Neighbours and my WIFI

Imrubbishatuserables · 19/04/2020 21:15

Hey!
Straight to point I got a new neighbour in my block of flat a few months ago and she asked for my wifi password to connect her console to so they could watch netflix.. i thought why not.. one other thing connected to it wont harm and she has just moved in.. it's her first home she hasn't had chance to set up her own yet. She then gets a new tv in the last few weeks and connects to my wifi but she has also connected her phone and her mates phone to it as well as they are picking up our google speakers on the network her mate joked they should play songs through my sons one in his room from their phones. So I have no idea how to change the password but would I be unreasonable to turn it off every night at 8PM? Considering we are in lockdown and she cant get her own during this time as they will need to come and connect it up. Previous tenant in that flat never had wifi either.

If she looks at anything illegal or pornographic it won't look good for you. Password changes are usually in the settings.

Puddlesplasher · 20/04/2020 17:47

FFS! Does nobody bother to read the thread before posting! OP has changed the password!

MrsBadcrumble123 · 20/04/2020 17:49

Call your provider and change your password!!

Deadpoet1 · 20/04/2020 17:51

You can't always change the password but you can get a new router which comes with a different password.

Ipadipod · 20/04/2020 17:53

She’s changed the password!!!!!!!

The only answer you need to give Op , if she does call round and says it’s not working is ‘Oh , isn’t it ?’

amusedbush · 20/04/2020 17:55

Call your provider and change your password!!

Read the full thread!!

MrMeSeeks · 20/04/2020 17:56

Good on you! 4 months! Cf should sort her own wifi out!

Bozlem80 · 20/04/2020 17:57

I had a friend who would visit her mum (me & friend went to school together) every time she visited she would ask for my WiFi password, (mum not got WiFi) I would say each time it was running slow as had that many devices connected to it, one night I had to go to the hospital & I asked if she would look after my children till my husband got in from work, this was the Oct, my WiFi over Christmas was running slow & early Jan I looked up how to change the WiFi password, I managed to do it then not long after she txt me to ask WHY MY WiFi wasn’t working cheeky bitch, she even rang my DH to ask him & he rang me to ask too, anyway a whole argument started over the WiFi to a point my DH took her side, especially when she said how much her child needed it because child was ill & had nothing to do!

PS, I don’t mind giving my WiFi password to visitors but she was crafty how she did it (think got from either my DH or from the box itself)

JudyCoolibar · 20/04/2020 17:57

Sorry to shout but -

OP HAS CHANGED THE PASSWORD. NO NEED TO TELL HER TO DO IT.

Jeeperscreepers69 · 20/04/2020 17:57

@Imrubbishatuserables. Have u even thought if she downloads gary glitter style your in a heap of shit. How irresponsible

MarvellousMonsters · 20/04/2020 17:59

“She hasn't knocked as yet..just sent ds to school so if she has seen him go out I wonder whether she will make an appearance while he isn't here.“

You’re furloughed but your son is going to school? I thought schools are only providing help for key workers?

Ethicalbluey45 · 20/04/2020 18:01

personally I would never ever share my WIFI with any of my neighbours the cheek of it who does that. A good neighbour would not even have the nerve to ask

Nanajadus · 20/04/2020 18:06

Please stop calling this lady a mug.
She was just being nice after all,
at a time when we are all meant to be being more neighbourly!
She now is asking for help and advice here.
I'm sure someone can help her sort this.
Lots of PC literates here I'm sure.
She's probably really worried now.

LoudBatPerson · 20/04/2020 18:08

^Vulnerable children and those with EHCPs are also being offered places.

strongteawith2sugars · 20/04/2020 18:13

Ohhh I think the CF will come this evening

DollyDaydream70 · 20/04/2020 18:15

YANBU She's a cheeky cow, change your password!

MacBlank · 20/04/2020 18:17

Stop being so bloody stupid.

Google ... How do I change password on (insert your company)
You can also see who has had connections, and block those devices from connecting again.

Admittedly, it's very easy to do on sky,. If you were on sky, I'd have sent you the link. .... I see your not, so I won't.

You are being a sap and now a mug, soon you'll need to get WELCOME tattooed on.your head!

WildWestWendy · 20/04/2020 18:18

WHAT DID I JUST READ! You have her your what... now, you need to get your router details and provider info, then go on to YouTube and look for changing routers password. Look for the provider's name so, for example, how do I change my Sky router password... if you get stuck just shout for help.

mummmy2017 · 20/04/2020 18:19

Are we betting on when she comes around and her excuse for needing your internet.

okiedokieme · 20/04/2020 18:20

Change the password, problem solved

KitchenConfidential · 20/04/2020 18:20

Will be interested to see if she comes asking for the new password...

OJZJ · 20/04/2020 18:20

OP plllllleeeeeeaaase let us know if she asks for it. In fact I would like a private message so I don't miss it in my sad little life Grin
And like you, I am also a bit of a pushover for a quiet life and would have done the same x

T0tallyFuckedUpFamily · 20/04/2020 18:21

WHAT DID I JUST READ!

You obviously haven’t read it, or you’d see that she’s already done that. Grin
