I found that Bath thread fascinating, lots of people feeling strange/uneasy when visiting a certain place. What places give you a really good feel and good vibes?

Can I say a country? Iceland. All of it. I felt lighter and relaxed and peaceful there.

MooseBreath · 27/04/2020 15:56

Huntsville, Ontario (in Canada).
Honestly, the whole Muskoka area is beautiful. The people are friendly, the nature is stunning, and the vibes are wonderful.

Holy Island - when the tide is in and the day trippers have gone. I should have been going at the end of May and I'm so sad that I won't be going.

Whispers that Bath is really lovely now that it is half empty (though I do feel sorry for the overseas students who would probably prefer to be to back home with their families).

I'm gong to vote for Lundy (island off the north Devon Coast) and the Isles of Scilly (though I do wish the water was a bit warmer). I absolutely adored bits of Namibia and Likoma Island on Lake Malawi (as you can imagine, social distancing isn't too much of a challenge for me once we sorted out food and drink and WhatsApp groups etc.)

Polperro in Cornwall

@cjpark I love Iceland. It’s so clean and calm. I can’t wait to go back.

I second York also, but “there’s no place like home” Grin

ANoiseAnnoys · 27/04/2020 16:17

For me it’s St.ives but I just love Cornwall in particular. I’d really love to live there - the only thing that stops me is uprooting the dc’s who are all happy in their respective schools.

I’m so gutted we’re probably not going to be able to get there this year.

I also really love Dublin - it’s my second home and I have to visit once a year!

@3catsandcounting
thats Chambercombe manor and it’s in Ilfracombe. It’s a really lovely place indeed. It’s also supposed to be haunted and had an ‘actual’ skeleton buried in a hidden room.

It’s a really enchanting valley and I’m with you on the good vibes though

Sorry to be so vague but Scotland.
When the ferry went from Larne/Northern Ireland to Stranraer as soon as it docked I just got the feeling I was home, even though I’ve lived in N.I. all my life. The feel, the air, the people. I just can’t explain it.

I think my ancestors originated in Scotland so maybe that’s why it calls to me.

Mia1415 · 27/04/2020 16:32

Corfe (most of Dorset, but I really love Corfe)
Exmouth/ south devon
Disneyland Paris (I love the America parks but DLP will always be my happy place)

Barrow in Furness.

MotherAbigail · 27/04/2020 16:37

Kefalonia for me. I have never felt more relaxed and at peace anywhere else. We only went for a week three years ago and I’ve been trying to get enough money saved to go back since. Beautiful, peaceful and unspoilt.

Cornwall is the only other place where I felt similar. Just felt relaxed and at home, even when there were crowds. It feels like a different country.

At the other end of the scale, I immediately felt at home in New York. Again, the crowds didn’t stress me and I loved the feel of the different neighbourhoods.

BossAssBitch · 27/04/2020 16:39

I've travelled the world and have many places I could name, but for me, somewhere I feel at peace and awestruck in equal measures is Ullswater in the Lake District, breathtakingly beautiful in all weathers.

I felt strangely calm and happy in the cathedral quarter of Canterbury. I was once keen to move there for the 'feeling'.

I also feel lighter- as though I can breathe and think properly- in Dorset where, happily, I do live.
