Couple doing the tango in finsbury park

I'm staying in. My family are staying in and elderly relatives really suffering with depression and loneliness but still following guidelines. I'm exercising by walking the dog early morning around the block. I.e streets close to my house. I don't need a park or a beach. I certainly dont need to dance the tango in finsbury park. AIBU to be disgusted in people and their clear disregard for others safety. I cant believe their behaviour.

Genuinely thought this was about a couple getting caught shagging in the park thinking they'd not get caught due to everyone on lockdown. I'm... disappointed.

springydaff · 12/04/2020 20:40

Blimey, you're cheery ain't ya op Hmm

I would have LOVED to see this 💃👯‍♀️

Toilenstripes · 12/04/2020 20:40

They wanted attention, maybe thought they could lighten the mood....who knows why. Not sure it’s hurting anyone.

springydaff · 12/04/2020 20:40

Where did that woman symbol come from? I didn't put it there

Lovecat · 12/04/2020 20:40

God forbid anyone should do anything enjoyable or life-enhancing while on lockdown.Hmm

OmgThereAreNoPlanesAboveMeNow · 12/04/2020 20:41

If they sat there with picnic/bbq/drinking. Heck yeah. You wouldn't be unreasonable to moan. But they exercise. And they have same right to exercise like others. Even if it is not a proper exercise in your mind

Mydogatemypurse · 12/04/2020 20:41

No but some people in the news were. 🤣

They could be professional dancers who are no longer able to work or train, and who are desperate to do the only thing that keeps them sane.

And they're not even breaking any guidelines. I've no issue with this. It's social distancing, not the Spanish fucking inquisition.

Fluffiest · 12/04/2020 20:42

From the oldest of times, people danced for a number of reasons. They danced in prayer or so that their crops would be plentiful or so their hunt would be good. And they danced to stay physically fit and show their community spirit. And they danced to celebrate. And that, that is the dancing that we’re talking about. Aren’t we told in Psalm 149: ‘Praise ye the Lord. Sing unto the Lord a new song. Let them praise His name in the dance’?…It was King David. King David, who we read about in Samuel, and, and what did David do? What did David do? What did David do? ‘David danced before the Lord with all his might, leaping, leaping and dancing before the Lord.’ Leaping and dancing! Ecclesiastes assures us that there is a time to every purpose under heaven. A time to laugh and a time to weep. A time to mourn and there is a time to dance. And there was a time for this law, but not anymore. See, this is our time to dance. It is our way of, of celebrating life. It’s the way it was in the beginning. It’s the way it’s always been. It’s the way it should be now.

EveryFlightBeginsWithAFall · 12/04/2020 20:42

I cant get all upset about that. Was probably quite nice for other people on their daily walk to see

SquashedSpring · 12/04/2020 20:42

OP are you annoyed because you think they're breaking the rules or for some other reason?

LittleLittleLittle · 12/04/2020 20:42

OP there are people doing HITT training and pilates in the park. They are left alone by the police and park rangers as they are moving.

These people are clearly amateur dancers and just want more space to exercise in now dance studios are closed.

Shitsgettingcrazy · 12/04/2020 20:43

Why cant they walk round the block for their exercise. If their house is too small to dance they should do another dance or a you tube exercise.

Or they can dance.

Why is a walk around a park acceptable? If this isnt. How is the risk of spreading it any different?

iano · 12/04/2020 20:43

Seeing this would have made me smile. It's nice to see people doing stuff that makes them happy. I can't see what's wrong with it. Stop being grumpy op.

Jillyhilly · 12/04/2020 20:43

What on Earth is wrong with this?

Mydogatemypurse · 12/04/2020 20:44

Its just not my understanding of the minimum time spent outside necessary to protect ourselves and others.

ChewChewIsMySpiritAnimal · 12/04/2020 20:44

Nawww someone else on Mumsnet making up their own isolation rules Smile

Where does it say that walking is the only approved form of outdoor exercise?

drspouse · 12/04/2020 20:45

if people are out doing stuff thats unnecessary they could be carriers.
Exercise is necessary.

Emeeno1 · 12/04/2020 20:46

Maybe they wanted to give something to others? Lifting our spirits is important right now. Good on them.

QuacksInTheDark · 12/04/2020 20:46

You sound very bitter. What are they actually doing wrong other than making you jealously spout your bile on here?

BeetrootRocks · 12/04/2020 20:46

Really don't understand the problem.
They are exercising in a large open space as per guidelines.

I would be immensely cheered up if I saw this on our daily walk!

angelikacpickles · 12/04/2020 20:46

@Mydogatemypurse

Why on earth do they have to walk around the block? What's wrong with what they are doing? YABVU.

Mydogatemypurse · 12/04/2020 20:46

For information I dont hate dancers ha. I just dont think it's my understanding of the the minimum exercise.

OP posts:
BlackAndWhiteCat01 · 12/04/2020 20:46

In fairness to the OP it was stated to go out and exercise, but not hobbies or recreational.

Shitsgettingcrazy · 12/04/2020 20:47

Its just not my understanding of the minimum time spent outside necessary to protect ourselves and others.

An hours dancing or an hour walking?

If one is fine under the new rules, why is the other not?

No one is obliged to stick your interpretation of the rules.
