Couple doing the tango in finsbury park

I'm staying in. My family are staying in and elderly relatives really suffering with depression and loneliness but still following guidelines. I'm exercising by walking the dog early morning around the block. I.e streets close to my house. I don't need a park or a beach. I certainly dont need to dance the tango in finsbury park. AIBU to be disgusted in people and their clear disregard for others safety. I cant believe their behaviour.

If they live together what's the problem

Veterinari · 12/04/2020 20:48

How is half an hour's dancing any different to half an hour's jogging @Mydogatemypurse

Please explain the epidemiological differences in risk?

MouthBreathingRage · 12/04/2020 20:48

No but some people in the news were.

Daily exercise comes in many forms I guess.

The dancing doesn't bother me in terms of the quarantine. It's obvsly attention seeking though, and theres enough of that going on at the moment. Kids singing outside their houses, dance routines, a guy drumming naked in the street... it's like the shit school recital no one asked for.

Roussette · 12/04/2020 20:48

You sound so miserable.

What a lovely idea. I'm sure they live together and maybe are just trying to raise a smile. As far as I know smiling hasnt been banned yet.

KarmaStar · 12/04/2020 20:48

Everyone is suffering.
No need to add to the finger pointing unless you know for a fact they are not from the same household and are bumping into the public who are out for an hours fresh air.
Otherwise, find something positive to do or say op.
Count your blessings.😀🌷🌸🌹🌽🌼🌻🌺🌈🌞🌄🌅

OmgThereAreNoPlanesAboveMeNow · 12/04/2020 20:48

Op, can you please tell us what is acceptable exercise?

MereDintofPandiculation · 12/04/2020 20:49

Its just not my understanding of the minimum time spent outside neither the law not the guidance says anything about spending "the minimum time outside". It says stay in except for a number of reasons including exercise. I don't mind you making up new laws about the conditions of lockdown, but please do not try to apply them to other people.

Northernsoullover · 12/04/2020 20:50

I'm a huge stickler for 'the rules' and even I think YABU. I'd far rather that the joggers panting over me.

Shitsgettingcrazy · 12/04/2020 20:50

In fairness to the OP it was stated to go out and exercise, but not hobbies or recreational.

When was that stated?

So people who walk as a hobby, cant go for a walk. Joggers must stop. Cyclists can no longer cycle?

Most peoples exercise is also recreational. People are doing it to get out of the house and to be able to enjoy being out of their home.

TheWordmeister · 12/04/2020 20:50

I really can't be bothered to be bothered by this.

I assume they're a couple, keeping away from others. So what? It would have cheered me no end to see this.

cologne4711 · 12/04/2020 20:50

Dancing is fine and burns loads of calories. The contestants on Strictly always talk about how fit they get.

OmgThereAreNoPlanesAboveMeNow · 12/04/2020 20:52

Nhs recommends dance to keep healthy.

@Rousette

Sounds like it has been banned at OP's house!

They probably live together and are getting their exercise. I could dance my way up the street if I wanted to - not that I would subject anyone to that. It would make me smile if i saw a couple dancing like that.

JKScot4 · 12/04/2020 20:52

I’d think it’d be lovely to see that.
There’s no list of acceptable exercise, In beyond fed up with these shitty posts, outrage at a child kicking a ball, child on a bike, ppl seeing what they think is ‘suitable’ exercise.

Roussette · 12/04/2020 20:52

So if they both went out and jogged up and down on the spot, that would be OK?
But doing this which is much much nicer isn;t..... okaaaay.....

Let's try and get through this without turning into a load of miserable shrews

BeetrootRocks · 12/04/2020 20:53

Dancing is hard work.
The distinction between hobbies/ recreational and exercise is interesting.

Maybe we should all gather at a certain time stand at a safe distance and do state sanctioned exercise like those old videos of repressive regimes.

QuacksInTheDark · 12/04/2020 20:53

“It’s not a holiday” so make sure no one is smiling or having any sort of fun at all? How bloody dare they do something they enjoy whilst causing no harm to anyone else! Don’t they know they should be at home crying in to their Easter eggs!

MouthBreathingRage · 12/04/2020 20:53

Dance for fitness

I'm pretty sure they didnt say 'dance so you can get your face on the end bit of the 6pm news' though.

MrJollyLivesNextDoor · 12/04/2020 20:54

I saw a child on a scooter while I was out walking!

Perhaps someone from the Hitler Youth will report such a liberty.

SquashedSpring · 12/04/2020 20:54

You are exercising by walking outside, they are exercising by dancing outside. In what way is it more dangerous than what you are doing?

Thinkingabout1t · 12/04/2020 20:55

I'd love to see people dancing while i'm out. They're not in the least breaking the rules, presuming that they live together. Dancing is excellent exercise, it's fun for onlookers as well as for the dancers. i can't see a single thing against it.

AlexisCarringtonColbyDexter · 12/04/2020 20:55

If they live together I dont see the problem? exercise isn't JUST running or cycling. Dancing is a fantastic exercise. They arent putting people at MORE risk by dancing instead of jogging. Good for them!

JeSuisTresEcule · 12/04/2020 20:56

Is there a video?.I love the tango.

BlackAndWhiteCat01 · 12/04/2020 20:56

When was that stated?

When I find it, I’ll post... but I can’t see it now so I’ll shut up Grin

GlendaSugarbeanIsJudgingYou · 12/04/2020 20:57

Have you ever danced the Tango?

It's a marvelous way to exercise. Works all sorts of muscles and get's your heart pumping.

Why shouldn't they dance?
