To use pasta bake sauce...

mamaAJ · 15/04/2020 19:46

That went out of date in December 2019?

It's Tuna Pasta Bake sauce in a jar, it doesn't contain any tuna it's basically creamy tomato sauce.

OP posts:
JontyDoggle37 · 15/04/2020 19:47

It will only say Best Before, not Use By - so you’re fine

Suzanne12 · 15/04/2020 19:47

Should be ok

AdalbertWaffling · 15/04/2020 19:48

I would! Those sauces are long-life, not 'fresh'. Open it, look at it, smell it, taste it. If all of the above seem fine, then it's fine!

AuditAngel · 15/04/2020 19:49

It’s “best before” not “kills you after”

SummerHouse · 15/04/2020 19:50

It's fine go for it.

Birdyfly · 15/04/2020 19:52

I used tinned tomatoes that had a best before of Sept 2019 and it was fine!

BeenHereForAges · 15/04/2020 19:52

Definately. But I'm eying up a macaroni cheese packet mix ive just found from 0ct 2018 Hmm

Howaboutanewname · 15/04/2020 19:56

I cleaned out my cupboard at the start of lockdown and have successfully used a lot of ‘best before’ items including some 3 year old cake mixes. All has been perfect.

Oysterbabe · 15/04/2020 19:58

It will definitely be fine.

Mummyoflittledragon · 15/04/2020 20:00

I’m jealous now. I want some....

Wallywobbles · 15/04/2020 20:08

Just used some 2015 rice wraps. All good.

Voxx · 15/04/2020 20:10

Yeah it’ll be fine. I used a spice mix that was best before August 2018 earlier in the week. We lived to tell the tale.

Samtsirch · 15/04/2020 20:14

Since lockdown we have used no end of out of date/ past their best before date tins and packets.
Wouldn’t serve them up to other people but my partner and I have been absolutely fine and they have all tasted great 😁

Thymelord · 15/04/2020 20:17

Yeah I wouldn't hesitate to use it.

123456abcd · 15/04/2020 20:19

I'm sure it'll be fine - more worried about the fact it's a 'tuna pasta bake' - love tuna, love pasta bake - just not in that combination Grin. Must admit to using way out of date tick/flea application on dog today......

AnnUumellemahaye · 15/04/2020 20:21

Absolutely, yes. If it’s in a properly sealed jar and the metal lid hasn’t blown it will be absolutely fine. You can usually tell by the colour change of anything in a jar or bottle if it’s gone past being useable.

amijustparanoidorjuststoned · 15/04/2020 20:21

@AuditAngel that cracked me up Grin

You'll be fine OP!

AnnUumellemahaye · 15/04/2020 20:23

I did a huge Coronavirus kitchen clear-out and reshuffle the other day. I came across a jar of chicken Bovril from 2011. 😁

PyongyangKipperbang · 15/04/2020 20:24

We are having Xmas pudding with brandy sauce that went out of date inJanuary!

DobbyTheHouseElk · 15/04/2020 20:24

How out of date is acceptable? 2017? I’ve got sweetcorn and tuna (not in the same tin) out of date

Destroyer · 15/04/2020 20:25

🤢

DramaAlpaca · 15/04/2020 20:25

Of course it'll be fine. I wouldn't hesitate.

Mustbethewine · 15/04/2020 20:27

It will be fine. Open it and it smells and looks ok then it's fine.

UntamedWisteria · 15/04/2020 20:27

It will be fine.

I will eat food with BB dates that are years out of date and nothing bad has ever happened to me.

The only things I'm careful with are fresh meat & fish.

WouldShouldCould · 15/04/2020 20:30

I'm another that is doing corona roulette, as far as I'm concerned bbf just means it may not taste as good. Have recently eaten bbf 2009 and load of bbf 2011. Also hace eaten frozen foods that say use by June... No year date so fuck knows when I froze it.
