I've seen loads of posts about not buying anything online etc...and I would feel bad as postal services etc are put in danger, strain etc..But my 13 year old sons feet have grown suddenly and fast , he only had one pair of shoes out of school and they dont fit him at all, dh too small for him too!! Will I be frowned upon by the local postman if I order some online? He obviously needs shoes, for in the garden and we would like to go for a daily walk.

JD sports are delivering but it's much slower than normal. ASOS came within 3 days ( normally next day). Someone needs to tell these boys to stop growing during lockdown! I've got 2 teens/preteen boys and they've decided to grow like sprouts in the last month Grin

Chillicheese123 · 11/04/2020 10:38

People talk some shite on here Jesus Christ 😂😂

2020changedtheworld · 11/04/2020 10:40

We sadly don't have a lot of grass

We sadly are not psychic, I dont care if I spelt that wrong as -

I've bloody read some total shite on here since we've been in lockdown but hurray, you win!!

I have won the Covid 19 competition of 2020 Im proud StarHalo

ShowOfHands · 11/04/2020 10:40

@StrongMama1989 what if they're too small? You'd need to return them. Money is really fricking short for a lot of people and they can't chuck away money on shoes they can't wear.

velocitygirl7 · 11/04/2020 10:41

@2020changedtheworld
Sadly, on reflection, the bare foot running suggestion wins.
So you lose. Enjoy your twirling.

StrongMama1989 · 11/04/2020 10:43

I am SO CONFUSED! How much are these trainers that you are worried about returning them??

velocitygirl7 · 11/04/2020 10:44

@ShowOfHands but this is Mumsnet!! Ffs don't you know that if you have the audacity to buy actual shoes for your dc and not make them a pair with some shite from the garden and your own bloody hair, you definitely aren't allowed to return a pair that don't fit!!

ShowOfHands · 11/04/2020 10:44

@2020changedtheworld you might not be psychic but I'm sure you have an imagination. Why somebody might need shoes and not flip flops off the top of my head...

It isn't warm where they are
They have sensory issues
They have eds/hypermobility
They run
They cycle
They garden
It's raining
Flip flops are fricking uncomfortable for some of us
They're children of keyworkers and still at school

Honestly, I can do 20 more without even blinking...

2020changedtheworld · 11/04/2020 10:45

Thanks I might hula hoop
at the same time Grin

velocitygirl7 · 11/04/2020 10:46

@StrongMama1989 oh my f**king god. They could be 50p and it might matter to some people.
Get real. I work with families struggling with literally no money for food. You are coming across as smug and with very little grasp on what reality is for so many.

vanillandhoney · 11/04/2020 10:47

There is really very little need for shoes right now!

Christ, if you went out barefoot around here you'd cut your feet within minutes. The roads and pavements are poorly cared for and there's often broken glass and nails and bits in the street.

We don't all live in some middle class haven full of perfectly level and clean concrete paths Grin

StrongMama1989 · 11/04/2020 10:48

@ShowOfHands I still don’t understand. I am on benefits at the moment and I am a mum to twins and a full time carer to my partner and money is literally tight but I can still order some shoes for my kids and not worry about having to return them?

ShowOfHands · 11/04/2020 10:48

@velocitygirl7 😂 well I do knit my children's shoes from organic artisanal mung beans but I'm assuming some Waitroses are running short.

@StrongMama1989 I work with people who right now have run out of basic food and have lost all income and won't make their rent this month. If you can't imagine that sometimes somebody's life situation means that every pound is vital then there's no point me trying to explain it to you.

Chillicheese123 · 11/04/2020 10:48

OP if you want a JD, footasylum or Vans discount code message me. I have friends working at JD Hq also and they’re pretty happy with the arrangements so might be a better option than a more sweatshop type place.

velocitygirl7 · 11/04/2020 10:49

@2020changedtheworld
Enjoy! But maybe opt for the bare foot 'shoes' rather than flip flops Wink

PotholeParadise · 11/04/2020 10:50

I think flip flops from the supermarket is the better idea. Maybe use this as a good moment to experience bare foot running as well? There is really very little need for shoes right now!

I am never, ever doing barefoot running outdoors. Ever.

Also I have plenty of need for shoes, thanks.

BurneyFanny · 11/04/2020 10:51

I must say I'm agog to find out what irreparable foot issues would be caused by a few weeks of flipflips.

Sheslikethewind007 · 11/04/2020 10:51

StrongMama
I would need to return them, I've lost my income from 2 jobs that I had. Not everyone can buy things and keep them even if they dont fit, because then I'd have to buy a second pair that I really can't afford!! Maybe I shouldn't have posted. But thank you to the people who have been kind

OP posts:
velocitygirl7 · 11/04/2020 10:54

@Sheslikethewind007 absolutely no need to apologise! There are plenty of people on this thread that should be hanging their heads but it's not you!
Like you, my rapidly growing ds needed shoes, so I purchased some online, as I am freely allowed to.
Hope you've spotted the offer of the discount codes below?

TheFormidableMrsC · 11/04/2020 10:54

For goodness sake, if you need stuff then get it. My 9 year old has grown massively since last year. I'm sorry but I'm not squeezing him into clothes or shoes. I've ordered summer stuff from H&M, where I buy most of his stuff and know that I won't need to return. I've also ordered some bits for myself. Parcels have been left at door with no interaction. Businesses do need to keep running where they can. I most certainly would consider shoes for a growing child to be a necessity.

Sheslikethewind007 · 11/04/2020 10:55

Flip flops def not going to work. We in a small country village so walks involve stones, horse dung and the rest!

GreenTulips · 11/04/2020 10:55

What? You should be growing your own!

Sheslikethewind007 · 11/04/2020 10:56

Thank you everyone! I will go ahead and buy some shoes! Thank you:-)

vanillandhoney · 11/04/2020 10:59

Ignore all the negativity OP.

People are bored and have nothing better to do than have a go at strangers on the internet - it makes them feel superior for some reason!

ShowOfHands · 11/04/2020 11:01

I can't grow my own mung beans, I'm too busy weaving muesli into serapes for disadvantaged children of hedge fund managers.
