To be annoyed about my neighbours complaining

About my children playing in the garden? And us playing music over the bank holiday weekend (not loud)? The children only play out when its nice weather so not that much, I’m happy they are outside and not stucknto ipads etc!

OP posts:

What’s the point of having a garden,If according to so many on here if you were in reasonable no matter how you use it

You can do what you want as long as you aren’t playing loud music.

Comprehension is really taking a battering on here today.

FurryDogMother · 14/04/2020 14:48

I've just come in from our field. Bloody neighbour up the way's cows are going nuts today - moo, blinking moo. Then the lambs opposite us started up - I mean, who wants to listen to them bleat all day? As for the birds - and the bees - it's non-stop.

I have never been more grateful that we live in the middle of nowhere, and really feel for those of you who have to live close to someone like the OP. I'm counting my blessings, and they are many!

Um ... what??

Mittens030869 · 14/04/2020 14:59

I agree with PPs that YANBU about the children; a household with children will never be completely quiet and during this lockdown children will be spending some time each day in the garden. But YABU about the music, that isn't fair on your neighbours.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 14/04/2020 15:01

What is this obsession with the need to put noise into everything? To inflict your noise on others regardless? And yes at the beach I don't want to have to listen to your choice of music. I don't want to have to listen to your music on the train, at midnight when I am trying to sleep, in the cinema when watching a film, when I go for a walk in the woods, in my garden when listening to the birds, in hospital or anywhere else. Playing music outside or in public is an incredibly selfish act.

Read and digest Aesop's words you music-offenders.

Every one of them is pure gold.

lalafafa · 14/04/2020 15:04

you sound utterly selfish playing music, do you have fires too?

I think you're THAT neighbour

FNuts · 14/04/2020 15:05

Oh my gosh, how dare my neighbours kids still be playing? And how dare the other neighbour playing some 80s ballads loud enough that when I step outside it's only just audible if the breeze is the right direction.

#sarcasm. I only put this because people really are the by fuckers and don't understand.

FNuts · 14/04/2020 15:05

The by - tetchy

AllesAusLiebe · 14/04/2020 15:06

I think you are my neighbour, op. I hope you're heeding the vast majority of comments if you are.

If you aren't my neighbour, I do hope she is reading this and learning something about how antisocial music in gardens actually is.

HarrySnotter · 14/04/2020 15:12

I think people understand people like you really well. 🤣

hesgotit · 14/04/2020 15:15

I think we got that, it was the bit where you said you lived in a detached street that I was seeking clarity on!

#sarcasm I put that to denote I'm being equally as sarcastic as you!

Mia1415 · 14/04/2020 15:19

Children - is fine.

Music - absolutely not!

Likethebattle · 14/04/2020 15:22

@FNuts you sound exactly like my previous neighbour. I got out the fucking flags when that cf left. They practically lived in the garden so all I ever heard was their choice of music, their idiotic grown up kids shouting and banging and then their choice of shot music. It was every day constantly. Now it’s a young couple who don’t annoy the fuck out of every other neighbour. Peace!!!!

LovePoppy · 14/04/2020 15:26

I guess I just don’t see the point in being upset how my neighbours use their garden

No do I like the idea of people policing how I’d use mine

LovePoppy · 14/04/2020 15:26

*nor
Damn it

izzywizzygood · 14/04/2020 15:29

I think your neighbours were brave to complain as so many people put up with this type of noise and don't say anything. The music is so selfish and inconsiderate - why ruin other people's personal space? Some people work hard all week and may want to relax.

hesgotit · 14/04/2020 15:29

@LovePoppy don't be ridiculous, everyone has a level of people using the garden that they think is acceptable!

So loud rave music in your neighbours garden from 8am to 10 pm would just not bother you?

You also would not expect your neighbour to politely ask you to turn the music down to a level only you can hear or wear headphones if you were the one doing that?

What sort of places do people like you live?

hesgotit · 14/04/2020 15:33

The children have had so much taken away from them, Im not going to stop them enjoying music in the garden! And if I want to play music there I will. Happy for our neighbours to do it too!!

@izzywizzygood the OP responded with the above, this means she can do it and not worry about anyone else and what they've had taken away! Selfish is an understatement!

CalishataFolkart · 14/04/2020 15:37

@FNuts
Additionally, I was in my garden this morning clearing old slabs into a skip we had delivered, and creating all sorts of noise from that. O had music on too,

If it's a little bit of music played but you can still have a conversation, that's fine.

Which was it? Music loud enough to hear over the noise of slabs dropping into a skip or a little bit that was quieter than normal speaking volume?

If you couldn’t hear it over the slabs, what was the point in having it on? It’s another layer of noise.

FNuts · 14/04/2020 15:42

@hesgotit

Detached street, as in the houses in the street are detached.

hesgotit · 14/04/2020 15:44

@FNuts so the houses are detached but the streets all in one piece? 😅

#sarcastic

FNuts · 14/04/2020 15:44

@CalishataFolkart

The music was on, loud enough to hear and talk over. The slab noise is a momentary bang, the duration of which lasted around 90 minutes.

Butterfly98 · 14/04/2020 15:47

@peppermintcapsules you cannot be SERIOUS with that post surely?! Do you really prefer him as a neighbour compared to a family? What about your children inhaling cannabis for starters? Or if they found a syringe he was using, that doesn't near thinking about...

Our junkie/stoner neighbour is the best we've had! He's so quiet. He sometimes plays acoustic guitar. Sometimes he passes out in his garden. Passed out people are nice and quiet. I smell the cannabis often, but it's a small price to pay for how considerate he is. Absolutely bliss! I'd take junkies any day over inconsiderate families.

FNuts · 14/04/2020 15:48
