I found that Bath thread fascinating, lots of people feeling strange/uneasy when visiting a certain place. What places give you a really good feel and good vibes?

Iskushima shrine, on Miyajima Island near Hiroshima.

Beautiful when the tide comes in, but a fun place to poke around even when the tide is out.

Closer to home: Warwick Castle.

Wensleydale feels like coming home. As if my family lived there for generations. It gives me a calm joy.

The Alpujarras in Spain feel very special to me. Again very calm.

A beautiful ex National Trust place in north Devon near Woolacombe. Can't remember exactly what it was called, but Ladyswell is in my head.
Was an old, small country house at the bottom of a lush, green valley. Such an enchanting place; I got a real feeling of peace and contentment there. It was years ago, but I still think about it when I'm feeling stressed.

Bath! It is beautiful, love the light coloured cream buildings, the history, the warm climate and the lovely parks. It's lovely during lockdown, the botanical gardens and parade gardens have re-opened and the tourists and hen parties are no longer.

FenellaMaxwell · 26/04/2020 13:18

Whitstable. And York.

Inferiorbeing · 26/04/2020 13:18

I want to live in cambridge so badly, I keep pitching it to DP

iklboo · 26/04/2020 13:20

Betws-y-Coed

RedHelenB · 26/04/2020 13:22

Whitby, Wensleydale and everywhere I've ever been to on holiday abroad apart from Egypt!

ParkheadParadise · 26/04/2020 13:25

I love to visit our holiday home in Cyprus its the one place I can relax.
BUT the best feeling is coming home and seeing the sign
Welcome to Glasgow

I love Hunstanton in North Norfolk. Everyone is so friendly and the area is so beautiful. Even the tacky entertainments are perfectly tacky!

Lillyhatesjaz · 26/04/2020 13:40

Amsterdam I had a lovely holiday there with DH and my older teens

ElegantAndtired · 26/04/2020 13:42

Great idea! Loved the Bath thread.
Good vibe places:
Cambridge
St Paul's Cathedral
Greek islands away from party crowds

JacobReesMogadishu · 26/04/2020 13:43

The New Forest
The Lake District.

BikeRunSki · 26/04/2020 13:48

York, Durham, Newcastle upon Tyne
The Derbyshire Hope Valley
The Namib Dessert
Belfast and the NE coast of Northern Ireland

I went to an interview in NuT when I was 22. Despite it being a terrible winter day it felt like coming home.* A few months later I drive a borrowed car full of my things over the Tyne bridge at sunset and knew I was going to enjoy my time there. The interview was for a 1 year MSc course. I stayed for 7!

*i had never previously been to the NE.

When I was in my 20s I discovered a place called Moon Beach on a very remote part of the Red Sea. The only activities were windsurfing, kite-surfing and yoga. It was the most chilled out, lovely place I’ve ever known and was almost completely undiscovered, particularly during the week. I used to go by myself with a stack of books and come home 5 days later a different person.

workshyfop · 26/04/2020 14:22

Durham has the most beautiful peaceful feeling

DartmoorChef · 26/04/2020 14:29

America.

I felt i had come home the first time i went, and every time after that too.

I would love to live there.

I found out a few years after my first trip there that all my birth family have lived in the USA since leaving england in the 1960s including my birth mother who gave me up for adoption at birth then moved out there to join her parents and siblings.

RainMustFall · 26/04/2020 14:36

My house. I took one step through the front and knew I had to buy it. Seventeen years later I still love it.

Rievaulx Abbey in Yorkshire. Always so quiet, no matter how many visits and had a wonderful vibe.

JammyGem · 26/04/2020 14:40

York. I used to visit for a day as a child every summer, and had very fond memories of our day trips. I took DH on a weekend away decades later.

As our train pulled in, I had an immediate sense of feeling at home, and really at peace.

We actually moved here a couple years later and I've never regretted it.

MiaowMix · 26/04/2020 15:02

Camber sands
Barcelona
The south Hams, Devon
Anywhere in the South of France
Paris

There are so many beautiful and special places in the world but my heart properly skips a beat when I visit these places. I don't know if it's a feeling, the light, or what, but they just feel magical to me whenever I set foot in any of them 🧡

KaronAVyrus · 26/04/2020 15:08

Crete. Would love to live there. Just felt an overwhelming feeling of coming home.

Can anyone link to the Bath thread mentioned? I love Bath btw.

Flavabobble · 26/04/2020 15:18

St David's cathedral in Wales and the ruins nearby. Only been once, nearly 30 years ago. Will never forget the essence of the place. It gave me a peace I've never experienced anywhere else.
