Glad he’s got his priorities right in the middle of a pandemic. He’s really, really want to see mumsnet closed down and has a fair following - even been on telly

Saying that humans cannot change sex is seen as transphobic

I've just looked at that tweet out of curiousity.
You've just posted one snapshot of a comment with that sentence which kind of skews it a bit?
The same comment also says males cannot be female.
Human's can't biologically change sex, that's fact - there's a fine line between "but we're just saying the truth" and flat out saying males cannot be female though when trans women are legally recognised as women and have a right to live their lives as women.
That's where transphobia lies, and it's hard to see unless you get your eyes opened to it by threads/comments on here.
No I'm not getting into the inevitable "so what IS a woman, is it fluffy pink things and dresses? crap.
Just saying.

DickKerrLadies · 16/04/2020 20:01

The same comment also says males cannot be female.

Well yes, as that's sort of implied by "people can't change sex", isn't it?

How can one be fine but not the other?

MrsSnippyPants · 16/04/2020 20:05

But males cannot be female WotchaTalkinBoutWillis. Are you saying they can? People with a GRC are legally recognised as women or men in SOME circumstances but not all.
How do any men 'live their lives as women' without resorting to stereotypes? Confused

That’s made me pay my £49.99 and I don’t care if it’s lost.

Ilovemystarter · 16/04/2020 20:11

He wants to stop women debating whether we (women) should be allowed our single sex spaces. To stop us debating whether male bodied people should be allowed into women’s changing rooms, refuges, prisons, youth hostel dormitories, sports etc.
It’s not just that he believes it’s wrong for us to have single sex spaces. He presumably wants to stop us even talking about it (on the women’s rights board). Why else would he be doing this?

Mummyoflittledragon · 16/04/2020 20:12

I’ve already signed up and paid for the year. Doubly glad I did now.

donquixotedelamancha · 16/04/2020 20:15

If, as you seem to be saying, you accept biological reality (and a large proportion of 'TRAs' do not) then how is it possible to discuss your statement without 'getting into what is a woman' and pointing out the thing you say should not be said?

How is it possible to highlight the assaults in women's prisons if we can't mention why some 'women' shouldn't be there?

How do we talk about the huge ramifications of proposed legal changes to allow self ID?

How do we explain why women should be allowed single sex sports without mentioning the sex of the 'notable' winners.

PrimalLass · 16/04/2020 20:19

Of course males can't be female. They are male. The clue is in the words.

JellyFishSquish · 16/04/2020 20:20

Wotcha-- of course you're "not getting into the inevitable "so what IS a woman, is it fluffy pink things and dresses? crap." Because there lies madness? Is it because if we define what a woman is, we are being transphobic? A bit of a conundrum, no?

UniversalAunt · 16/04/2020 20:20

We buy a lot of Arla Lacto-free produce.
I am watching this debate with interest.

UniversalAunt · 16/04/2020 20:21

I have no doubt that Arla Dairies consider the sex of cattle to be binary...

CoolCarrie · 16/04/2020 20:24

What I find telling is the general lack of “ noise, “ as it were, from trans men. I think they just want to get on with their lives.

voddiekeepsmesane · 16/04/2020 20:25

I have no doubt that Arla Dairies consider the sex of cattle to be binary...

If they did not then I fear their business plan would not have stood the test of time Grin

OvaHere · 16/04/2020 20:26

No I'm not getting into the inevitable "so what IS a woman, is it fluffy pink things and dresses? crap.

Why not get into it? It's kind of the crux really. If people can't change sex, which you acknowledge, then stereotypes/superficialness is all that's left.

If someone thinks any form of biological reality is transphobic then of course they will see transphobia everywhere. There's another thread running discussing the immune response of the XX chromosome and why this might explain more men being affected by CV19 than women. Is that transphobic?

Most people would say no but if we go by TRA 'rules' technically it is because if anyone decided to study it they'd have to put men and transwomen in the same group ditto women and transmen, which would mean acknowledging reality.

WrathofFaeKIopp · 16/04/2020 20:30

I have no doubt that Arla cows are adult female cows.
I am confident that the Arla company knows biological facts.

Why does Harrop wants to goad people into shutting down a forum for mums I wonder?

BanKittenHeels · 16/04/2020 20:33

Isn’t this the man who doxed a fellow NHS employee and was investigated by the GMC as a result?

Diva66 · 16/04/2020 20:40

He’s a misogynistic pillock, always spouting off trying to make a name for himself.

PurpleCrowbarWhereIsLangCleg · 16/04/2020 20:41

I'm overseas & can only buy lurpak unsalted, which generally makes me so grumpy that I just go without butter.

Just added a massive pack to my online grocery shop. I'll train myself to like it unsalty!

Harrop is a peculiar little man. He's certainly no asset to the sort of batshit MRA he keeps trying to promote, because he just makes such a crashing twat of himself Every. Single. Time.

I suspect he started off with grandiose plans to be a TV doctor 'personality' type, & can't quite row back in his head from how badly he's fucked up in the last couple of years.

Mummyoflittledragon · 16/04/2020 20:56

Purplecrowbar
I adapted to unsalted butter in certain situations abroad. It’s nice with crystallised salt. Dh is french. He introduced me to baguette bread with unsalted butter, radishes and crystallised salt. Buttered pretzels (Unsalted butter) with crystallised salt also good.

Maighdeann · 16/04/2020 20:57

Omg now this just makes me want to sign up now.

FrippEnos · 16/04/2020 21:00

Here is a thought (please stay with me)

We could have a room of people half of which believe trans women are women and the other half believe woman = adult human female.

The name of an animal is put on a board

Those that believe that cow = cow move to one side of the room

Those that believe that Trans cow = cow move to the other

Both are milked. (can you see where I am going with this?)

The people get to drink the milk from the side that they have chosen.

After all if trans women are women trans cows must be cows.

(I apologise for any offense caused)

nauticant · 16/04/2020 21:00

Could you not try sprinkling a little salt onto your hot butter toast PurpleCrowbarWhereIsLangCleg?

Jeaniealogy · 16/04/2020 21:01

Never heard of him, thankfully
