Are you a cat or dog person and why?
I love both but if I had to pick it would be cats as they usually smell less

cats it’s all on their terms rather than yours.
One reason for liking them more - you have to earn their respect and affection. So when they give it to you you know you've earnt it.

Fluffybutter · 23/04/2020 21:27

I like dogs but would never own one myself (had them as a child)
Cat person all the way , so much less hassle and match my personality Grin

isseywith4vampirecats · 23/04/2020 21:28

have had dogs and cats all my life but when my last dog went I said no more dogs as much more dependent on you than cats dogs need walking and stimulation to prevent them becoming problem dogs, and at 59 too old to start with a puppy again and too heartbreaking when they go, so still have four cats who only love me cos I feed them and let them in and out the house but I like that they are not clingy and needy I love their independent spirit

Sparklingbrook · 23/04/2020 21:30

I am absolutely fine going out and leaving my cat as she's fine going in and out. I just couldn't do it to a dog they always seem broken hearted if they don't go with you.

Codywolf · 23/04/2020 21:36

Dog person

Would rather be a owner than a staff member in my own home

Well my current one is faulty then... she adores people with allergies even if she’s never met them before, lol

I like cats, I do... she’s my second one. But I find building a relationship with a dog much easier, because you can be proactive about it. Cats it’s really just sitting there waiting till they want to interact with you.

Dogs. All the live long day. I love my cat, I really do, despite the fact that she literally hates everyone and everything. She is an elderly lady and I'm the only one she will tolerate (slightly). Ddog is a twat but he's involved in everything we do, he makes my heart happy. Weirdly, ddog and dcat adore each other and he's the only member of the family she really likes!

nearlynermal · 23/04/2020 21:42

Cats. Smaller poop.

Sparklingbrook · 23/04/2020 21:53

I really can't handle the dog walk/poo bag thing. I dog sat for a friend and I took it for a walk. It was dark and peeing it down with rain. I was juggling the poo bags/umbrella and torch plus the dog on the end of the lead. I did the putting my hand in the bag then picking the warm poo up then had to knot the bag and carry it with me. Before we got to the poo bin he did another one and almost trod in it.
Got back to my friend's house with a sopping wet dog and had to do the drying of the paws thing.

Makes doing the cat litter tray seem a doddle.

junecat · 23/04/2020 21:56

It was always dogs for me, had them all my life. Two years ago I was asked to take in a cat and he completely won me over. So affectionate and makes me very very happy ❤

GreytExpectations · 23/04/2020 22:13

Cats. More affectionate

This cannot be true. Dogs definitely hold the affectionate prize. Cats are too selfish to care about their owners

sanityisamyth · 23/04/2020 23:00

Dogs. Cats get all over kitchen surfaces and furniture. They also kill baby birds and small mammals.

quarantinevibes · 23/04/2020 23:11

Cats!!! So affectionate and loyal. Also very clean creatures. I’ve only had bengals though, they do say they’re more “dog like” Grin mine are so interactive and have to leave the room if I leave the room. Theyre loud though Envy but I assume dogs are loud too.

Duckingell · 23/04/2020 23:15

Neither.

I don't ever want an animal living in my house. They aren't clean.

Also poop.

VanWinkle13 · 23/04/2020 23:24

I love both but it would have to be dogs.

DanielRicciardosSmile · 23/04/2020 23:25

Neither. I have nothing against cats or dogs, but no desire to have either one as a pet.

Charmatt · 23/04/2020 23:41

Cats - I've had some really lovely ones. The cat we have now is a lovely lad - I don't know how he coped with being a stray. He's definitely a people cat!

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 24/04/2020 00:04

I adore both. I suppose it depends on the animal itself. In the cuteness factor though. I think kittens just slightly have the edge over puppies. I adore their little tailsGrin

MrsCatE · 24/04/2020 00:17

My cat is BastardCat but I would still have him above a dog. I do like dogs but - BastardCat doesn't.

LolaDarkdestroyer · 24/04/2020 00:20

Dogs..cats stink, only love you cos they want food!.. example my cat is sat by bedroom door as soon as I wake up stalking me out knowing I wake up at that time....to follow me about with her bullshit until I feed her....my dog as soon as she sees me in the morning all over me just happy to see me couldn't give a shit about her food.
Love both my cat and dog but cats are all about them selfs.

Pieceofpurplesky · 24/04/2020 00:27

I have both. A bitch of a cat who rules the house and a stupid dog who lets the cat get away with murder!

I have always had both and can't see a life without either

Solina · 24/04/2020 00:32

I love both but we have a cat so I will say cats. He is very affectionate and chatty. Comes and demands attention and wont shut up/stop headbutting you until you pet him. Also none of the walking needed, can happily be left alone and so easy to look after.

DramaAlpaca · 24/04/2020 01:20

I have both but I'm totally a cat person, I grew up with them and they suit my introverted nature. I find our two dogs needy, clingy and hard work, even though I do love them. It's just that in the house I can't get away from them as wherever I go they want to be with me. Sometimes I feel have ten legs, rather than two. I'm their person, which I can't understand at all, but that's what the two of them have decided. Don't get me wrong, I love them to bits and all their needs are met, but I'd never have chosen to have dogs if DH hadn't wanted them. Give me an independent, low maintenance but loving cat any day. The DC have been lucky enough to grow up with both - of the three of them two are cat people and one is dogs all the way, like DH.

Sparklfairy · 24/04/2020 01:25

I've had both, and would never have a dog again. The bastard flooded my house.

Rosebel · 24/04/2020 02:37

I love dogs and cats but cats are easier. We have 2 cats one is lovely affectionate male, totally different to his sister who is only just becoming friendly after 11 years.
My husband and youngest would love a dog but I've said no because after a,week all the work would fall to me.
