Positive news at last Smile

I think this is amazing! Yes he's not out there shaking the collection tin but this fella has absolutely captured a lot of people's imaginations and has so far raised almost four million quid in the space of about three days.

He's walking laps of his garden in batches but he has more energy than me for heaven's sake!

He’s amazing what a lovely guy he is too, I keep refreshing his justgiving page to see where he’s at

JustStayHome · 16/04/2020 21:26

HarrySnotter · 17/04/2020 07:41

I'm obsessed by this - I'm checking his just giving page about 20 times a day. Grin

Just Giving need to pay the credit card charges but it’s also worth remembering they need to pay employees and they have put a lot into the development of their service. They also claim the gift aid in behalf of charities if they are registered to which all takes work. I work for a charity and their reporting side of things is far better than other sites enabling our accounting and record keeping to be far more efficient. Some UK charities do choose to pay the monthly £15 option to get access to the best reporting options, saves money in staff time.
They do offer the option for donors to pay extra to cover the fees.

RosesandIris · 17/04/2020 07:41

What will the money be spent on though and will it all go directly to the NHS?

Klonda · 17/04/2020 07:45

Simultaneously admirablenand depressing. It should never have come to this.

HarrySnotter · 17/04/2020 07:46

It'll go here @RosesandIris

www.nhscharitiestogether.co.uk/

It says so on his JG page.

RosesandIris · 17/04/2020 08:13

Makeitgoaway · 17/04/2020 10:13

Sport Relief etc must be embarrassed 😁

RosesandIris · 17/04/2020 12:23

He’s making so many people feel good and empowered. If one man who is 99 years old can do this, it gives hope to all of us. What an amazing legacy he’s leaving. His family must be so so proud.

Tattiebee · 17/04/2020 12:53

It seems JG are asking people to donate a bit towards their running costs when normally it is automatic, suggesting that they won't be taking a cut.

BikeRunSki · 17/04/2020 20:50

He’s just broken £20M!

Eh, what are you about? He's loved doing it, we've loved donating, the charity will love receiving - everyone's a winner

florenceandthemac · 12/11/2023 22:30

Amazed at how well his daughter has done from it 🫢
