If you have a cough, as innocuous as you might think it is! Why are you out? Just walked on my daily walk for about half an hour. 3 people walking past in safe distance all coughing 🤨 what the hell is wrong with people 😞

OP posts:
TheProdigalKittensReturn · 24/04/2020 23:05

Hay fever suffers, keep your filthy selves indoors forever!

(Get a grip, OP)

MrsSnitchnose · 24/04/2020 23:10

Really tempted to start my own 'Stop fucking telling people what to do' thread

I suffer from allergies and rhinitis year round, including hayfever. Most things make me sneeze, and I have been known to cough during high pollen

Those of us familiar with our own bodies know exactly what symptoms we have year on year and I will not be staying in just because you say so.

On a lighter note, I have been entertained by the swallowed items that have choked people recently, the gnat was my personal favourite Grin

TheLadyAnneNeville · 24/04/2020 23:12

I have a cough. Dry cough most of the year round. Have had it over a year. Been investigated by GP very thoroughly and nothing wrong with me, apparently.

I can’t go out?

Wewearpinkonwednesdays · 24/04/2020 23:15

I have allergies. I also cough after I exercise a bit. I also chocked on a fly the other day. It was disgusting, but next time I'll swallow it down for you op, just incase you think I'm out spreading corona.

Miljea · 24/04/2020 23:18

OP, please return to guide us!.....

Biscuitsdisappear · 24/04/2020 23:19

I cough, I have a lifelong dairy product allergy.

cremuel · 24/04/2020 23:20

OMFG, you are allowed to go out with a cough even if it is covid related. If you get a new persistent cough you have to isolate for 7 days but if after that you have no symptoms other than a cough you can go out. Coughs can last for months and if you are otherwise symptom free and have isolated for seven days you are not likely to be contagious.

Fluffybutter · 24/04/2020 23:21

Some right pricks on here !
I’m not staying in for 6 months of the year due to hayfever so you can feel better about yourself .
It’s the same for me every year .
Cheeky cunts

Northernsoulgirl45 · 24/04/2020 23:21

Yep coughy asthma here and a shielding dh. I would know if my cough is different.

Frequency · 24/04/2020 23:22

Imagine what would happen to the NHS and social care system if every staff member with hayfever, asthma, allergies etc stayed off work until this was over.

Actually, I have a night shift tomorrow and it's my birthday, does anyone have a cat I can pet for a second.... Grin

TopBitchoftheWitches · 24/04/2020 23:23

I have asthma, I cough. I still have a job to do. 🙄🙄

Toomuchtrouble4me · 24/04/2020 23:27

maybe they just coughed?

indemMUND · 24/04/2020 23:27

Dd has a severe cough for 8 weeks. It was so loud and she threw her head back tensing her neck with every cough. It got to the point that she kept getting sent home from school. It was commented on in taxis, the supermarket etc. Several gp appointments later she was sent to a paediatrician. Blood tests and a chest X-ray. All clear. It stopped about two weeks after that. It was nothing more sinister than post nasal drip. About two months before lockdown. Dread to think how people would react if it was ongoing now. You can't judge every cough.

SebandAlice · 24/04/2020 23:27

Pollen is really, really high so we are coughing for the last few weeks. Thanks for this thread op. This and the million others have been so helpful.

MrsSnitchnose · 24/04/2020 23:28

@Wewearpinkonwednesdays Make sure you follow it with a spider etc 😂

@Frequency I have two, one more adept at producing sneezing fits than the other. I can send you an envelope of her fur by carrier pigeon if that will help?

Gwenhwyfar · 24/04/2020 23:30

"I have hayfever and allergies and cough when post nasal drip runs down the back of my throat."

Yep. I'm not staying in all through hay fever season!

Maryann1975 · 24/04/2020 23:35

I went in to lockdown with a cough that I had since well before Christmas. I felt awful every time I coughed (not only because I also have a less than brilliant pelvic floor), having to explain to anyone nearby that it wasn’t the right type of cough for it to be covid as I was regularly coughing up rubbish. Thankfully it seems to have cleared now, which is lucky, because I’m not sure the doctor would have wanted to see me but they do advise a visit for a cough lasting that long.

yerawizadari · 24/04/2020 23:38

Three of us in this house all have the most dramatic hay fever symptoms today, the worst we've all been for years. Sneezing fit to bust and it makes you cough because you are so full of snot.

There are so many things that have come into flower literally in the last couple of days and I think we are allergic to all of them:
Cow parsley
Horse chestnut
Field maple
Hawthorn
Rapeseed
Lilac
Laburnum
Rowan

The air is thick with pollen, it is like walking through a cloud of gas round here. So if anyone comes across me coughing, sorry I don't mean to unnerve you, but I can't help it.

backtonormalname · 24/04/2020 23:39

people cough a lot without being contagious, I do it myself with hayfever. I became hyper sensitive to coughing when I was on chemo drugs and scared of catching something. There's always been loads and loads of coughers about, you just are noticing it now because you are scared.

ErrolTheDragon · 24/04/2020 23:40

DH had a coughing fit yesterday because he swallowed a fly.

Ah, maybe that's one thing homemade masks would definitely prevent?

longtompot · 24/04/2020 23:42

My cough has thankfully almost stopped, but I've had it for years on and off and is due to fluid dripping down the back of my throat from my nose. There is a spray I can get but I can't remember which one I've used before. Also it's there with my hayfever.
Funny thing is, I can walk all the way to the Sainsbury's queue no problem, but as soon as I queue up, all I want to do is cough!

Bowerbird5 · 24/04/2020 23:44

I’ve been coughing since March. I have asthma the pollen count is high so I have hay fever too. I’m on medication but it isn’t working. I am mostly in my own garden but sometimes I go for a walk. I have to go and collect my prescription and buy some food. I know it makes people worried so I often say it’s asthma I can’t help it.

Frequency · 24/04/2020 23:48

@MrsSnitchnose - carrier pigeon would be awesome. I'm also allergic to birds.

I've been either coughing or I notice it more. I swear everytime I get to the front of a queue in a shop I am hit with an overwhelming urge to cough.I usually hold my breath while waving my card frantically in the direction of the card reader. As soon as I hear the beep I run for the door. I'm sure the women at the Spar think I've lost my marbles.

Cats, closely followed by grass pollen is my biggest trigger but you don't see many grass covered cats in the local Spar. I'm mildly allergic to people who own cats but I don't think any cat owners are getting close enough to me for long enough to trigger a reaction.

Blubelle7 · 24/04/2020 23:52

I've literally choked on my water in public since the lockdown and almost had a panic attack because I was scared I would be abused for being out while symptomatic and that made my cough even worse and last longer. Was so glad when it stopped

BatShite · 24/04/2020 23:53

DHhas had a cugh pretty much everyday since I met him 12 years back. Fairly sure hes not had the rona for that long Hmm
