To ask for scary movie suggestions

Blatant misuse of AIBU I'm sure. Lockdown has my teen bored beyond belief. I'm planning a scary movie night (she's a month off 16). Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

I hope you're all coping as well as can be!

A quiet place is as scarey as it gets for me! And I had to watch it with the sound muted, which is crazy since the whole premise is silence, but it's the only way I can cope.

Signed a wimp.

I have to say, bearing in mind your daughter is only 16, I would definitely recommend ‘Train to Busan’ as a more family-friendly horror than say ‘Martyrs’ or ‘Wolf Creek’.

Even I as a hardened horror fan don’t ever want to watch WC again and ‘Martyrs’ looks so disturbing, I can’t even watch the trailer! 😨

AuntMasha · 19/04/2020 21:20

‘A Quiet Place’ is a must watch. V.good.

Deep Blue Sea with the Big Bitey Shark.

Was off my face on mushrooms when I went to see that at the cinema.

Absolutely hilarious...

Busymum45 · 19/04/2020 21:23

Most of the horrors now are 15.
I wanted to see Train to Busan but it's subtitled 🙁

Slith · 19/04/2020 21:23

It also has Ladies Love Cool James in it - a great actor...

Fluffybutter · 19/04/2020 21:26

Saw and hostel are really gory , The babadook, I liked the IT remakes , Cabin in the woods is a favourite but it’s not really scary .
13 ghosts is a good one too

Disquieted1 · 19/04/2020 21:52

I really wouldn't recommend the original (French) Martyrs for a 15 yo. It is the kind of film that really sticks with and to you.
Have fun with Dog Soldiers instead.

Case 39

Rec, a Spanish zombie movie is brilliant and Let the right one in, the scandi original is fab. Also agree with Get out. These should all be fine for a 16 year old I think.

AvonBarksdale99 · 19/04/2020 22:18

I really liked The Babadook, a properly scary film with a good message

My preference is for animal horror films though so Lake Placid, Deep Blue Sea and Anaconda all favourites

PrincessHoneysuckle · 19/04/2020 22:23

Conjuring 2.Im a horror film lover and that made me jump loads.

Fluffybutter · 19/04/2020 22:23

Yes, Rec was great

TaTuirseOrm · 19/04/2020 22:27
