I’m working from home mostly right now... bras have been very much abandoned for the time being Grin

BubblyWater · 08/04/2020 12:07

The cup isn’t a size on its own, it’s only how many inches bigger than the band it is (so a 32D and a 36D aren’t the same cup on different sized bands)

This is completely mind blowing. Always assumed the cup was a size in itself ie the size of your books.

Insideimsprinting · 08/04/2020 12:08

Always been a AAACup, never worn a bra, even when sized properly at marksies the beas just rose up over my nipple. I'm the proper fried egg type. My only gripe is when those who can fill a bra complain I would just live to wear one.

PennyNotSoWise · 08/04/2020 12:25

@BuffaloCauliflower

This thread is a revelation, I had no idea. I always believed the cup size was a measurement of it's own.

Dress size is 8-10 and I wear a 32B bra. I'd never have thought I'd have to get a bigger cup.

BuffaloCauliflower · 08/04/2020 12:28

@PennyNotSoWise you’re almost definitely wearing too big a band then, unless you’re very tall. I’m a size 12 and wear a 30 or 32 band depending on the bra. 28/30 is more likely to be right. Have you got a soft measuring tape? If so grab it and measure by this calculator.

BuffaloCauliflower · 08/04/2020 12:29

@Insideimsprinting Marks are one of the worse places to get measured, they add 4 inches to the band which hasn’t been correct measuring for decades. Please give the boob or bust calculator I linked above a go

cheezy · 08/04/2020 12:43

I’m still confused and wonder whether I measured wrong (will check) because the F cup bras I’ve seen have been enourmous! Or is ff different to F?

PennyNotSoWise · 08/04/2020 12:44

Thanks so much Buffalo, I do have a tape, I'll get onto it.

I've been wearing the wrong size for 10 years Blush 🤦‍♀️

rhowton · 08/04/2020 12:51

M&S is still my go too! I use to be a 38F and had a breast reduction earlier this year. I am now a 34/6C and I still prefer to use M&S. Bras are good quality and not slutty (I don't use this as a criticism, I get my slutty bras from Ann Summers).

StatisticallyChallenged · 08/04/2020 13:03

Cheezy you've quite possibly never seen a 28FF - they're not huge in the cup at all. Cup size is relative to back size, so a 28F is much smaller than a 38f.

X1402 · 08/04/2020 13:04

I have always had tiny tits A/B cup but since breastfeeding for a year there like empty pg tips , so depressing. The only time I liked them was when my milk came in after birth 😂 I took photos so I could always remember them they looked how I’d always wanted them too...rip boobs 😭

StatisticallyChallenged · 08/04/2020 13:05

This image helps. These are all D cups

To ask you if you have tiny tits...
thenorthernluce · 08/04/2020 13:20

Same situation here. I now wear Gap plunge sports bras. They’re padded so provide shape, but sort of mould to my shape so they look good and I’m super comfortable. The plunge is important for me in terms of clothing and cleavage, if that makes sense? Means I can still wear v-necks and still look good.

BuffaloCauliflower · 08/04/2020 13:37

@cheezy a 28FF is a whole different thing to a 36FF for example. I’m a 32FF generally and my boobs are really not big. A FF just means your overbust measurement is 8 inches bigger than your underbust, each boob sticks out 4 inches. Really not that much when you think about it!

@rhowton liking M&S bras is fine to wear, but they measure incorrectly. If they’ve fit you there it’s very very likely you’re wearing the wrong size. A breast reduction wouldn’t make your rib cage smaller, so no reason you’d go from a 38 band to a 34 band, it’s your cup that would go down. This indicates really strongly that you’ve been measured wrong. Do give the Boob or Bust calculator a go.

Marshmallow91 · 08/04/2020 17:02

Mines are an e cup. After pregnancy they look like spaniels ears Blush

ohlookitsbetty · 08/04/2020 17:07

Mine a a AA cup, though I can rarely get hold of that size. So I wear 32A but that is a little big on the cup. I literally have barely anything there. It sucks. Sad

Even after two pregnancies in 11 months they never grew.

BuffaloCauliflower · 08/04/2020 18:37

@ohlookitsbetty an AA would be literally nothing. Flat like a child. Is that actually the case for you? What dress size are you?

ohlookitsbetty · 08/04/2020 18:47

@BuffaloCauliflower Yup. I am unfortunately. Size 4/6 on top. I don't feel like a woman at all.

BuffaloCauliflower · 08/04/2020 18:54

@ohlookitsbetty it sounds like you’re just a small person, which is fine! But no chance in hell you’re a 32 anything at a size 4-6, I’m a 32 band and I’m a chubby size 12. It’s physically impossible for you to be a 32 at that size, unless you’re about 6”4? I’d definitely give the boob or bust calculator a go, have you got a soft measuring tape?

Jaja92 · 08/04/2020 18:54

I haven't had children yet but mine were so small I was almost convinced they were inverted - haha! I ended up getting a breast augmentation and it was the best 5K I'd ever spent! Did wonders for my confidence

Bluewavescrashing · 08/04/2020 19:00

I had implants 12 years ago and I have never regretted it. Went from 34 AA - 34 D. No pain. Tiny scars. They didn't change at all during pregnancy. I was very upset not to be able to breastfeed for long due to insufficient breast tissue but my DCs both had colostrum for 5 days each. My boobs still look fab, perky and full. No need for a bra which is a bonus.

Spam88 · 08/04/2020 19:32

I always thought it was silly that threads like these always descend into everyone telling you to do your Boob or Bust measurement - until I did mine. Do it!

I was wearing a 34AA. BoB recommended a 28F (I think) but after a bit of trial and error I've settled on a 30DD. The tips on the website for how to tell if a bra fits right are really useful as well.

Another vote for the Wonderbra Refined Glamour.

Jellybean27 · 08/04/2020 19:40

🙄 @NoMorePoliticsPlease

I’m not worried, I’d kinda just like a bra that fits properly. Coronavirus or not, I’ve got breasts that need comfortable housing.

Thanks loads for the recommendations and revelations ladies!
