To be ashamed to be British

Every day more and more British deaths. When compared to other countries some of them third world, we have an appalling death rate from Covid 19.
Why oh why did the government allow 3000 Spanish to enter just to watch a football match when Spain would not allow them to watch in their own country.
Why was the Stereophonics concert allowed when other countries had locked down.
Why are thousands of people still entering the U.K. with no checks.
Why are our NHS staff still begging for PPE

I am feeling very very low about all of this and wish I lived in some other country.

No, I don't feel ashamed. I feel quite lucky actually. There are many worse places to be right now.

@Justanotherlurker please can you explain why you are so fixated on Kenyan principles? You refer to it a lot. Genuinely curious. Thank you.

@bananasplitsallround Lucky? UK is now literally the worst hit country in Europe and it's a direct consequence of the government's poor handling of the crisis...

Is it? How do you know? Also we have a larger population, has anything been calculated as per the population?

because taking it on the chin was never going to be good advice. Although it probably plays well with those who throw "snowflake" around as an insult.

I remember them saying we would lockdown and shut things when the time was right, which they did. People are restless now and sneaking back to normality, if it had been done sooner we might have been worse off. Anyway, the world is in it for the long haul, no one really knows whose approach is best yet. Ours was terrible, but you never know.

You think letting Cheltenham go ahead was a good idea?

Worse off than most deaths in europe?

Servers · 05/05/2020 15:18

Of course things could be worse, just like they could be better.

GetYourGoatYouHavePulled · 05/05/2020 15:27

Well said @Everanewbie

Sounds like a ministerial response.
