To think that leaving bags of dogshit on the floor when you go for a walk

...ground, even if you intend to pick them up on your way back is selfish and inconsiderate of others

5zeds. not again? What part of the cost of going in to empty these bins that aren't near a car accessible area are you not understanding? Once again, would you be personally happy to walk in through a footpath, fill a black bag full of faeces and carry that back down a footpath to your vehicle? If so, maybe you should set these bins up yourself and fund/facilitate the collection.

Or, maybe lazy arse dog owners could actually deal with their own dogs shit. They are out for a walk right? Then they can walk back to the bin.

ErrolTheDragon · 17/04/2020 09:46

Or get the bin moved to where it’s obviously needed?

The bag heaps are down a path where it would be much harder to get the sacks of rubbish from, on foot (obv), through a gate... ludicrous idea.

5zeds · 17/04/2020 09:49

@WaxOnFeckOff I think it’s a good use of money to have our parks fit for purpose but I can see you disagree. As to if I want to empty bins myself Confused I probably do things on a daily basis that the majority of people wouldn’t want to do. For me it’s no different than sanitary bins in female toilets. Yes you can carry everything with you OR we can design our environments to fit our needs.

You do seem very angry about this. People genuinely can hold very different opinions. Tell me if it was cheaper than alternatives would you object to bins being available?

LaurieMarlow · 17/04/2020 09:56

Well of course it’s different. There are a limited number of public toilets. There are not a limited number of places people dog walk.

I find it extraordinary that you don’t take responsibility for your dog’s mess. It’s like something a small child would try to pull.

Did you not fully think through the implications of having a dog? You should have. It’s disgraceful behaviour.

LaurieMarlow · 17/04/2020 09:56

It’s disgusting behaviour that affects everyone else. Of course people are angry.

Xenia · 17/04/2020 09:58

Very angry. it is disgusting. I am not a dog lover anyway and yet I have to clear the stuff up!

5zeds · 17/04/2020 09:59

What disgraceful behaviour Grin. I’ve said upthread that my dog shits at home, but that I think it’s fine to leave the turd in a bag and come back and bin it later. Is the “disgrace” that I think differently to you or that I dare to voice it?

ErrolTheDragon · 17/04/2020 10:00

It's a good use of money in parks - I've never been in one that didn't have bins. They generally are on paths which are easily accessible by the sorts of vehicles used by the council workers.

It's completely different in the countryside, which is what most of us are probably talking about. You mentioned what's done in other countries, maybe you're somewhere that doesn't have a huge network of public footpaths?

5zeds · 17/04/2020 10:03

Nope, I’m in the uk but we don’t have this issue, in that people stash and bin reliably. If there are piles of bags as described in one place then it’s obvious a bin is needed.

ErrolTheDragon · 17/04/2020 10:04

If people were all genuinely leaving a bag well hidden and collecting it on the way back, then there would be no observed problem.

One bag left unhidden is very likely to 'licence' others to think it's ok to dump and leave theirs, unfortunately.

LaurieMarlow · 17/04/2020 10:05

The behaviour is disgraceful.

Coming back to pick it up later doesn’t exonerate it because ...

It normalises it for others
It’s unsightly and horrible, even if only temporary
No guarantees it won’t split, fall attract animals in the meantime
The high, high proportion of ‘forgetting’ Confused

I think people who do this are animals themselves tbh. And certainly shouldn’t have charge of one.

I can’t believe people have so little respect for their environment or take so little responsibility for their own choices. What dicks.

5zeds · 17/04/2020 10:06

If you were the person who’s job it was to clean the path, would you rather empty a bin or pick bags up from the floor?

5zeds · 17/04/2020 10:10

I on the other hand think it’s perfectly reasonable given the inadequate facilities.

WaxOnFeckOff · 17/04/2020 10:12

Neither. If folk would do as they were supposed to, neither would be required. I'd make owners fund a compulsory DNA register and match the poo back to the owners and slap them with £1000 fine - every time.

5zeds · 17/04/2020 10:13

That seems a teeny bit more expensive than a bin. Grin

LolaSmiles · 17/04/2020 10:15

Are you also ok with people littering rather than carrying their rubbish to a bin if they decide there's not a bin close enough?

MeridianB · 17/04/2020 10:18

Would the dog owners who dump, even ‘temporarily’, be happy for others to hang bags of dog poo on the hedges and trees etc in their front gardens?

5zeds · 17/04/2020 10:18

I guess if you had a bag of wrappers post picnic on the beach I’d be fine with you leaving it while you swam and taking it up to the bin in the car park at the end. I’m not sure why it’s so hard to understand that your ideas about what is clean/acceptable are not universal Confused

5zeds · 17/04/2020 10:19

I would be extremely annoyed if anyone came on my land without my permission.

LaurieMarlow · 17/04/2020 10:20

I on the other hand think it’s perfectly reasonable given the inadequate facilities.

That’s just abdication of responsibilities. Acting like a total child.

Anyone who has a dog in the UK knew what the score was before they got one. They knew the facility situation.

They aren’t prepared to take full responsibility for the choice they made and they’re leaving bags of shit around like the selfish dicks they fundamentally are.

In what other situation is it okay to leave your rubbish around temporarily?

WaxOnFeckOff · 17/04/2020 10:23

5zeds, The point is that I wouldn't be paying. Dog owners would, if theyd rather fund a bin and the emptying of it then they could do that. Or, just use what is provided or take it home.

boylovesmeerkats · 17/04/2020 10:24

It's gross, someone keeps putting bags in my neighbours skip which fall out or get knocked by foxes. Now how often are skips being collected do people think? There is probably going to be 3 months worth of dog shit in that skip. Ffs take it home.

LaurieMarlow · 17/04/2020 10:24

I guess if you had a bag of wrappers post picnic on the beach I’d be fine with you leaving it while you swam and taking it up to the bin in the car park at the end.

Would you be okay with people leaving the bag for around an hour, frequently ‘forgetting’ and never picking it up, running the risk of it dispersing and scattering, encouraging others (with no intention of picking it up) to dump their crap on the beach too?

If so, you have no consideration for your environment and for others.

But we knew that.

Macncheeseballs · 17/04/2020 10:28

If you're not willing to carry darling doggie's shit in a bag whilst you do walkies, dont own a dog. Dog owners really piss me off. I'd love to walk my kids to school (when they reopen) without doing the doggie do-do side step every day.

WaxOnFeckOff · 17/04/2020 10:28

I guess if you had a bag of wrappers post picnic on the beach I’d be fine with you leaving it while you swam and taking it up to the bin in the car park at the end.

Well, i'd probably pack my picnic stuff back into my backpack or picnic bag rather than leave it in a plastic bag on the beach or just drop it back to the car or bin before going for a swim.
