Cats or dogs?

Are you a cat or dog person and why?
I love both but if I had to pick it would be cats as they usually smell less

Really can't choose, they have different qualities - I've only had affectionate cats though tbh!

MiddlesexGirl · 23/04/2020 20:55

Cats. More affectionate, more independent, way less mess, fluffier.

HerRoyalNotness · 23/04/2020 20:56

Cats. Less hassle and less needy. I’d love a dog but they seem to be much more expensive and are a lot more work which would fall to me.

Chirpychirpy3 · 23/04/2020 20:56

Dogs. Cats are plotting to kill us all

altiara · 23/04/2020 20:56

I had a mean cat, I loved her but she was scary. Had to get a dog so the kids weren’t scared of animals! (Well I decided I could cope with a dog)

Hoohaahoo · 23/04/2020 20:57

I love them both! I prefer to own cats as they are easier though.

wolfmom · 23/04/2020 20:57

Dogs, I love cats, but, if I could only ever have one animal in my life it would have to be a dog and preferably a sighthound

Sparklingbrook · 23/04/2020 20:58

I love cats. I have never really been a dog lover, I wouldn't want to own one, I don't really get it. It looks as if it would be like having a needy clingy child. Grin

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 23/04/2020 20:58

Cats - I've always felt that dogs are a bit too needy for me.

Millicent10 · 23/04/2020 20:59

Definitely cats, very beautiful with a great attitude but not too needy, they are also very clean. I can take or leave dogs but find them a bit noisy, smelly and slobbery. I don’t have time for a dog anyway.

Planetzog · 23/04/2020 21:01

Dogs. Loving, enthusiastic, fun. Cats are sinister.

tabulahrasa · 23/04/2020 21:01

I like/own both...

I prefer dogs though, cats it’s all on their terms rather than yours.

RandomMess · 23/04/2020 21:02

Our cats are far needier than the dog, you can send the dog away; cat just carries on being clingy 😂

IMissTheOutside · 23/04/2020 21:02

I own both and like them both a lot, but if I had to choose then I’d go for Dog.. my cat is way more clingy, way louder and sits on my bloody worktops all the time 😂

victoria0132 · 23/04/2020 21:04

Dogs. Give a lot back and far more affectionate

Tardigrade001 · 23/04/2020 21:05

Can't choose, I like both. You need both in your life really, because they have different qualities that sort of complement each other.
Currently only have a dog though.

Lockdowneaster · 23/04/2020 21:07

Cats. Soooo much easier & don’t smell.

I would have to be Childless & jobless to even consider taking on the responsibility of a dog. They’re cute though.

NeutrinoWrangler · 23/04/2020 21:12

I like cats well enough, but I prefer dogs. If you are particular about the breed, they don't all smell that much. (I don't think our dogs have that dog smell except when they're wet, but they do shed loads of hair.) Meanwhile, my husband insists that he can always tell when someone has a cat the instant he walks through the door, because of the smell.

I prefer a dog's personality, though that can vary wildly, too. Our dogs aren't really lap dogs-- too independent for that. They love to be near us and will follow us around the house, but it's rare that they want to crawl into one of our laps and just stay there.

hiredandsqueak · 23/04/2020 21:16

Dogs I'm scared of cats.

Toddlerteaplease · 23/04/2020 21:16

Cats, just amazing, wonderful. Cheeky creatures and fairly low maintenance.

Slugalugs · 23/04/2020 21:18

They are all wonderful ❤️ Cats, though, if I have to choose. More tranquil and don't have to be walked in pouring rain. Made me giggle when a PP said cats were sinister. My older cat in particular is about as sinister as Bagpuss. Or a teddy bear.

Thelnebriati · 23/04/2020 21:18

Dogs. They only have a strong smell if they are wet, ill, or neglected. I've spent most of my life with dogs, the kids grew up with them, and the house feels very empty atm.

Helmlover1 · 23/04/2020 21:19

Cats- they are cooler.

Babyroobs · 23/04/2020 21:19

I've had both but definitely dogs , so loyal and loving.

Honeyroar · 23/04/2020 21:22

I’ve got two of each, and love them both, but I’d choose the dogs any day. Much more (consistently) affectionate and part of the family.
