Kim Jong Un has apparently been taken severely ill after complications from a heart surgery. An American journalist tweeted that US officials have heard he is brain dead but she soon retracted the tweet saying she needs to wait for more info.

Would not like to be his surgeon!

This thread title is a little alarmist!

Zoecarter · 21/04/2020 07:33

Yer I seen that last night.

What’s your aibu ??

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 21/04/2020 07:33

Interesting.

KatherineJaneway · 21/04/2020 07:35

It's just speculation at this point as he's missed a few events. Someone could say he's walking around the main square farting the national anthem and there would be no way to verify it.

Magicbabywaves · 21/04/2020 07:35

Maybe they’re hunting for a body double, like that film Dave.

bulliedintonamechange · 21/04/2020 07:39

Oh well

londonrach · 21/04/2020 07:58

Its in the daily mail this morning so must be true....

Lockheart · 21/04/2020 07:59

What do you think you are being unreasonable about?

JudyCoolibar · 21/04/2020 08:01

What do you think you are being unreasonable about?

You could ask that in relation to most AIBU threads. Why pick on this one?

JasonPollack · 21/04/2020 08:02

Ha as if North Korea closed their borders in January. Aren't we still cheerfully accepting flights?

TheClaws · 21/04/2020 08:02

It appears that he may have been ill over some months - perhaps a gout-like condition - but nothing more serious than that. It would be difficult to confirm though. NK has been conducting regular military rocket drills, the last into the sea off Japan a few days ago, and as these are usually directed by him and hold strong political significance I believe he is just fine.

listsandbudgets · 21/04/2020 08:09

I do not think it is "oh well" @bulliedintoanamechange". I agree with you to the extent that the man is odious and the regime he represents is vile.

However, North Korea has been led by one dynasty for a very long time. The people have suffered immensely. However, if there is a leadership vacuum and a battle.for the top post they may see further suffering still. They have a huge military as a percentage ofpopulation( for some people it was the only reliable way of getting a half decent diet) so any revolution or power grab has the potential to be very nasty and very bloody

And all of this potentially happening in a rogue necular state at the same time as the rest of the world has its hands full with a virus..

no thank you

Zlip · 21/04/2020 08:18

Nope, doubt anyone else has heard any news today. You're the only one, congratulations Wine

Nice title by the way.

OnlyJudyCanJudgeMe · 21/04/2020 08:20

They’ve been grooming his sister for the role for a while now, at least until his sons are older.

MelonSugar · 21/04/2020 08:20

Blue house reporting no unusual movements and can't confirm, so we shall see. But he clearly has lots of health issues.

Duvetday8 · 21/04/2020 08:21

Yes, in many ways it's of course welcome news but a part of me thinks'better the devil you know'. There are rumours his sister is much worse than he is as she tries to prove herself in a man's world

EngTech · 21/04/2020 08:22

Huge news?

Is it bigger than the CV 19 pandemic ?

Possibly False News 🙄

Plbrookes · 21/04/2020 08:26

Well we don't know what's happening for sure. I've heard a rumour that he's walking round the main square farting the national anthem. I'm not saying it's true but it's worrying if true.

Happyspud · 21/04/2020 08:27

I read it as news from the US that South Korea is a bit flummoxed by. Or did I read that wrong? If the US is the source, I don’t believe a word.

Quartz2208 · 21/04/2020 08:29

I don’t know why everyone is dismissive? North Korea and a potential change of leadership there is pretty big news (if true) given the current outlook from the pandemic could have massive implications especially considering his sister is likely to want to prove herself in a mans world

Itsabitmessy · 21/04/2020 08:30

Yes I’ve read that KJU is reportedly very ill. Are you being unreasonable? Yes I think so. It’s as yet unsubstantiated and even if he dies he will be replaced by another despot so probably no chance there,

DivGirl · 21/04/2020 08:52

His sister has been running things unofficially for ages so I doubt anything will really change until he dies, which he might not. And even if he was very ill there would be no way of verifying it.

This isn't huge news, or news really.

SimonJT · 21/04/2020 08:54

He’s been brain dead for a long time!

WanderingMilly · 21/04/2020 09:02

I have also read this news, but that South Korea haven't any intelligence on this, so we don't really know yet.
There is a lot of suffering in that country. I can't imagine what they will do if they get (or possibly already have) COVID-19, surely their half-starved population wouldn't stand a chance?
