Disgusting behavior in swimming pool changing rooms!

Returned to the U.K. a few months ago and took the kids swimming to an indoor water park with a ‘changing village’.

The facilities were not sex separated and everyone goes into cubicles to change. And that is when things got nasty.

Instead of having a decent shower and getting clean before entering the pool people just stood under a shower IN THEIR SWIMWEAR for a few seconds. No attempt made to wash sweaty bum cracks or armpits. Most women did not even bother to wet their hair!

How horrible to swim in a soup of shit, smeg, sweat, hairspray and toe-jam. This also meant the amount of chlorine in the water was insane, burned my eyes and I nearly crashed the car on the way home!

Who thinks this is a good way to do things???

@Mummyoflittledragon I thought it would be something inappropriate like that too from the title 😂

eddiemairswife · 08/04/2020 15:12

Swimming in the 1950s; no showers, a foot bath to walk through to get to the pool, lots of chlorine, and water so cold that no respectable germ could survive.

banivani · 08/04/2020 15:12

Why would you shower before getting into the pool if you're not washing yourself properly? What does getting a bit wet do for you? Genuine question.

Here in Scandinavia the dirty feckers people who don't wash properly get wet because then it's not obvious they haven't washed when they leave the changing room for the pool area. They know they should and don't want to be caught out.

Sounds normal to me. Are most people encrusted with shit etc unless they've showered in the last 30 seconds? If this applies to you, try wiping your arse after toileting. It will change your life.

EvilPea · 08/04/2020 15:15

Naked bum crack rinse in front of strangers

Are you kidding me?

bluebeck · 08/04/2020 15:20

OP - I may have missed a bit. Are you saying that you are used to showering naked in front of randomers? Male and female?

Gingerkittykat · 08/04/2020 15:21

Who are all of these people who shower at home before going to the pool?

I like it because I pull my clothes off then drop DD off, and then swim and use the health suite. I use the amazing shower in the health suite to have a proper wash.

Most people ignore the shower before going in the pool.

A kid puked in the pool once when I was there and I have never seen lifeguards run before but they scooped it up and emptied the pool and closed it for 24 hours. I've seen a few 24-hour closures of the kids pool on their website so assume they close every time it is contaminated like that.

I have also twice seen men lather up their bits under their trunks in the communal showers, dirty bastards.

RedRedScab · 08/04/2020 15:30

I don't ever want to see someone washing their bum crack in front of me. Happy that everyone keeps their swimmers on.

Biscuit
Lolwhat · 08/04/2020 15:34

It’s standard

Summer2003 · 08/04/2020 15:34

Probably better to be more concerned about trolley handles right now OP

Yes this is normal for UK & why only a minority of people actually use public pools!

OpenWheelRace · 08/04/2020 15:39

I'd be more disgusted with people stripping off in the communal shower and scrubbing away at their bits in public

IcedPurple · 08/04/2020 15:53

No it is not.

If people don't use pools, it's not because fellow swimmers aren't scrubbing their bum cracks prior to diving in, unlike all those wonderfully hygienic folk in their chemical-free pools 'abroad'.

Newjez · 08/04/2020 16:18

I remember being in a pool in Australia when a medium sized turd floated by. I informed the lifeguard, and he fished it out with a net. Then invited people back in. I asked is that it? Don't you cycle the water? Nah he said. Chlorine will kill anything. I left.

BigChocFrenzy · 08/04/2020 16:19

"I'd be more disgusted with people stripping off in the communal shower and scrubbing away at their bits in public"
Confused
It's always been my normal in UK gyms
(I swim once every 10 years !)
because I'm a stingy fucker who won't pay for a posher gym with cubicles

MrsKoala · 08/04/2020 16:21

Who are all of these people who shower at home before going to the pool?

Well I don't shower specifically because we are going but I just shower because that's what I do before I go out on a Sat/Sun morning. So I would shower regardless.

I find the lack of a female shower area irritating because after a swim i'd like o have a decent shower and hair wash.

I remember once swimming at Chiswick pool and there was a shower area poolside and a man dropped his swimmers and lathered up his bits. The life guard went over and told him off and he looked surprised. That's the only time I've seen anyone do that here.

PrincessPain · 08/04/2020 17:00

My local pool just has 8 showers and a drain 3 foot away from the pool, facing the pool with no enclosure or anything.
Its not enough showers for the amount of people using the pool, and I think if anyone dared get their genitals out they'd be kicked out and banned.

FudgeBrownie2019 · 08/04/2020 17:02

You'd have been a lot more likely to crash your car after the sight of me and my naked growler to be honest.

YABU. Massively.

bananaberry2020 · 08/04/2020 17:02

Never even seen anyone have a shower before the pool. Is this actually a done thing? Why would you be that disgusting before the pool? It's a swim, not a bath.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 08/04/2020 17:03

This thread Grin and no to communal mixed sex naked showering, thanks!

Yesterdayforgotten · 08/04/2020 17:04

How do you know people haven't showered before getting there op?

Yesterdayforgotten · 08/04/2020 17:05

Maybe people actually hower daily and arent relying on the swimming pool for their annual wash op🤢

Yesterdayforgotten · 08/04/2020 17:06

Or shower!

Northernsoullover · 08/04/2020 17:08

This has brightened up my day this thread. So OP if I go to Sweden do I have to get nekkid and wash my nethers ? If so I'd rather not swim. I do shower before leaving the house before I swim so the bum crack would have had a polish prior to swimming.
