To ask for scary movie suggestions

Blatant misuse of AIBU I'm sure. Lockdown has my teen bored beyond belief. I'm planning a scary movie night (she's a month off 16). Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

I hope you're all coping as well as can be!

Orphan

A quiet place

Some links just in case they are too old

What kind of horror do you enjoy? Jump scares?

Maturestudentneedshelp · 19/04/2020 15:06

If you don't mind subtitles

Audition - slow burn that builds

Train to Busan - hard, fast and one of the best zombie films ever!

Pinkblueberry · 19/04/2020 15:08

Crimson Peak on Netflix - not jump out of your skin kind of scary but I thought it was fun to watch.

incognitomum · 19/04/2020 15:10

Woman in black

DamnYouAutoCarrot · 19/04/2020 15:12

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll take a look at them now.

@RiskyRetail jumpy and gore are the favourites. She's braver than me!

The Descent
Sinister
The Orphange..if dont mind subtitles. Less gore more jumpy
Also Conjouring series..again less gore but jumpy jumpy.. or I may be a wimp lol

incognitomum · 19/04/2020 15:35

I forgot about the Orphanage. I found that sad if I recall correctly?

iklboo · 19/04/2020 15:36

Conjuring and Conjuring 2. Some really good jump scares.

BabloHoney · 19/04/2020 15:39

It Follows is very creepy

Sinister
The Others
Paranormal activity (I think the first and third ones are the best)

FourEyesGood · 19/04/2020 15:39

I was terrified watching ‘Us’. And now I’m scared of scissors.

RochelleGoyle · 19/04/2020 15:57

The Descent is excellent, as is The Shining.

LudaMusser · 19/04/2020 16:00

Paranormal Activity is quite good

Insidious will make you jump for sure

The original Texas Chainsaw Massacre is good

The Exorcist is probably an eighteen

Not ever seen anything that I found true my scary though. I think the Blair Witch Project is exceptional as it cost about $10k to produce. Esp when you can hear children's voices in the dead of night in the middle of the woods, no thanks!!

DartmoorChef · 19/04/2020 16:01

Escape Room. The 2019 one. It absolutely freaked me out.

AuntMasha · 19/04/2020 16:12

The Ritual

Midsommar

Gerald’s Game

Apostle

Cabin in the Woods

DamnYouAutoCarrot · 19/04/2020 17:04

We've decided to do a blockbuster week and watch them all.. If I can sleep in between! Thank you all.

The Ring
Watched it last week, but only on condition it was the middle of the day with curtains and blinds open.

MockersxxxxxxxSocialDistancing · 19/04/2020 17:31

Deep Blue Sea with the Big Bitey Shark.

(But not The Deep Blue Sea which is Terrance Davies childhood memoir, no sharks.)

Jaynesworld · 19/04/2020 17:54

Woman in black. Do not be fooled by its rating! If still makes me run up the stairs at night to this day.

Isithometimeyet0987 · 19/04/2020 17:57

When a stranger calls (watched that one night at 13 when I was babysitting terrified me)
Halloween
Nightmare on elm street
Paranormal activity
The nun
Mama
Scream (first ones the best)
Woman in black
The hills have eyes
Wrong turn

WelcomeToGreenvale · 19/04/2020 18:08

Hereditary is the scariest movie I've ever seen, it hit every single one of my scare buttons to create a monster. Not everyone agrees but I loved/hated it and can never watch it again

MartyrGuacamole · 19/04/2020 18:08

Contagion 😱

BeanTownNancy · 19/04/2020 18:11

You've got all the time in the world so settle in for The Haunting Of Hill House on Netflix.
