To be sick of 'if you voted for the Tory government then you're a hypocrite for clapping'

ScarletFever · 16/04/2020 22:26

I've seen this a lot on social media, and I didn't vote tory (I voted anyone but tory) but I feel that people are clapping to show they are thankful for the nhs firstly, but also for the other front line workers, the carers and cleaners and bin men and everyone else who is doing their bit.

I'll probably get down voted to hell, but the sanctimonious 'oh you're such a hypocrite ' is just so wearing

OP posts:
Easilyanxious · 17/04/2020 00:31

You shamed someone in social media for not coming out to clap sorry but think that says more about you than them

OneandTwenty · 17/04/2020 00:33

I made a post on Facebook last night about a woman who lives near me who hasn't come out of her house once to clap the NHS

I normally hate the expression, but I genuinely feel so embarrassed and cringing on your behalf.

At least you public shamed yourself, and I promise you that so many people have been judging you - and usually taking screen shots of your rants to share them!

Easilyanxious · 17/04/2020 00:34

Op yanbu. Who people vote for is private and their choice
If people go out to clap the nhs that is also their choice yet people in mn seem to want to be dictators and tell others what they must do

OneandTwenty · 17/04/2020 00:34

a political weapon to submit most of the working class up North who betrayed their ideals and voted Conservative.

you always wanted to be an actor, didn't you?

CendrillonSings · 17/04/2020 00:39

Electrical

Aww are you sick of it, pet? How sad. Never mind. Why not send your sadness in the form of cash, to NHS employees?
tories have no excuse to pretend to be supporting the NHS employees risking their lives all year round, or to consume their labour when they end up sick, or pretend to care about the disabled, the poor, the POC, ever. Own your bigotry, if you’re ashamed (you should be.), assess yourself. Tory fans can shove their claps right up their soulless holes. HTH.

Don’t worry, I’m sure that one day you’ll get over the silly old Marxist getting wiped out in a landslide! Grin

Leflic · 17/04/2020 00:39

I’m clapping the workforce not the bloody institution.

Easilyanxious · 17/04/2020 00:45

Some very bitter people on here
You know it's ok to vote for whoever you like and not to dislike people that voted for another party . Maybe some people actually look into facts before voting and not base on Facebook posts
But whoever anyone votes for that is their choice and their business and they have a democratic right to have a say , if we all thought the same there would be no need to have different parties
But some on here really need to learn to accept their choice or point of view doesn't have to be someone else's .

DeeCeeCherry · 17/04/2020 00:45

Hypocritical public virtue-signalling. Why don't Tory voters cheer as well, in solidarity with Tory party who cheered when denying nurses a payrise?

& you've listed low paid/minimum wage workers in your post OP so you're quite out of touch anyway tbh

KathyBriggs360 · 17/04/2020 00:52

@OneandTwenty I didn't shame myself at all, I did my part every Thursday evening and I am proud to call myself a supporter of the NHS. If I want to call out rude people who don't appreciate the work that our beleaguered health services are doing for us then I will. Your scorn means nothing to me.

Smileyaxolotl1 · 17/04/2020 00:53

Yy easily

And leflic 100% agree. It’s about the brave individuals.

Smileyaxolotl1 · 17/04/2020 00:55

kathybriggs you must be joking surely.

Who the fuck do you think you are?

DdraigGoch · 17/04/2020 00:56

isitorisntit, what a list, they should be bloody ashamed but of course they won’t be, total hypocrites
@user764329056 they might be, if the claim was true. In reality they voted against an amendment to the Humble Address that (among other woolly platitudes) merely "calls on the government" to lift the public sector pay restraint. Purely symbolic and has no real effect beyond a few headlines. As it happened, the public sector pay restraint got lifted anyway.

It's amazing how many people are so gullible that they just read something on social media and repeat it as gospel.

Icantstopeatinglol · 17/04/2020 00:58

I made a post on Facebook last night about a woman who lives near me who hasn't come out of her house once to clap the NHS and somehow it got to the point where she ended up commenting and apologising for her behaviour

Fucking hell thats disgusting!! Honestly, do what you want to do but don’t go shaming people into doing something just cos you think it’s ‘right’! That’s awful! You’ve no idea why this person might not want to go out and clap!
Op I voted Tory and I love the NHS, so do my parents and my dm is a nurse. I don’t hate the NHS because I voted Tory and anyone that thinks that is being ridiculous. Doesn’t bother me one bit but they're wrong. It’s not black and white and never will be. If people didn’t abuse the NHS like they have for years it wouldn’t be in the state it is now.

Actionhasmagic · 17/04/2020 01:00

Yabvvvvvu a vote for Tory is vote to kill the nhs

Smileyaxolotl1 · 17/04/2020 01:02

action
Nothing like a bit of hyperbole.
Do you actually believe bollocks like this or did you just read it on a momentum forum?

Actionhasmagic · 17/04/2020 01:02

We’ve all seen the clip of the Tory mps cheering when nurses pay rise was voted against. You should be ashamed if you voted Tory

DdraigGoch · 17/04/2020 01:02

@KathyBriggs360 tell me, what was Erich Mielke like as a colleague?

DdraigGoch · 17/04/2020 01:05

We’ve all seen the clip of the Tory mps cheering when nurses pay rise was voted against. You should be ashamed if you voted Tory
@Actionhasmagic the more level-headed of us actually check to see whether it's true before repeating things we read on Bookface. Spoiler: it's not. See Fullfact for more details.

Smileyaxolotl1 · 17/04/2020 01:07

actuon Why don’t you read one of the 2 or 3 comments above that explain what actually happened in that instance.

CendrillonSings · 17/04/2020 01:51

We’ve all seen the clip of the Tory mps cheering when nurses pay rise was voted against.

How did gullibly believing all the Momentum propaganda work out for you?

But its true.

All those who voted tory were happy with the cuts, until it affected them personally and now it has they are out there proclaiming as heroes the poor buggers working to save lives with no equipment and not enough staff. Totally missing the irony that without the cuts they voted for, things such as PPE may not be running out quite so quickly because hospitals would not be operating hand to mouth.

They are heroes and would be even if they had all they need, but lets not pretend that when Boris was thanking the staff that cared for him, his video wouldnt have been a hell of a lot longer with all the people he would have needed to name check if they were properly staffed in the first place. And he is a member of the party that is directly responsible for the fact that they are not.

Snugglepiggy · 17/04/2020 03:37

I'm more pissed off with the neighbours out rattling pans and clapping and saying 'we're all in this together' then having people from other households sneaking in -or blatantly going in - on a regular basis.Or popping out to the shops on any excuse. What do they think the rest of us feel when we haven't seen family and friends for weeks.
And for do a fact check on nurses pay.The vote was against lifting the public sector pay cap for ALL workers.Several months on they voted to lift it and nurses were amongst the first to be awarded a pay rise of 6.5 % over 3 years .Funny how that bit never gets a mention.

Feodora · 17/04/2020 03:56

NHS is a woefully managed bottomless pit with some amazing people working for it.Do I think labour would chuck more money at the NHS, yes. Do I think it would be valid for money or would all go to the areas where it is most needed, no.

We know that NHS until last year had the lowest annual increases in funding since 2011. I find it hard to buy the argument that reduced funding will have had no effect on NHS services and and any NHS problems are down to poor management and waste.

Feodora · 17/04/2020 04:08

Ugh, I phrased the following badly in the post above:

‘We know that NHS until last year had the lowest annual increases in funding since 2011.’

I meant to write: ‘We know since 2011 up until last year the 0 NHS has had the lowest annual increases in funding since its inception 75 years ago. ‘
