What do you wish you'd done before lockdown kicked in?

  1. taken my dog to the groomer - he's like a walking cloud Grin
  1. bought more Primark 'cosy leggings' for my youngest. She has a few sensory issues with clothing, and lives in these. Typically, they've gone all holey since lockdown, and I'm not sure sewing that fabric would work.

What about you?

Had my baby

BelfastNonBlonde · 08/04/2020 07:36

A lot of the things people are saying about you can still order online. I’ve ordered in a bunch of stuff for home projects. DIY etc. Amazon is ok but stock and prices aren’t great.
Will be looking to local diy places / garden centres for delivery or click and collect next.

BelfastNonBlonde · 08/04/2020 07:40

It’s shite like, isn’t it..

Jaichangecentfoisdenom · 08/04/2020 07:41

Got on the plane to travel thousands of miles to see my daughter. (I hate flying and long journeys.) It's my birthday today and she was due to be here now. Haven't seen her for 4 months. Want to give her a huge hug.

MinorArcana · 08/04/2020 07:43

I wish we’d got the garden sorted out while the tip was still open.

Got the DC’s and DH’s hair trimmed.

Bought a new laptop.

Defrosted the freezer.

Organised my dental check up.

On the bright side, the DC did have their check-ups at the dentist about a fortnight before the schools closed.

Queenest · 08/04/2020 08:02

Happy birthday Jai Flowers

nagynolonger · 08/04/2020 08:09

Tip runs to clear the garden rubbish.

Bought paracetamol.

Got compost and top soil. We have that now thanks to delivery from local garden centre. We will use them now not B & Q.

Sorted the freezer and distributed quantities of frozen blackberries and raspberries to the family. I have now made enough jam to distribute. We are going to use freezer space more usefully.

Got chickens so we could have eggs.

Stocked up on wine.

Made sure all the family had portals.

Visited my 95 year old aunt. I can't speak on the phone. She is very deaf and can't cope with her hearing aid. Spoke to my cousins and bless her she doesn't worry about dying but is scared people won't be kind if she goes to hospital.

Cuddled my grandchildren. especially the new born. At least he and the toddlers seem unfazed by it all. The older DGC are missing us and their cousins and friends.

LynetteScavo · 08/04/2020 08:29

Opticians and dentists.

And less importantly had by eyebrows threaded.

clareOclareO · 08/04/2020 08:32
  1. Bought a shit load of hand sanitiser.
  2. Bought a shit load of macaroni.
  3. Bought a shit load of toilet paper.
  4. Bought a shit load of tissues.
  5. Bought a bloody desk and office chair instead of spending the next few months coping with a dining chair and table.
  6. Bought a shit load of alcoholic beverages. (This list isn't necessarily in order of urgency!)
Ughmaybenot · 08/04/2020 08:34

Been to the hairdresser, my ends are appalling, and while I’ve cut it myself and it looks fine, I really would’ve rather the hairdresser did it!
Sent DH to the hairdresser, he’s looking half man half bear right now
Sent the dog to the groomer (seeing a pattern here?) as he is no longer a cockapoo but a smelly bear 😂

Alaimo · 08/04/2020 08:37

Got a haircut.

Bought tools to sort out the garden. B&Q still sell what we need, but at twice the price of our local Screwfix (a total price difference of £2-300...).

orangejuicer · 08/04/2020 08:40

Visited my mum's grave. It's the third anniversary of her death on the 18th and the cemetery has been closed because people were taking their kids there to exercise.

Knobblybobbly · 08/04/2020 08:40

Got the puppy we had reserved that was waiting for it’s second injection. The breeder would no way let us before the second jan but I just so wish we had her here now. God knows how old she’ll be by the time we can have her, and what bonding will be like then.

Natsku · 08/04/2020 08:45

Got mine and DS's hair cut. Made a will and whatever paperwork needed to ensure DD can stay with OH (he's not her dad) if I should die. Married OH so that if he dies I'd be entitled to a widow pension and his retirement fund.

yearinyearout · 08/04/2020 08:47

Bought garden furniture and some stuff to do up the garden.

Andante57 · 08/04/2020 08:49

Had a haircut. I look like Mary Beard

showmewhatyougot · 08/04/2020 08:50

Same as most people, haircuts, brought house/fence paint. Stocked up on baking goods.

Maybe brought more garden toys for the kids, we were thinking of buying a new play jungle gym house things, but decided to wait, totally regretting it now.

TattiePants · 08/04/2020 08:53

Ordered more printer cartridges. We’ve got them now but they ran out on day one of home schooling and took 10 days for new ones to arrive.

Bought more fence paint.

Went to the tip. I have about 8 wooden pallets and various other bits of crap stacked up in my smallish garden.

Visited the dentist as I’m worried there’s the beginning of a hole in one of my teeth.

RiftGibbon · 08/04/2020 08:53

Bought some paint and craft stuff
Setting up a regular shopping delivery slot.
However, we were supposed to be going away, so we weren't planning on needing anything.

TattiePants · 08/04/2020 08:54

Oh and bought lots of wood for shelves. B&Q will deliver but with a minimum £100 spend - I don’t need that many shelves!

Xenia · 08/04/2020 08:55

For those talking about making wills you still can - contact a solicitor.

Lookingforwardtomyeastereggs · 08/04/2020 08:56

Had our garden done.

Missing out massively on using the garden as it's a right mess.

Dieu · 08/04/2020 08:56

@orangejuicer

You must be joking?!
What fucking idiots.

@Knobblybobbly

I'm not saying it's ideal, but at least you'll be able to socialise your pup with other dogs after lockdown. An impossible task right now. Thanks

Got married. We didn’t want a big wedding but had planned to go off somewhere and get married before the end of my mat leave but hadn’t quite got round to arranging it yet, then when it looked like everything was getting a bit unpredictable we started looking into just going to the registry office and getting the legalities sorted but now can’t even do that. The house is in my name and my other half is going to be stay at home dad when I go back to work (to look after patients with covid unless things have settled down by then...) so, completely unromantically, it’s to ensure he and the babies are sorted if anything happens to me!

StCharlotte · 08/04/2020 08:59

Egghead68 and others who were concerned about wills.

You can still get your wills done. "Solicitors involved in the execution of wills" are key workers believe it or not. Some rules have been relaxed so you can have a telephone consultation for example. Our firm has never been so busy with wills Confused

I signed mine yesterday and next door neighbours witnessed from a safe distance over the fence!

I wish we'd been more bossy and insisted that 88 year old MIL got online or at least got her to have a smartphone. But she's so proud of her independence. She's regretting it now and we're trying to think of a workaround (possibly involving a dongle). She has used computers and the internet in her voluntary job so if we could just work out the logistics...
