That went out of date in December 2019?

It's Tuna Pasta Bake sauce in a jar, it doesn't contain any tuna it's basically creamy tomato sauce.

How out of date is acceptable

In my experience from trying things that have been lurking in the cupboards, 2019 cordial and 2016 custard powder is fine, 2011 and 2014 Christmas pudding not. Neither was the fruit cake that was, guessing, 5-7 years old.

Tins and packets a year or two out of date are almost always going to be fine although from pre-coronavirsus cupboard clearing, I can attest that suet that's 18 months out of date is rancid.

Anything processed and sealed will be fine. We too have had a good clearout of our kitchen cupboards and eaten lots of stuff that reckons t was BBE of not only months, but years ago, without any harm coming to anyone. No-one has noticed except the cook f they happened to look.
