To feel like I want a glass of wine most evenings at the moment

I normally have a glass of wine Thursday/Friday and Saturday. Sometimes one on a Sunday with lunch. A glass is enough for me. I enjoy it and it relaxes me. I'm starting to wonder if I'm getting into a bad habit. I had two nights off last week. I've drunk one glass every night since Thursday. Is anyone else drinking a bit more? It's not to get drunk- something to look forward to

Enjoy it and relax. A glass a night at the moment is really not excessive.

Dreamersandwishers · 06/04/2020 17:23

Cheers Carrottopper. The joy in this house when we found the off-licence delivers....😄

Hg30 · 06/04/2020 17:24

I'm doing the exact same, definitely drinking more at the moment. I look forward to a glass in the evening and there's nothing wrong with it Wine cheers!

Staypositivepeople · 06/04/2020 17:25

I’m the same with pringles ,I could eat a tube a day easily, and just cut back on other foods.
Like you say about the wine ,it’s relaxing
I’m having to not buy any 😢

LittleMcJiggle · 06/04/2020 17:28

Yep! Me too OP. Either glass of wine in the evening or cider outside (in the garden!!) when the weather is nice.

I can't be arsed to feel guilty about it right now.

ilikebooksandplants · 06/04/2020 17:28

Just celebrating that another day in this semi-lockdown is over and done with, I guess!

BillieEilish · 06/04/2020 17:28

Why on earth wouldn't you?

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 06/04/2020 17:29

You are not alone, but I imagine someone will be along shortly to tell you that you're destined for your nearest Betty Ford clinic, so best pour yourself a large one just in case.Wink

devildeepbluesea · 06/04/2020 17:29

Every bloody night. Except it's a bottle,not a glass 😁

I'm going for 3 or 4 booze free days instead of 5 at the mo. If I stick to that I'll be content.

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 06/04/2020 17:30

Me too
But the dementors will be along any second to tell you off no doubt

Newbie1999 · 06/04/2020 17:30

There’s only been a few night in the last couple of weeks when I haven’t had a bottle!

mynameiscalypso · 06/04/2020 17:31

Yup. It gets to about 5pm most evenings and I feel like having a glass. I'm trying to hold off until a Thursday this week. I feel like it just breaks the day up a bit and signals the start of the evening otherwise the days just seem so long.

cheeseismydownfall · 06/04/2020 17:35

We are drinking a lot more. I've never drunk loads, but over the past couple of years both DH and I had cut back from the casual glass-of-wine-every-night-once-the-kids-are-in-bed habit to just one or two nights a week. Since lockdown we are back to having a drink most nights - I'm not sure why, possibly just as a little source of pleasure and to help mark the 'end of the day' now everything is blurred with us both WFH. I imagine there are lots of people in the same boat...

eddiemairswife · 06/04/2020 17:39

I've had a box delivered today, and am looking forward to this evening.

Em3978 · 06/04/2020 17:44

I get to about 4pm and want a glass of wine/G&T.
Thats all I want, just one. But like the OP I only usually drink at a weekend and I'm feeling like i'm 'addicted' to this one drink an evening.

I guess in this general state of anxiety, one glass to chill me out isn' going to hurt. And its a small glass, we don't have large wine glasses....

DianneWhatcock · 06/04/2020 17:45

yep we have been the same

glad not just us!

sunshineanddaffodils · 06/04/2020 17:46

Me too!

bridgetreilly · 06/04/2020 17:46

I totally hear you, OP, and everyone else.

I am trying to remember that this is likely to be months, not weeks, though, and not to establish habits and routines that will actually make the next six months worse rather than better. So I'm doing my best to still eat as healthily as I can and not drink regularly. My best is not very good, mind you, but I think it's worth trying.

TheTurnOfTheScrew · 06/04/2020 17:46

I hear you.
I don't normally drink at home, just when out, as it's the easiest way to moderate. But now the pubs and bars are shut I'm having a glass a night, at least 5 nights out of 7.

Ilikefresias · 06/04/2020 17:51

I hear you! I only usually have a drink at the weekends but wanting a glass every night now Blush

carrottopper · 06/04/2020 17:52

I'm feeling guilty about not doing enough work with the kids, eating unhealthily, anxiety overload. Glad it's not just me. Cheers! X

3pm here. Wine time.

SarahTancredi · 06/04/2020 17:54

Go for it..its about the only thing to look forward to at the moment . Its the reason they didnt close the off license...

wonderstuff · 06/04/2020 17:55

Yep, although I was drinking most nights before. I think at the moment it breaks up the day, its enjoyable, it helps to relax me. Alcohol sales are up 22% . The challenge will be to cut back later. But I'm going to worry about that another day.

managedmis · 06/04/2020 17:55

🍷 Carrottopper we're all in the same boat! Wine
