I'm wondering if I'm spending more than necessary during the lockdown.

Anyone care to share what your grocery bills are weekly during the lockdown?

One million pounds.

ohmysoul · 21/04/2020 18:37

Too much.

troppibambini · 21/04/2020 18:37

£200 a week for six of us, a dog and a cat.

Standrewsschool · 21/04/2020 18:39

Pre-corona, approx £100 for family of four

During pandemic £150+

Cheeseycheeseycheesecheese · 21/04/2020 18:41

Mine has gone up from £70 to just over £100
2 adults
1 baby
1 dog

It's because I've been buying more snacky foods like crisps, biscuits and chocolate. Also stopped meal planning and am buying without a plan.

SarBear1980 · 21/04/2020 18:41

About 7 million times what it I do normally...

Butchers, milkman, fruit and veg box and online delivery costs...usually child would eat at school/childminders now he seems to need to eat 17 times a day. And don’t get me started on grown up snacks...

I’d say usual spend is £100 a week now more like £200...

Nix2020 · 21/04/2020 18:42

About £70 a week at the moment. It's doubled since the pandemic. That's for 2 adults and a toddler. I can't get over how expensive shopping has gotten

ImPeckish · 21/04/2020 18:43

I still spend the same, on average £40 a week for two adults - we eat very well! Blush

bridgetreilly · 21/04/2020 18:43

I'm spending less than normal because I'm planning better and shopping a lot less often, so there are fewer opportunities to add in extras and snacks and things.

MadisonAvenue · 21/04/2020 18:43

Far too much at the moment. Usually around £70 per week for four adults but it’s crept up recently to around £90-£100.
Having said that though, apart from our one son who is still having to go out to work so isn’t here for lunch, we’re all home for every meal which wasn’t the case before.

Marmite27 · 21/04/2020 18:44

Same as cheesex4 Wink

Northernsoulgirl45 · 21/04/2020 18:46

I reckon about 200 pw. 2 adults 2 teens and primary aged dd.

One teen has ARFID
Much less before lockdown

Falafellygood · 21/04/2020 18:47

£6000.

We've been spending a lot as had to go to Tesco instead of Aldi, hardly any offers, expensive alternatives, paying more for DS's snacks. Last week, we did only need fresh so came to approx £30. This week, we've got a Tesco delivery. It's Already at £92 without meal planning 😳 that's just my DH, no idea what's he's added and I still need stuff.

onanothertrain · 21/04/2020 18:47

100 a week roughly, 2 adults and 1 dog. TBH there's usually a fair bit of alcohol though. That's going to morrisons which I find really expensive but it's the smallest queue.

Peppafrig · 21/04/2020 18:47

Used to spend £70 but now it's up at £120 a week. Mostly due to having to grab what I can get . Like I can't get basic pasta so have to buy brands I wouldn't normally get.

Dylaninthemovies1 · 21/04/2020 18:47

Two adults and one 4 year old. About £100 a week, normally £70 a week. But we don’t eat out just now

Falafellygood · 21/04/2020 18:48

Oh and that doesn't include meat. We've got our butchers order being done and that'll be about £150 but will last us ages.

M0chaJoes · 21/04/2020 18:49

@impeckish you can't eat 'very well' on £40 a week. That's £20 each adult per seven days. What are you eating? And your user name suggests you're hungry

We spend about £200 a week. Family of 4

TwoBlueFish · 21/04/2020 18:49

Approx £130-£140 for 2 adults and 2 teenage DS.

Pre lockdown it was closer to £100.

Pre lockdown I shopped mostly at Aldi with about £20 in Tesco for items not available in Aldi. Now I’m shopping just in Tesco. Kids also now at home for lunch when they used to have school dinners.

Slith · 21/04/2020 18:50

I have no idea. It costs as much as it costs.

Metalhead · 21/04/2020 18:50

Since the lockdown our weekly shop (2 adults, 2 primary age kids) has been around £160. Sometimes this only lasts 5 days though. Before I did one big shop of £80-

Metalhead · 21/04/2020 18:51

Posted too soon! Pre-lockdown we did one big shop of £80-100 and two top ups of £20-40 each.

Bella444 · 21/04/2020 18:52

£100 a week for 2 adults. A lot of it seems to be alcohol! We've decided on a frugal non drinking week next week to clear out the freezer a little Smile

Hagisonthehill · 21/04/2020 18:53

I'm spending more as I am buying more fruit for us to snack on ,nibbles to go with the extra wine and gin and finding branded food more available rather than supermarket own brand.

milkjetmum · 21/04/2020 18:53

2 adults 2 primary children and a cat, was usually 100/week, now more like 150-200. But spending almost 0 on petrol and haven't been able to get my usual overpriced work lunches/coffee so am saving money overall.
