AIBU to think that the people clapping are Tory and UKIP voters who thought running down public services and ethnic staff wouldn't hurt them, but somebody else?

........ and they've now realised that they're as much in the firing line as anyone else?

ClutterbuckFarm · 13/04/2020 12:24

YABU. We are all bored of these types of thread.

j712adrian · 13/04/2020 12:24

......as a variation on the above, they're also some of the same people who think and say "this is not a time for party politics?"

OP posts:
SentimentalKiller · 13/04/2020 12:24

They always think they are different
I have a friend who has a disability and lives off benefits (well needed benefits)
She is forever posting memes moaning about those on benefits and those crappy share if you have always worked, never claimed benefits crapConfused

sparepantsandtoothbrush · 13/04/2020 12:26

I'm not a Tory or Ukip voter. I'm also not virtue signalling as other posters keep accusing people of doing.

TheMagiciansMewTwo · 13/04/2020 12:28

Really ... you don't think anyone clapping actually does support the NHS? That they have voted consistently to support the NHS?

Although a percentage of them will be the very public 'Labour' people who consistently manipulated to bring Corbyn down and voted Tory to do so. I'm not seeing much retrospection from that quarter despite the recent leaked report.

SoupDragon · 13/04/2020 12:29

No.

SoupDragon · 13/04/2020 12:30

I do think you're being goady though.

TeensArghhhh · 13/04/2020 12:30

Staunch Labour constituency here. We all came out to clap for our dedicated, overworked, underpaid NHS staff. We will be singing for Wales tonight. Nobody in my village (I don’t know about other parts of Wales) clapped for children or Boris. What’s your point?

SueEllenMishke · 13/04/2020 12:31

Yeah this topic has been done to death.
Yawn.......
Your theory is is bollocks too

CendrillonSings · 13/04/2020 12:33

YABU. Quit the goady horseshit.

HandfulOfFlowers · 13/04/2020 12:36

Yawn... The people clapping are overwhelmingly ordinary people who want to thank NHS workers during a time of crisis. Nothing else.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 13/04/2020 12:39

I doubt they'd make the connection tbh.

PicsInRed · 13/04/2020 12:40

AIBU to think that if Labour has bothered to deal with misogyny, antisemitism and the core concerns of the working class, some of their core traditional voters might have voted for them?

Next time, do a better job and don't take voters for granted. Even women, Jewish people and the working class won't just show up for nothing. Worse than nothing - superior sneering.

You need to deliver. You didn't.

Shamoo · 13/04/2020 12:42

I clap on a Thursday. Never voted Tory or UKIP or any right wing party in my life. Most people clapping are just doing so to show appreciation for the NHS when right now there is nothing else they can do.

If you don’t like clapping, don’t clap.

MissHoskins · 13/04/2020 12:43

You're one goady fucker.

Makeitgoaway · 13/04/2020 12:43

Yes, my town has been overwhelmingly Tory at each of the last three elections. Our FB page is sooo proud of themselves for clapping once a week. I've restrained myself and only pointed out once that they love the NHS so much there've repeatedly voted to destroy it and certainly wouldn't vote to pay the tax required to run in properly.

Megan2018 · 13/04/2020 12:44

YABU
Conservative party member here and no clapping. Instead I am providing actual practical and emotional support to my family members and friends who are doctors and nurses (of which I have many, 3 nurses in the family and 4 nurses and 2 doctors amongst my close friends).
Bore off

GhostofFrankGrimes · 13/04/2020 12:45

Clearly governments need to be held to account, except when its a Tory government they get a free pass and everybody else is to blame. Austrity and the running down of public services has been happening for 10 years and was a clear ideological choice from a party obessed with the small state.

RufustheLanglovingreindeer · 13/04/2020 12:47

This is one of the stupidest comments made on corona threads

Impressively stupid really

ArriettyJones · 13/04/2020 12:47

Confused. Clapping what? The NHS?

Why would people be clapping the NHS because they are anti NHS and anti NHS workers? Why would Kippers clap the NHS to express xenophobia?

Have I missed another “clap”? Or are you sounding crazy? Confused Why does everyone keep saying crazy things?!

RufustheLanglovingreindeer · 13/04/2020 12:50

Poor arrietty Grin

Thewheelsarefallingoff · 13/04/2020 12:56

YANBU, but of course we are not allowed to utter it. We must passively respect others opinion and not ever hold them to account for them. - It is the British way, it is our wonderful democracy (as long as you don't talk about it or ask others to explain themselves).

foamrolling · 13/04/2020 12:56

Are you saying that the only people clapping are tories and kippers? Because that's ridiculous. I live in a Labour stronghold and plenty are clapping. If you're saying that some of the people clapping are tories and kippers then yes, obviously that's true. No political party has a single claim to it.

So you're either stating the obvious or being ridiculous. Which is it?

This is so boring - post in the coronavirus topic if you want to add yet another tedious thread. Did you seriously imagine you were the first person to post this?
