The word ‘journey’

Bienentrinkwasser · 10/04/2020 08:14

‘Weaning journey’
‘Breastfeeding journey’
‘Potty training journey’

Omg I’m so sick of the word journey being used like this. It gives me uncontrollable rage.

OP posts:
msmith501 · 10/04/2020 09:27

Define "uncontrollable rage"... that doesn't sound like a good journey to be on.

Mlou32 · 10/04/2020 09:29

Same. It's just more hippy dippy, airy fairy terminology that we need to endure.

trappedsincesundaymorn · 10/04/2020 09:30

I had an e-mail from work yesterday containing the words

"The last 3 weeks have been an emotional journey for all of us, but , going forward, I know, as a company, we shall get through this together"

That e-mail is going into room 101, never to see the light of day again.

x2boys · 10/04/2020 09:31

I don't find it as annoying as Transition tbh ,everyone transitions these days kids don't moved from primary school to high school they transition ,and it's always a,transition period ,they are buzz words there will be new ones .

x2boys · 10/04/2020 09:33

But at least they " reached out" with that email trapped?

SignGrudgeBluebook · 10/04/2020 09:33

No one can say the word spiral without adding 'out of control' or the word halt without prefixing it with 'grind to a' . The language used day to day is so tabloid now and it's like no-one can think for themselves any more.

SoupDragon · 10/04/2020 09:40

it's like no-one can think for themselves any more

How?

queenMab99 · 10/04/2020 09:43

Sounds calmer than 'battle' or 'struggle' which is what most people are experiencing!Grin

TimeForDinnerDinnerDinner · 10/04/2020 09:46

OP congratulations. You get my first ever Biscuit

Heygirlheyboy · 10/04/2020 09:48

Yes I agree, it's up there with 'reach out' instead of get in touch/contact. Ugh.

blubberball · 10/04/2020 09:54

It's all been such an incredible journey!

*fans my tear streaked face with my hands.

WhateverHappenedToBathPearls · 10/04/2020 09:56

I got offered a 'blended learning journey' at work Confused

For me it's still not as bad as 'living your best life' though

trappedsincesundaymorn · 10/04/2020 09:57

But at least they " reached out" with that email trapped

"having taken on board all possible outcomes"....it got deleted

Spaceprincess · 10/04/2020 10:53

@08:25Dennis269 I'm listening to early Dylan, but feel it should be...
Journey

louderthan1 · 10/04/2020 11:02

I hear a lot of bullshit about 'the customer journey' and 'the visitor journey' in my job

What is a metaphor?

FiveGoMadInDorset · 21/07/2021 20:05

DC's head teacher used that word in a phone call today and the apologised profusely for it 😂

HeronLanyon · 21/07/2021 20:14

I agree fully op.
I noticed ot come in during late 90s social work reports (I’m a lawyer). A little later than the introduction of ‘around’ instead of ‘about’. (Eg ‘we had a discussion around his drug misuse’ ffs it is ‘about’ - heard judges grumbling about the misuse but it has pretty much stuck).

newnortherner111 · 21/07/2021 20:23

I agree OP an overused word. There are others which I think are used too much- 'big', 'literally', for example.

HeartIess · 21/07/2021 20:28

I’m on an obesity journey, possibly in the lockdown express

Got on at Higher buttcheeks and have just arrived at SwearyTits Central

Bathsandnaps · 21/07/2021 20:35

It's irritating. Not quite rage inducing

I make an exception for 'customer journey' however.

Cloudninenine · 21/07/2021 20:37

@SoupDragon

You need to go on an inner calm journey.
Grin
MereDintofPandiculation · 21/07/2021 20:38

@MotherOfAllNameChanges

Apolz those of you who get the rage from hearing the word totes 😂
“totes is not half as bad as “apolz” . With a “z”.
OhNoNoNoNoNo · 21/07/2021 20:49

YANBU. It’s annoying. Especially when mentioned in relation to illness. 🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮
