I’ve raised a dispute with my credit card as someone I know got refunded this way. I sent my credit card company the booking and print of online chat showing refund has been requested but them saying they won’t pay out until Covid is over.

LaChatte · 12/06/2020 22:36

My flight (planned for the 4th of April) was cancelled on the 20th of March.
I initially filled put the form asking for a refund ad opposed to changing the dates. Then I decided a voucher via email. I finally got through to someone on the online chat (had to try several days in a row) on the 1st of May. Recieved the refund today, so roughly 2.5 months.

FruitPastillesaregood · 13/06/2020 21:44

I have been waiting over a month now for mine. I’ve filled in a form for a refund. I was told I would get it within 28 days. Then I got an email from them asking if I want a voucher or to rebook. I said no.
Still waiting and they aren’t answering my emails.
Today I filed a report with my credit card provider to try and get it back from them.
I will never use Ryanair again.

EmmaC78 · 13/06/2020 21:47

I requested a refund at the start of April and after having refused the voucher a couple of times I finally got an e-mail yesterday to say they were processing my refund.

blubellsarebells · 13/06/2020 22:11

They emailed me with a form to fill to request a refund which I did then another one offering voucher.
I want my money back but cant get through on the chat.
Can I just email them direct asking for a refund?
The email makes it sound like if you dont use the voucher in a year it will go to automatic refund.
Does anyone know if that's correct?
Could do without waiting until next july for my money back.

blubellsarebells · 13/06/2020 22:13

Emma how did you refuse the voucher?
Theres a link for it but it just leads to a massive page about why vouchers as so great and a tiny chat box i cant get though on.
So frustrating

I did it via FB messenger after someone else on here said they had success that way. Basically, I got two or possibly three e-mails with the voucher which I didn't accept and then I went on messenger and they had set up an automated system where you could say if you wanted a refund instead. I have just checked back and it was the 29th April that I did the messenger thing and the refund has only just been processed but I would say it is worth doing as it was the only thing that seemed to stop me getting the repeated offer of a voucher. I tried on the website loads of times with no success but the FB messenger thing just takes a minute or two to do.

My friend that booked a group holiday for us has apparently been told by EasyJet that she will be refunded. Don’t know when though.

DrDreReturns · 13/06/2020 22:29

We got our money back from our credit card. Apparently Ryanair have 45 days to challenge it, which is almost up. Hopefully they won't challenge it.

Greydove28 · 13/06/2020 22:40

Yeah we have been waiting since April for our refund. Not got anything yet

bumbleb33s · 13/06/2020 22:47

I was supposed to fly out on 5th, they cancelled, it took a while but they offered me a refund or vouchers, I took the vouchers as I will use them. They are valid for one year, if you don’t use them you can then get a full refund.

ssd · 13/06/2020 22:49

I've got the same problems with easyjet.

Highfivemum · 13/06/2020 23:01

Waiting since 12 March for ryanair refund. !!! Surely we were one of the first to be cancelled. ?

I have friends who have been waiting 2 months for a refund from Ryan Air.

I received a full refund got a holiday to Mauritius. I received it on the day I was due to travel.

I was due to go to New York in July. Virgin have offered me a full refund or a voucher with an upgrade to premium economy.

I have 2 further flights booked with Jet2, Nice and Rome. Not sure if we will be able to go. But I hear they have been excellent with their refunds

FruitPastillesaregood · 14/06/2020 10:27

I've just been told to wait another 10 weeks for the refund! Got through on live chat.

MsAdorabelleDearheartVonLipwig · 15/06/2020 22:13

@FruitPastillesaregood Who was that with? Shock

LoafingLiz · 15/06/2020 22:22

@ssd

I've got the same problems with easyjet.
I was waiting on easyJet then after seeing a tip on twitter I emailed [email protected] last Thursday chasing up my refund. On Friday I received an email confirming my refund was being processed. On Saturday the money was debited to my account. I was gobsmacked.

As for Ryanair I have just raised a chargeback through my bank.

FruitPastillesaregood · 15/06/2020 23:18

Ryanair

MsAdorabelleDearheartVonLipwig · 17/06/2020 21:30

@FruitPastillesaregood oh ok. Blimey though.

Cfmcg900 · 17/06/2020 21:38

Don’t waste your time trying to deal with them and go straight to your card provider.

How did you pay? If over £100 and on your credit card you’re entitled to a full refund from your credit card provider. Tell them you’re doing a s70 claim for services not provided. Funds should be returned within a couple of weeks but as with everything Covid provide for longer. Won’t be anywhere near as long as waiting on Ryanair and far, far better for your stress levels.

If under £100 on credit card, or on debit card, it will be a chargeback. This is a simple reversing of the transaction, as above due to services not provided. Not the same level of guarantee as s70 claim however I’ve never had one not found in my favour. I’ve only ever done MasterCard or visa chargebacks though never any other provider.

Vouchers almost worthless if the company goes bust, I’d never recommend accepting - while noble for local businesses perhaps O Leary is a cunt and deserves no goodwill for how he treats his cattle sorry customers.

Good luck!

Ineedflour · 17/06/2020 21:39

BA have been really surprising. We had 4 sets of flights cancelled and they've refunded the cash straight away.

MrsMime · 18/06/2020 09:16

I've done the thing via messenger (thanks for the tip) but I have two flights and the little chat not thing stopped talking to me after details of the first flight were accepted and I can't go back to the early options from the chat. Anyone else had this? I could get DP to message or does it have to be from person who booked?

Allywill · 18/06/2020 11:11

I thought the voucher/credit notes were covered by ABTA so you would be ok if the provider went bust?

GingerAndTheBiscuits · 18/06/2020 11:16

I opened a dispute with Ryanair via PayPal (as that’s how I’d paid as I was too lazy to go get my bank card) and the money was refunded in 30 days. Would still be waiting if I’d not done so
