Just that do you in a couple go to bed at the same time?

OP posts:
AnneLovesGilbert · 07/04/2020 21:01

Nearly always.

HoffiCoffi13 · 07/04/2020 21:01

Yeah, 9/10. We like to chat for a bit in bed, and with three young DC it’s also the only chance we get to have sex. I go to sleep earlier though... DH watches crap on his phone with his earphones in for about half an hour after I go to sleep.

Omashu · 07/04/2020 21:01

No Sad my OH always wants to stay up later than me (and I normally go to bed at 12-1 since lockdown) and he comes to bed at the same time as me once, maybe twice a month. Most of the time he doesn’t even make it to bed and just falls asleep on the couch! It really upsets me to be honest.

peajotter · 07/04/2020 21:02

No. And it’s a big source of tension. I’m tired pretty soon after the kids go to bed, and he is just waking up and wanting to talk. I can manage 10:30 at the latest. I wouldn’t mind staying up if he did the morning shift......

TheEndIsBillNighy · 07/04/2020 21:05

Yes, always. The only exception is if one of us is ill.

Taylia · 07/04/2020 21:06

Every night unless one of us ill. It’s the only real quality time we get

Yellredder · 07/04/2020 21:31

No. OH goes to sleep earlier than me and 8 year old, as he's up so early for work normally. We sleep separately as I disturbed him coming to bed, daughter disturbed us both coming in in the middle of the night and he disturbed me getting up so early. It was a flipping nightmare!

CMOTDibbler · 07/04/2020 21:34

No, its pretty rare for us as I need a lot more sleep than DH. However he always comes up for a chat when I go to bed

pilates · 07/04/2020 21:37

Yes always

OhNoNoNoNotThatOne · 07/04/2020 21:39

We used to. But dh has been furloughed while I'm wfh. So now I got to bed around 10.30 and am fully unconcious by the time he comes to bed.
It would bother me, but he gets up at 4am with ds so I don't get disturbed and entertains him for the 5 hours I work in the mornings, they do have an hour long nap in that time too 😂

Floralnomad · 07/04/2020 21:41

Very rarely , me and the dog go to bed between 10-10:30 but we then watch the TV , dh comes to bed at about 11-11:30 normally but he then goes to sleep whereas I don’t actually switch off the TV / iPad until about 1 or 2 am .

user1493413286 · 07/04/2020 21:42

No very rarely and I actually struggle to get to sleep now when he does go to bed at the same time. We have very different routines too as I go to bed and spend some time on my phone while he goes to bed and straight to sleep

BeBraveAndBeKind · 07/04/2020 21:43

Yes almost always. It wasn't always the case and used to stay up on the games console, especially when he didn't finish work until very late in the evening.

We've been going at the same time for a few years now and it's really lovely to have that time together. I fall asleep fast but he usually watches something on the ipad or listens to a podcast until he's ready to sleep.

Doggybiccys · 07/04/2020 21:45

Nope - I generally go first except if DH is on early Saturday and Ive just finished my working week. He usually does nights so tends to stay up late and sleep on late even when off whereas I’m usually up with the lark.

EL8888 · 07/04/2020 21:46

No. It depends on our routine the next day and if we are working. We usually do on holiday though

When my parents first got married (they didn’t know each other that well, in that way people often didn’t) they used to argue about this. As my dad was a night owl and my mum was an early bird

Shoxfordian · 07/04/2020 21:47

No but then we don't sleep in the same bed either

MysweetAudrina · 07/04/2020 21:47

Sometimes, maybe on average 3/4 times a week. When he don't its normally dh that stays up later watching the end of a film or some other shite.

nancyjuice7 · 07/04/2020 21:50

Depends, most of the time separately as I go to up to bed at 9 ish to read as it's more comfy and then he'll come up later after watching his programs.
90% of the time go to sleep at the same time though

ILoveJoeBrown · 07/04/2020 21:53

So glad I'm not the only one. I'm falling asleep by 10. In bed by 11. He'll watch shit tv until anytime between 1 and 3am. Then I get up at 7.45 & he'll get up hours later.

He's always complaining that we don't have sex much now. I've tried gently explaining the obvious.Hmm

Cheekywifey · 07/04/2020 21:53

Always yes

mangomama91 · 07/04/2020 21:53

Yes, always go up together and then chat/watch something together in bed and I will most probably fall asleep first though

Ginkypig · 07/04/2020 21:54

Yes nearly always unless I am ill and need to go through early (chronic conditions and more recently migraines too)
We go through at 2am, he drops off almost immediately but doesn't if he goes through any earlier. I on the other hand am a long term insomniac and have pain so don't necessarily fall asleep much at all and unless I have the flu or such never nap in the day either.

Personally I could stay up and just have an hour or two nap when I need it but that's not healthy so this is a good compromise.

Ghostonthedancefloor · 07/04/2020 21:56

Yep.
Almost 13 years together and I can probably count on one hand the times we’ve gone separately.

MrsKoala · 07/04/2020 21:57

Everyone in my house goes to bed at the same time. Usually about 9.30 during school or 10.30 on holidays/lockdown. We say it’s time for bed and turn everything off. Then I take 2 dc into my bedroom and h takes one into his. We swap the dc around so it’s fair and they get to cuddle us both evenly. Grin

DeanHardscrabble · 07/04/2020 21:58

Rarely. I prefer it when he doesn't. I like to fall asleep watching a film on my laptop (no tv in the bedroom). If he comes up too there's no where to put the laptop.

I get up between 6 and 7 usually, whereas he's up until 12:30/1 in the morning working.

It works for us.
