or into drawers. And I reply if they are clean enough to be worn again they should go in the wardrobe.

I might not practise what I preach but I am right. Aren't I?

I am with you OP. I don't wear the same clothes two days in a row, but I would always put trousers, skirts and dresses back in the wardrobe. They do not require washing after one wear, they need to be on hangers - so no way am I leaving them on the chair. Why on earth can't they go back in the wardrobe?

LakieLady · 19/04/2020 13:49

I thought this was what picture rails were for. At least the ones in bedrooms.

The finials on the curtain pole are also a good staging post for part-worn clothes.

LilacTree1 · 19/04/2020 13:49

“ If something is clean enough to go on your body, how is it not clean enough to touch other clothes?

This.

RainbowGlittersandSparkles · 19/04/2020 13:50

Putting dirty or worn clothes in cupboards causes moths. So she’s actually Right I have a chair for clothes that can be worn again.

WoollyMollyMonkey · 19/04/2020 13:52

Count your blessings, my daughter had a chairdrobe, floordrobe, cupboarddrobe and chest of drawersdrobe - when I looked in her wardrobe it had absolutely nothing hanging in it, but some stuff on the floor of it! 😂

TeamLannister · 19/04/2020 13:53

Another one with your DD!!

ittooshallpass · 19/04/2020 13:53

I have a perfectly functioning floordrobe Wink

Candyflosscookie · 19/04/2020 13:56

Team DD here although it sounds like you won't budge anyway OP. May the children of a thousand moths infest your wardrobe!

Rebelwithallthecause · 19/04/2020 14:01

I have a basket-robe

It’s a medium sized basket (a quarter of the size of a laundry hamper) that tucks beside my chest of drawers and fits any worn once clothes that aren’t ready for the wqsh pile yet

I don’t put worn clothes back into the wardrobe or chest but DH does and it makes me so nervous as I don’t want to encourage clothes moths

I sometimes remove said items from his drawers and wash them as he would otherwise be quite happy to have a drawer full of all once worn clothes

She needs one of these www.ikea.com/gb/en/p/knapper-standing-mirror-white-00396242/

Chair essential or hang on front of wardrobe in my room

Balmytissues · 19/04/2020 14:07

My chairdrobe got confused during a period of pathological laziness. It had - wait for it - both clean clothes taken off the airing thingymebob but not yet folded and put away, AND on top of that it had the you're-not-clean100%-clothes on top. When I came out of the period of pathological laziness, all items were washed and said chairdrobe was restored to its rightful seat at the end of the dinner table. This was in order to discourage any further bouts of laziness.
If I had a 'naice' chair though, I might feel triumphant donning it with the items for which it was designed.

Frangipanini · 19/04/2020 14:08

Buy her a cheapo valet stand.

Abreadsandwich · 19/04/2020 14:09

I'm kind of disappointed that 8 pages in and it seems DH messy floordrobe is an acceptable thing. (I'm not going to tell him!!) Although I take comfort that not everyones bedroom must look like a show home with the amount of clothes hanging around! (I think I should invest in a chest or basket for the in between clothes to bring some sort if order to them)
I didnt know about moths. For me if something is clean enough to wear again it wouldnt "pollute" the rest of my clothes. IMO (which I accept seems to be the minority on here) if it was too disgusting to touch/be near other clothes I wouldnt consider wearing it again!

tiredanddangerous · 19/04/2020 14:09

I have a chairdrobe. If I put everything back in the wardrobe I’d forget what had been worn and what hadn’t.

Balmytissues · 19/04/2020 14:10

I'm thinking a white wooden rocking chair would fit the 'naice' chairdrobe category. Tastefully draped with yesterday's fleece.

TippledPink · 19/04/2020 14:11

Your bedrooms all sound like tips if you have a chair full of clothes out all the time! If it is going to make other clothes smell, it is too dirty to wear again!

gerbo · 19/04/2020 14:11

We got my teen daughter a Grundtal Valet Stand from Idea. It's brilliant. Stands in the corner of the room and holds all her half worn stuff, only £25

Balmytissues · 19/04/2020 14:14

I had a particular problem/conundrum with 'perfectly' clean clothes, which had fake tan stains on the collar (such as just trying them on for e.g.). Usually delicate items that I didn't want to wash too often. They caused me much perplexing and a lot of mental anguish over what to do with them. The end result was they lay on the bed, until I got into a de-cluttering mode where they were inevitably delicately and reverently hand washed.

Balmytissues · 19/04/2020 14:15

I don't stink. Seriously, I don't.

Ninkanink · 19/04/2020 14:17

I drape one or two items over my chair at a time, to air them properly after having been worn, before I put them away. My room isn’t a mess, it’s perfectly tidy. And it’s not about it being too dirty to put away with other clothing - it’s about allowing the item itself to freshen properly. If it needs washing it doesn’t get put away.

KatherineJaneway · 19/04/2020 14:18

Not quite clean, not quite dirty, welcome to... the chair.

Yup

HarrySnotter · 19/04/2020 14:21

I’m with your DD I’m afraid. It’s gross to put worn clothes in the wardrobe/drawer with clean ones.

Surely if something is too gross to put back in a wardrobe you wouldn't wear it again anyway so it would go in the laundry? I don't put stuff back in the wardrobe because I'm lazy but if it was too gross to put back I wouldn't be wearing it again anyway.

raspberryk · 19/04/2020 14:24

I wish the chairdrobe was the only messy part, if you think a chair of clothes is a tip you have no idea of what a tip is.

Part worn clothes back into the wardrobe is gross, and surely you forget how many times it's been worn.

We made it to 8 pages.

I'm guessing the words grim or vile are due their appearance on this thread soon
