...ground, even if you intend to pick them up on your way back is selfish and inconsiderate of others

I hate this. I just bag it and carry it until either I find a bin or I get home. It’s not fair on other people and can be dangerous to wildlife, even if you do intend to collect it later.

Chloemol · 16/04/2020 00:51

This is so wrong. All those saying they pick it up on the way back, well actually lots don’t.. people using the same path don’t want to play e the poo or dodge the poo bag. It’s bagged home, just carry it
And before anyone says anything, yes i have dogs, yes I pick up after them, yes i carry the bag until I can find a bin.

People who dont and leave it, to collect it later, or not at all are not doing dog walkers any favours and need to stop being selfish to others

LaurieMarlow · 16/04/2020 00:58

People who do this are barely civilised. It’s revolting.

Loads ‘forget’ Hmm and then eventually the bag gets broken and they’ve littered a plastic bag as well as smearing shit all over the street.

Dicks.

Syrrup · 16/04/2020 00:58

Yeah its foul. It's really not hard to take it home, my boy is 45kg with a sensitive tummy and I'm happy to carry the bag in my pocket. Theres no excuse

PapayaCoconut · 16/04/2020 01:00

If you're too grossed out to carry a sealed bag with your little darling's shit in it, then you shouldn't have got yourself a dog, as you clearly don't have the stomach for the less cuddly aspects of pet ownership. My parents had a dog when I was a teenager and we used to tie the bag to the leash. Yeah, it's not nice, but it's even less nice for other people to have to contend with a path covered in old shitbags that dog owners never intended to forgot to pick up.

Threelionsandalioness · 16/04/2020 01:00

Shit satchel Grin brilliant !
Sorry op nothing sensible to add but ss literally made me lol x

LaurieMarlow · 16/04/2020 01:00

If you can’t handle carrying the bag, you aren’t mature enough to have a dog.

Mothership4two · 16/04/2020 01:01

People who leave bags of poo and don't collect, or those who leave turds there unbagged, are selfish. Don't see what the problem is if dog walkers pick it up on their way back if their are no bins on their walk.

Mothership4two · 16/04/2020 01:03

Actually think quite the opposite of some of the comments. If you are so grossed out by seeing a small bag at the side of the path, how do you cope with picking up dog poo?

Whichoneofyoudidthat · 16/04/2020 02:55

It’s gross. Most dog walkers don’t bother to pick k them up

Mothership4two · 16/04/2020 03:11

That is gross

Mothership4two · 16/04/2020 03:15

Interesting article about poo bag alternatives. Not an answer to OP's question though.

FinnefanFox · 16/04/2020 03:20

None of you should be out on a hours walk regardless, do not use your dogs as an excuse, clearly flouting the rules on exercise. And as for the dog shit, as long as it's collected then who cares!

Lalala205 · 16/04/2020 03:31

The trees 'decorated' with dog poo bags are vile especially on country walks where folk clearly cba to carry them to the nearest dog shit bin. Far better to stick and flick if it's in the countryside than to leave it to fester for the next 100yrs whilst the plastic bag breaks down. I've also been amazed and really annoyed when picking up beer cans, plastic bags, sandwich wrappers tossed in the general direction of a bin (but not put enough effort to put them inside it 😒) when out with the dog. I'm of the general opinion some people are just total arseholes 😂

nellythenarwhal · 16/04/2020 03:33

Everyone cares (except for idiots who think it's ok to do that)

They are unsightly, a health hazard and the bag itself is a threat to wildlife- enough reasons for you?

user1473878824 · 16/04/2020 03:35

I don’t particularly want to do my cat’s litter tray but I have her, so I do. You may not want to carry some dog poo around with you but you own a dog SO YOU DO. Sorry if you find that inconvenient. You shouldn’t have a dog then.

Lalala205 · 16/04/2020 03:36

@FinnefanFox Umm, who do you think is collecting it exactly? The dog shit fairy? The local council then have to spend public money to deploy workers to go remove it so it can be disposed of hygienically vs knobheads leaving plastic and animal waste all over the shop.

LaurieMarlow · 16/04/2020 06:40

And as for the dog shit, as long as it's collected then who cares!

Collected by who? Quite a lot of it isn’t collected.

BiteyShark · 16/04/2020 06:45

I agree.

I have a special bag that I put my used dogs poo bags in so I can carry it with me until I see a bin or when I get home.

Mosschopz · 16/04/2020 06:49

There seem to be a lot of people on this thread who have a dog but don’t think they have to deal with it’s poo. Bag and bin or carry it until you find a bin...leaving it for later or tying it to a tree is grim beyond belief.

HugeAckmansWife · 16/04/2020 07:00

I'm noticing a lot more unbagged shit that usual since lockdown began I think because there are fewer people about some dog owners think they can get away with it. There was, a massive pile left just by my gate. Grim.

lotusbell · 16/04/2020 07:01

I can honestly say I have never seen anyone pick up an abandoned bag of poo and walk off with it. I have never seen a bag if poo on the ground and thought "oh that's ok, the owner will be picking that up on their way back!".
Why would you honestly think it's ok to 'temporarily' leave your dog's bagged shit somewhere and collect it later? Go for a walk where there are bins on the path or take a bigger carrier bag to house all your filled poop bags.
I am 4 tears into renting a house on a main road, the only one in the terrace with hedges and bushes at the front. I had a few days last week where I went crazy and decided to tackle it and cut a load back. Among the litter and plastic bottles and even a beer can I found wedged into the hedges, I also found a bag of dog poo. Yes, some horrible bastard had walked past and disposed of bag in my hedge. Not in the middle of nowhere, in a residential area. Just despicable.

Cacaca · 16/04/2020 07:06

Disgusting. The amount of bags of shit lying about (that are still there days after) tell you that people are not picking them up on their way back. It doesn’t make you a more responsible owner than one who doesn’t bag the shit.

lotusbell · 16/04/2020 07:08

The problem is for those saying it's fine if the dog owner collects it on the way back, how do you know they come back to collect? What if that walk last hours or they have to take a detour or another route? Why should others have to suffer it for that time inbetween?
As I said, my first thought when I see an abandoned bag is never "oh I'm sure they'll be picking that up on their way back".
As someone else said, if you can cope with picking it up and bagging it, but can't cope with carrying it, maybe a dog is not for you.

UnfinishedSymphon · 16/04/2020 07:09

@FinnefanFox why should they be out for an hour?
