If you have a cough, as innocuous as you might think it is! Why are you out? Just walked on my daily walk for about half an hour. 3 people walking past in safe distance all coughing 🤨 what the hell is wrong with people 😞

OP posts:
BatShite · 24/04/2020 23:53

a cough..even

OldSpeclkledHen · 24/04/2020 23:55

My DM had lung cancer, she coughed a lot. Not everyone with a cough has corona 🙄🙄

MrsSnitchnose · 25/04/2020 00:21

@Frequency Win/win! You can keep the pigeon afterwards, should you find yourself in need of an allergen in future

NatashaGurdin · 25/04/2020 00:31

Like PPs on this thread I have cough variant asthma so I cough a lot of the time. Also like many PPs here I have hay fever caused by tree pollen and a blocked nose from it too.

I'd rather not cough if I could help it but sometimes I can't!

Also sensitive to air temperature changes, strong perfumes, cigarette smoke and other scents especially cleaning and disinfectant ones and there are quite a lot of those about at the moment.

Rikalaily · 25/04/2020 00:42

I had a coughing fit in Aldi a few days ago... Because I was a bit dehydrated and my throat started sticking. Had no cough before or after that, everyone cleared the aisle though, felt so guilty.

RabidChinchilla · 25/04/2020 00:44

Lol

TattiePants · 25/04/2020 00:48

I've coughed every day for the last 7 years due to a dust allergy / post nasal drip. Are you really suggesting that I shouldn't go food shopping one a week or take a daily walk?

PotholeParadise · 25/04/2020 01:24

I think we just pole-vaulted a shark.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 25/04/2020 01:30

Spoilers - the shark isn't allowed to go outside either, someone's cousin's neighbor thinks they saw it coughing so it's now required to self-isolate in a sunken ship.

PotholeParadise · 25/04/2020 01:34

Poor shark was only coughing because of pollutants.

Insult to injury. First we poison our marine life, then we blame them for their allergic reactions!

StrikeItLuckyShuffle · 25/04/2020 01:39

Or even worse I was leaving Sainsbury’s car park today and a guy walked past my car clearing his throat then gobbed on the floor!

I couldn’t believe it
I didn’t say anything as my window was open and didn’t want to get spat at
I just sat there in shock !

StrangeLookingParasite · 25/04/2020 01:40

I did a big sneeze today when out.

I'm a terrible person.

(It's pollen, I think)

BatShite · 25/04/2020 01:46

DH says he breathed in a little bit of dust at the shop a few days back and coughed (covering mouth of course) and was deathstared by a fair few people in the queue. Said he felt fucking awful and they just glared and glared so he purposely went to the back of the shop feeling shitty and...hid there pretending to look at milk til the deathstarers had been served Grin Its hard for me to imagine as hes not backwards about coming forwards generally but he said he just felt terrible and as if he was some kind of walking disease bomb r something, because he coughed!

avacadooo · 25/04/2020 01:53

I have hay fever 😐 I get it every year and unfortunately nobody told it to stay away this year because everyone will think it's corona.
And the other day I choked on salvia in public.
I'm not going to stop doing my food shop when I know it's my yearly hay fever symptoms. you hear a cough and freak out but you can't feel the other symptoms I have going on like the awful itchy eyes and throat.
People need to stop the cough witch hunt.

Mummyoflittledragon · 25/04/2020 01:56

I have hay fever. The tablets I can tolerate stop the sneezing and itchiness but not all the coughing and throat clearing. Ie post nasal drip.

You are a drip op.

beebeedandelion · 25/04/2020 03:52

I'm allergic to antihistamines and have hay fever, I can cough like there is no tomorrow. Still it does mean my superpower is clearing a supermarket in seconds, I'm so proud Grin

HavartiToSeeYou · 25/04/2020 04:00

I choked on a bit of pain au chocolat while sitting by a duck pond (5 min break from exercise!!). Pain au chocolat is very flakey.

Choking on a satsuma is impressive.

The firefly story upthread is adorable.

Thepigeonsarecoming · 25/04/2020 04:09

Easy solution, stay home and avoid the couple of coughing people (who probably just have a simple cough/allergies) causing you such inconvenience. Probably a good thing as you might infect them by heaven forbid breathing near them. You do know most symptoms are invisible at the infectious stage?

Topseyt · 25/04/2020 04:20

Yet another ridiculous and neurotic thread.

People cough for many reasons. I have mild hay fever. I also have some scarring on my lungs from previous chest infections / pneumonia years ago and have always been prone to coughing ever since.

By your definition, I should never go out! Tough!! I will be going whether you like it or not.

PhilCornwall1 · 25/04/2020 04:30

If you have a cough, as innocuous as you might think it is! Why are you out?

Get a grip! Just because someone has a cough it doesn't mean they have the sodding virus.

I inject a drug (legal one!!) that after about an hour gives me a dry cough for a while. It's bloody annoying but there you go.

There are a million and one reasons why someone has a cough.

Are you really that neurotic that you think everyone who has a cough has this lurgy OP? Perhaps you should stay in instead.

KitKatKit · 25/04/2020 05:08

@Therollockingrogue Everyone has an excuse for their cough though in this nice weather

Oh please. I have hayfever and acid reflux AND I'm pregnant so there's little I can safely take for either. So when I go for my permitted daily walk, I end up coughing at least once!

myself2020 · 25/04/2020 05:22

If my cough is corona, i’ve had it fir 43 years...
just stay home yourself

MarginalGain · 25/04/2020 05:22

Most people cough occasionally/intermittently throughout the day.

Topseyt · 25/04/2020 08:40

Coughing is part of the mechanisms we use to keep our chests. All of us.

So nobody should go out. Ever!

puffinandkoala · 25/04/2020 08:45

Not RTFT but the National Blood Service has pointed out that a cough may carry on for several weeks after you've covid and they will still take blood if you are better. So even if the cough is from covid, it may be long after the infection has gone.

However far more likely is the fact that people do cough for many other reasons and a mild non-persistent, non-continuous cough is not a symptom to stay at home.

I have only heard a couple of people coughing while I've been out and they were both on bikes. I wonder if they'd swallowed an insect.
