...ground, even if you intend to pick them up on your way back is selfish and inconsiderate of others

Totally. I don't get it, dog walker doing a "good" thing by bagging the shit but then leaving it there. Not just shit but a plastic bag of shit

AmelieTaylor · 15/04/2020 23:37

If people pick them up on the way back then I don't have an issue with it. No sense in carrying it around for an hour is there?

user1473878824 · 15/04/2020 23:40

Yes, there is. Because I then don’t have to step around bags of your dog’s shit, or wise not see one and step on it.

Kellylabrant87 · 15/04/2020 23:40

I don’t understand people who bag the poo and leave it there, however if I’m going to a place where I know for a fact there’s no bins,
I‘lll bag it and tie it to a tree or something and grab it on my way back and take it home to bin it.
Would never just leave it there!

1Morewineplease · 15/04/2020 23:40

I’ve never understood it. Poo bags are cheap as chips. There’s absolutely no excuse.
We take them with us every day when we walk our dog. Our local bins are open but if they weren’t we’d take the poo bags home.
I’ve got absolutely no patience for anyone who drops their poo bags on the floor just because local bins are closed.
Shame on them and they don’t deserve to keep a pet.

user1473878824 · 15/04/2020 23:40

You have a dog. Your obligation when you have a dog is to deal with it’s shit.

SerendipitySunshine · 15/04/2020 23:40

What's the problem is they pick it up on the way home?

1Morewineplease · 15/04/2020 23:42

There’s no need to hang it on a tree to pick up on your way home, either. Utter nonsense. Just pick it up and keep hold of it.

wineandroses1 · 15/04/2020 23:43

Yes but if you intend to pick them up on the way back then put them somewhere out of other walker/dogs way and collect them and put them in the bin. I’m so pissed off with walkers across our fields leaving bags of dog poo in hedges, hanging from trees or dumped on the path. Why? I assume these twats want to look good picking up their dog poos but then dump/sling them when no one else is looking. Selfish twats.

Aloe6 · 15/04/2020 23:46

Yabu. I place on the side of the route and collect on my way back. Not tied in a tree though, that’s odd. It’s also odd to find a poo troll has stolen my poo bag.

JasonPollack · 15/04/2020 23:49

People obviously forget all the time though because the poo bags remain! Can you honestly say that you have never once forgotten?

I plan my route past bins, or if that isn't possible then you need to put the (bagged) poo in your pocket. It simply isn't reasonable to leave it lying around to gross out other people.

Would you just leave your other litter on the floor? I hope not.

5zeds · 15/04/2020 23:51

I think it’s fine if you go back and throw it away. Why would you want people to walk around with a turd?

PegasusReturns · 15/04/2020 23:52

Leaving them lying around either on floor or hanging in a tree is minging.

You don’t want to walk around with a bag of shit for an hour? Well I don’t want to be confronted with numerous bags of shit as I take my walk.

Aloe6 · 15/04/2020 23:53

if that isn't possible then you need to put the (bagged) poo in your pocket

😂

Absolutely not!

JammyGeorge · 15/04/2020 23:53

Leaving bags of shite laid around the place to pick up on your way back is gross.

Why should people trying to enjoy the outdoors have to dodge their kids around them.

As for hanging dog shit from trees for any reason and for any length of time, I just have no words, it is revolting.

If you have a dog and are used to bags of shit maybe if doesn't seem as disgusting to them? Who knows.

CatBatCat · 15/04/2020 23:53

In the meantime everyone else has to step over your bags of shit before you come back to pick it up. Just carry it, selfish gits.

teaandajammydodger · 15/04/2020 23:53

Disgusting. YANBU.

SilverOtter · 15/04/2020 23:55

I hate this too. Why can't people just be responsible dog owners?

Lockheart · 15/04/2020 23:58

I don't see what the issue is to be honest. If it's bagged it won't smell.

Bagging it up and leaving it in a hedge? No.

Not picking it up and just leaving it? No.

Bagging it up and taking it home? Great.

If someone has multiple dogs on leads they might not have hands free to carry, and if you're rural there are few to no bins. Especially in the middle of a field.

I don't see the sense in putting it in your pocket when you can just pick it up on the way back. Poo still gets bagged up and goes in the bin like it should do.

Lockheart · 15/04/2020 23:59

@SilverOtter if someone is bagging up their dogs poo and taking it home I'd say that IS responsible dog ownership.

Anoisagusaris · 15/04/2020 23:59

Turns my stomach.

The ‘floor’ is inside a building (where I’m from). Is it used to mean the ground elsewhere?

TreacherousPissFlap · 16/04/2020 00:06

I am distinctly weedy in the nose department and have no desire to carry a bag of shit for two hours or so. I leave it somewhere prominent and collect it on the way back (if I'm somewhere where it's inappropriate to "stick and flick")
I have no issues with this at all. DH OTOH carries a small man bag to tenderly cart the shit around with him. I call it his shit satchel.

TemoraryUsername · 16/04/2020 00:12

The trouble is that people either "forget" or forget. The nature reserve I used to frequent even put up hooks on poles specifically for you to leave your poo bags and collect again at the end of your walk (and had poo bins a couple of hundred yards away in the car parks anyway) because they were sick of poo bag trees and the grazing animals being put at risk of choking on the ones left on the ground - the fuckers just abandon their poo bags on the hooks and they build up over days until presumably a warden has the unenviable job of dealing with them all Angry

I've always carried it with me (it's tied up inside a bag for goodness sake what's the problem with doing that?) or they tend to go at the beginning of a walk, in which case it's easiest to pop back to the bin. I've never understood the logic of leaving it ad returning to it.

Yesmate · 16/04/2020 00:14

It’s disgusting. Bag it and carry to the next poo bin or in your own bin at home.
I don’t want to see bags of shit in the floor when I’m out walking.

Mothership4two · 16/04/2020 00:27

There is one walk I do that only has a poo bin at the entrance and you have to walk back the way you came, so I may leave a bagged parcel of joy on one of the banks by the side of the path and collect it on my way back rather than carry it there and back. Not tied to a fence or tree or on the path itself, so no stepping over. I am not sure what is so gross about looking at a plastic bag? Mine are also degradable. I have never forgotten to retrieve it.

I do find this habit of making poo bag trees or leaving bags scattered around, and not binning them, weird and bloody unacceptable. There is a large field near us that has three poo bins and people still leave bags scattered about. I know some councils have asked dog walkers not to bag, because of this, and just leave the poo, which is understandable but grim.
