Has he finally lost it? What is he rambling on and on about?

Confused

@JudyCoolibar Oh they do. We just don't see it. Read the transcript from his briefing on monday and specifically look out for where he talks about his authority, which he is later questioned on. It's embarrassing www.rev.com/blog/transcripts/donald-trump-coronavirus-press-conference-transcript-april-13

I think it’s sad. I know he’s horrible but if he was your dad or grandad you’d get him neurologically evaluated, not send him out for the world to laugh at him. If he was my dad or granddad I would have disowned him decades ago. He is a horrible person, and he’s losing control hence why he is going off on these mad rants.

He has always had control, of women, of people, he has a horrible reputation for e.g. sexual harassment against women.

Even four years ago when he was running for president people were laughing at the idea that he could win.

I agree he’s awful. But presumably Ivanka and Don Jr love him? Not sure that Eric has any cognitive capacity.

How/why would you watch your dad do this and not want to get him checked out? This is neurological badness. He’s always been awful but he hasn’t always lost control of his body like this.

Does anyone who knows adult neurology know what causes this?

Justmuddlingalong · 19/04/2020 11:02

Does anyone have a link to it? It's unavailable on BBC iPlayer and I can't find it. TIA

Lordfrontpaw · 19/04/2020 11:07

I read an article by someone pointing out his slurring, speech pattern, the way he stands and turns... being indicative of some type of dementia. I forget which one though.

AlternativePerspective · 19/04/2020 11:08

Do they though? There are plenty of posters here who have toxic parents but who feel they can’t cut contact.

There is a poster on another thread whose dad does have dementia but refuses help and makes allegations against her resulting in the police turning up at her home and she has now disowned him.

Also, if you’d gone NC with a parent because of the horrible person they were then you would unlikely seek to get help for them.

Also it’s all subjective. A lot of people diagnosing over the internet in the belief that he’s ill, whereas there are also a lot who believe that he isn’t and that this is just who he is. There’s no right or wrong, and while nothing has ever been said officially we’ll never know and it’s left to everyone to form their own individual opinions.

Interesting that BBC have now taken it down, I wonder why that is.

Lordfrontpaw · 19/04/2020 11:09

They should just broadcast his entire speeches and let everyone see for themselves.

Lordfrontpaw · 19/04/2020 11:11

And the family won’t disown him - he is the president, very very rich (on paper), family brand etc. They are living a life far beyond their wildest dreams and skills. Melanias parents are in the US in the basis of her - would he go after them is she jumped ship?

CaptSkippy · 19/04/2020 11:25

He's been doing that since before the election. He never made much sense then either and people stil voted for him.

AlternativePerspective · 19/04/2020 11:28

Agreed re the family. Although I have to say there isn’t enough money in the world which would want to make me sleep with him, or even have any kind of cordial relationship with him

I’m certain that the women in his life must only be in it for the money.

I agree about his rambling speech. But the jerking seems more recent. They almost look like tics but I think he’s way too old to suddenly develop them, most tic disorders are present in childhood.

CaptSkippy · 19/04/2020 13:07

I think it's been mentioned quite a few times, but he seems to be displaying symptoms of Alzheimer's. It seems to be getting worse too.

merrymouse · 19/04/2020 13:14

I understand that people have different views about gun control, abortion, the economy, health care etc, but I can't understand why so many Americans (I know not a majority, but still a substantial number) appear to support somebody who is clearly incompetent and corrupt.

Maybe Republicans don't support the idea of a federal government, and therefore believe that all presidents are superfluous, but then why don't Republican states just campaign for independence?

Jillyhilly · 19/04/2020 13:37

I can't understand why so many Americans (I know not a majority, but still a substantial number) appear to support somebody who is clearly incompetent and corrupt.

If you’re really interested in understanding it, you’ll need to spend some time watching some popular conservative Youtubers like Stephen Crowder and Ben Shapiro and also some left-wing progressives like Jimmy Dore. And also, watch Fox. You have to to understand what they’re thinking. I did this to understand the “other side” better, and it’s been very, very interesting.

Most of the people I watch are not stupid belligerent racists. I don’t agree with their policy proposal, but I can see that they are intelligent and thoughtful and deeply troubled by what’s happened to US politics over the last 25 years.

Some of these people voted for Obama. It’s my belief that Obama’s years in office led directly to Trump. We have one massive egotist because of the legacy of another massive egotist.

And now, mind-bogglingly, the Democrats are playing Joe Biden, an Establishment politician in obvious mental decline currently involved in a sexual harassment case. It’s just astonishing.

merrymouse · 19/04/2020 14:44

As I said, I understand that different people have different political views. I don't understand why they put their trust in Trump. All politicians have faults, but Trump is in a completely different league. The whole world is in crisis and Trump is deliberately stirring up far right activists with guns.
