I have to admit, I cried.

I'm not being UR.

whataballbag · 01/05/2020 01:41

What am I missing?

LilacTree1 · 01/05/2020 01:41

I’m not sure what you mean OP

are you somewhere locked down till then?

ladybirdsarelovely33 · 01/05/2020 01:43

You mean until phased opening of schools?
I think it really will be phased

EarlLeighIndamornin · 01/05/2020 01:44

I'm in New York and my husbands's company has mandated stay at home until then.

OP posts:
EarlLeighIndamornin · 01/05/2020 01:46

I'm not sure about schools here yet, some say Sept some say next year

ChasingTheSunshineAlways · 01/05/2020 01:48

OP I'm also in NY. My firm said we are not going back on June 1 even though that's when the current Pause is supposed to end. They are planning a phased return through June and July.

LilacTree1 · 01/05/2020 01:50

OP I really feel for you

I suspect it will be the same in the UK.

it’s horrendous Flowers

TheYellowStudio · 01/05/2020 01:53

Also in NY and work in a large investment bank. I think June/July is very optimistic. The messaging we’re getting implies September would be more likely or maybe even January next year.

EarlLeighIndamornin · 01/05/2020 01:55

ChasingTheSunshineAlways

I've been off the news today as I felt so shit with all the dreary weather. Did Cuomo say June 1st or is it my husband's company being cautious?

Sorry, posted before you're input. Oh god.

Floralnomad · 01/05/2020 02:06

We are in the UK but my husband works for a multinational with a HQ in the USA and they’ve been told ( worldwide) that wfh will not be reviewed before July .

sobeyondthehills · 01/05/2020 02:07

My friend is in New York and has been told not to expect her child back to school before September (she actually said the fall, so I may have the month wrong)

And I think that is also when she is going back to work, but her company is saying July

BritWifeinUSA · 01/05/2020 02:13

We get our end date tomorrow, supposedly. We have been in lockdown since March 6. I’m expecting sometime and of May or beginning of June.

DressingGownofDoom · 01/05/2020 02:16

Sorry mate. Coronavirus is a life ruiner.

Leaannb · 01/05/2020 02:19

Our kids will not physically go back to school until August 25

theschoolonthehill · 01/05/2020 02:22

OP are you upset because you will be locked down until then or relieved that it will be until then at least?

I don't understand. If the former, June 1st is only a month away and it really is much safer given there are now 100K deaths in the US. If the latter, they surely can't announce a definite date for everything to return when the death rate is increasing rapidly. It will probably be pushed back again. Wait and see what happens then and in the meantime stay safe.

steff13 · 01/05/2020 02:23

I'm in Ohio and our stay-at-home order was supposed to end tomorrow, but the governor has announced today it will be extended indefinitely. Our schools are already closed until fall term begins in August.

Witchesandwizards · 01/05/2020 02:35

I recently emigrated to NZ and my elderly parents (dad is very ill) are in the UK. We have flights booked in July which I'm sure cannot go ahead. My heart is just about broken.

EarlLeighIndamornin · 01/05/2020 03:23

Well I’m struggling to deal with it. Cabin fever is a real thing.

OP posts:
LilacTree1 · 01/05/2020 03:28

I hear you OP

For me, is also the shock that governments worldwide think it’s okay to quarantine healthy people

Thank goodness for US protests.

Prontoe · 01/05/2020 03:29

I'm with you. I'm not coping well with this either.

ilovesooty · 01/05/2020 03:32

Thank goodness for US protests

Words fail me.

ChasingTheSunshineAlways · 01/05/2020 03:36

Fully understand what you're saying OP. I hit a wall this week too. It's been bloody hard to be cooped up in an apartment with not enough light and no outside space.

I think Cuomo said June 1 but honestly I agree with YellowStudio, it's more likely to be July/August/Sept until people go properly back and then it will be cold again and we'll hit the second/third/whatever wave. My office is very cautious, we were sent home early, before the city lockdown and we'll go back after things settle.

DH's office however is planning on going back soon, probably early June. They are being ridiculous about it. They are all doing fine at home, not sure why being in the office matters since their company is spread all over the world. The building is unlikely to allow clients in anyways.

T0tallyFuckedUpFamily · 01/05/2020 03:38

Words fail me.

I have a few words going through my mind about that comment you remarked on, but they’d get me banned, so I’ll leave it at an eye roll and for fuck sake! 🙄

ChasingTheSunshineAlways · 01/05/2020 03:38

Actually @LilacTree1 the US protests are putting the whole same recovery on the line. They are creating hotpots and will keep the damn infection going for longer than needed. Plus most of them are anti vaxxers who think Fauci and Bill Gates is out to personally get them. Read their stupid placards before agreeing with their utter stupidity.

Also read up on asymptomatic carriers before saying governments are putting healthy people in lockdown.
