The nice man over the road leant on his car horn for a solid 30 seconds. My poor baby girl woke up absolutely terrified and has literally screamed nonstop since.

I am full of gratitude for our NHS and i think its wonderful that so many people want to show their support. Could we maybe do it at 6pm instead? Fucking please?

Please ask him not to do that again. It's illegal to sound a car horn whilst stationary anyway.

Dougt · 16/04/2020 21:56

Yes!!!Why is it 8 pm? Even 7 pm would be better. My DC would love to join in but we are exhausted what with working full time from home and trying to look after them so not keeping them up. Fortunately no car horns here yet but it’s only a matter of time...

RuffleCrow · 16/04/2020 21:57

You're right, we could do it any time between 9am-6pm and it would be fine. Too many kids trying sleep at 8pm. Also sounding your horn in a built up area is an offence if you don't have good reason, isn't it? Or is that after 10pm? (Non driver here)

SomeoneElseEntirelyNow · 16/04/2020 21:57

Tbh if he hadn't done that the fireworks from the house behind us or the lady banging pots together next door would have woken her anyway. It's not him i have a problem with, just the whole concept of making so much fucking noise at bedtime.

Ive read that back and am horrified by how middle-aged and grumpy i sound! Maybe IABU.

Pots and pans banging, yelling, screaming, fireworks and someone blowing a whistle, in my area. I’ve now finally calmed down my child with SNs.wankers.

bigchris · 16/04/2020 22:01

I'd take screaming baby and hold it in hornblowers face Grin

bigchris · 16/04/2020 22:01

Fire works is ridiculous

Pots and pans ok if only for a minute

Namechangervaver · 16/04/2020 22:02

Sorry, but the way you described it made me laugh Grin

NoIDontWatchLoveIsland · 16/04/2020 22:02

Loud bloody music here OP, plus pans, firecrackers etc. DD woke crying, took 30 mins to resettle her and she's been tossing and turning all evening since. Sad

Lucienandjean · 16/04/2020 22:03

We had bagpipes! Confused

MashedSpud · 16/04/2020 22:04

Someone blows a tuba near here 😂

Kuponut · 16/04/2020 22:05

Someone's done exactly the same outside our house the last two weeks and woken both my kids (one of whom is very anxious about everything anyway) up both times. I'm grateful at least that this time he got the time right cos last time he had a bit of an attack of premature twatulation and went off early so tried to style it out and went again at 8pm.

If they made it 6pm the kids could join in and it wouldn't be terrifying the fuck out of kids who've gone to sleep and wonder what the hell's going on (and I might not want to murder horn boy).

Dougt · 16/04/2020 22:05

Who decided 8pm, that’s what I want to know!

WickedlyPetite · 16/04/2020 22:06

One of our neighbours brought out a set of 3 drums.

A few streets away someone set up a PA system and 'treated' half the town to a very out of tune rendition of "Hey Jude".

Fudging ridiculous and total attention seeking.

At what point will this all stop, I wonder?

nopenothappening · 16/04/2020 22:06

Half an hour of LOUD music. Plus all the other nonsense.

They're basically having street parties round here. Hmm

MeerkatMolly · 16/04/2020 22:06

Simone has an air horn near where we are. Pots, pans, claps - no problem! An air horn though?!

SomeoneElseEntirelyNow · 16/04/2020 22:06

@Namechangervaver DD is now asleep (finally) and i can sorta see your point - in my defense he is usually a very nice man and he does live over the road!

MeerkatMolly · 16/04/2020 22:07

Someone, not Simone! Although maybe Simone does have an air horn too!

formerbabe · 16/04/2020 22:07

He obviously just cares more than you op Wink

Kuponut · 16/04/2020 22:07

Oh yeah all bank holiday we had "lockdown discos" which basically consisted of blaring your shit music and claiming you were helping your street bond as a community and bawling abuse at anyone who disagreed with you on social media too.

80sMum · 16/04/2020 22:08

Someone's just posted on a group I'm in that people near her were letting off fireworks - and others in the group were saying how great that was.

I think it's getting a bit out of hand, personally. We had someone blasting one of those irritating multi toned car horns constantly for about a minute and a half!

SomeoneElseEntirelyNow · 16/04/2020 22:09

@formerbabe urgh you're right, im gonna go give my head a wobble and polish up my trumpet skills for next week so I'm not letting the side down.

Chochito · 16/04/2020 22:10

Just put your child to bed at 20:10.

wolfmom · 16/04/2020 22:10

@nopenothappening and @WickedlyPetite sounds like my street except we have the pa system set up for random performances all week.

JustOneSquareofDarkChocolate · 16/04/2020 22:10

The first thing I thought when i heard it it was going to be 20:00 was “thank god I don’t have small children” because they would wake up/not go to sleep for hours and hours
