for it whilst staring at pictures of pregnant women on your phone, is fucking horrible.

I have suffered with recurring miscarriages for years and years. I'm pregnant now but it's because I had unprotected sex and was really fucking lucky. Hopefully i'll be lucky enough not to miscarry this one. If I do it won't because I didn't wish hard enough. It's cultish, dangerous and toxic.

BettyUnderswoob · 01/05/2020 19:21

Never read such crap in my life.

CoffeeIsMyOnlyJoy · 01/05/2020 19:22

Why are people being so fucking horrible!

LOA is moronic. It is for lucky people to self indulgently tell themselves their luck was their own making, and pretend the unlucky make their own misery. It is both repulsive and imbecilic and (haha) deserves all it gets.
