To ask if anybody is hearing of the huge news coming out of North Korea?

Kim Jong Un has apparently been taken severely ill after complications from a heart surgery. An American journalist tweeted that US officials have heard he is brain dead but she soon retracted the tweet saying she needs to wait for more info.

Would not like to be his surgeon!

Well we don't know what's happening for sure. I've heard a rumour that he's walking round the main square farting the national anthem. I'm not saying it's true but it's worrying if true.

Grin

@Pilbrookes, I'd heard similar, but I'm pretty sure it was burping, not farting, and there's some doubt about the walking. Might have been hopping. Source was called something like James Kirk, or was it Picard? Not sure.

His sister is terrifying. He seemed like he wanted to be seen as a proper statesman which was at least a bit encouraging. Insane how much he looks like his grandad.

Aposterhasnoname · 21/04/2020 12:10

Stop the press. Daily Mail reader has read the headlines.

And the prize for the cuntyest post on Mumsnet ever goes to....

user1493494961 · 21/04/2020 12:18

If true, it would be very big news.

TheMagiciansMewTwo · 21/04/2020 12:18

It didn't originate on the Daily Mail. I was reading reports from different sources about it during the night. It's unsubstantiated but sources (named, experts in the region) are pointing to events he would have been expected to attend but didn't.
If it's true then yy it's big news. But there's not enough information yet.

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 21/04/2020 12:21

He did disappear before for 40 days then re-emerge with a cane suggesting gout.
I would be surprised if they had scheduled surgery to mean he missed celebration of his grandfather’s birthday given how huge that is.

AmelieTaylor · 21/04/2020 12:23

@Zoecarter

What’s your aibu ??

🙄tedious twattery

Ethelfleda · 21/04/2020 12:28

Why the hell are people asking the PP what her AIBU is when it is in the title?

No, OP - YANBU to ask if we have heard this news. I hadn’t, actually.

ChardonnaysPetDragon · 21/04/2020 12:29

Gout in country where there is mass starvation. Bloody hell.

HeIsAVeryBadBoy · 21/04/2020 12:33

Only read through the first thirty or so but fuck me, why are so many people being cunty at the moment.

I love MN's usual level of cuntiness but honestly, what is going on?

WhentheRabbitsWentWild · 21/04/2020 12:38

Some of you people really are something else aren't you ? and not in a good way

Would you talk to a person in front of you like you do on here ?

rosiepony · 21/04/2020 12:43

They’re outing themselves as being completely thick with their repetitive unwitty put downs.

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 21/04/2020 12:49

@ChardonnaysPetDragon

I know. He doesn’t look like a man who misses many meals does he!

PicsInRed · 21/04/2020 12:50

Anyone who fails to understand why this is big, international, geopolitically significant news, never mind the increased abject misery coming for North Koreans about to be subjected to a 2nd brutal power struggle after only 8 years is thick.

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 21/04/2020 12:53

Here is an AIBU for those venting their lockdown frustration.

AIBU to be concerned that the non-appearance of NK’s leader at one of the country’s most significant celebrations may indicate a worrying power vacuum developing at a time of heightened regional insecurity.

UponTheBlueGuitar · 21/04/2020 13:07

Seriously... our media aren't going to be reporting anything resembling facts about this, OP. Why don't you ask some of the resident psychics of MN what is going on with Kim young'un?

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 21/04/2020 13:13

Upon
Are we not even allowed to have a discussion?

Iwalkinmyclothing · 21/04/2020 13:14

People who have no understanding at all of why the death of NK's latest dictator could be a really big deal amuse me.

twirlycat77 · 21/04/2020 13:23

I’m sure some people just come in threads to be nasty. What’s up with people. Can’t we be nice to each other.

ChicCroissant · 21/04/2020 13:31

Interestingly, the BBC News website is emphasising that although South Korea and China are saying that from their intelligence there is no evidence that he is seriously ill, they are also not denying the fact that he's had heart surgery - so that part might be true.

Who would want an unstable country with nuclear weapons?

I know, such ignorance. They think their responses make them look clever, but they just reveal their woeful lack of geopolitical knowledge.

HannahStern · 21/04/2020 13:58

MelonSugar, your contribution is?

Read the thread? I've made posts on the topic being discussed rather then just plopping on to make some snarky comment about daily mail headlines.
