To feel like I want a glass of wine most evenings at the moment

I normally have a glass of wine Thursday/Friday and Saturday. Sometimes one on a Sunday with lunch. A glass is enough for me. I enjoy it and it relaxes me. I'm starting to wonder if I'm getting into a bad habit. I had two nights off last week. I've drunk one glass every night since Thursday. Is anyone else drinking a bit more? It's not to get drunk- something to look forward to

I'm exactly the same. Nor normally a big drinker but enjoying a gin in the evening at the moment.

Bluntness100 · 06/04/2020 21:31

I think a lot of people are going through this, I usually drink when out or with a takeaway on a sat night, not much, but right now it’s Friday, sat, and Sunday and I’m having to force myself not to have anything during the week.

I actually finished a shitty conf call at about three today and thought, god I really fancy a glass of wine, I didn’t have one, but the fact the thought occurred to me wasn’t good,

It is weird, it’s like normal rules don’t apply.

Cooker goes on for tea wine bottle gets opened here.

BringMeSunshineInMyLife · 06/04/2020 21:46

A glass? You are a saint. A bottle a day here.

cactus2020 · 06/04/2020 21:52

Totally. When I was going out to work I had the no-school-nights rhythm. Working from home I think about a drink every single day at 5pm... Have to make myself have 3-4 days off as I don't have a great off switch. But if you're able to stop at one, nothing to worry about!

FlamingoAndJohn · 06/04/2020 21:52

Fuck yes.
I’ve got enough food to last 3 weeks but I don’t think I’ve got enough wine.
Fortunately our local independent wine merchants delivers.

RozHuntleysStump · 06/04/2020 22:05

Me too. I’m trying to reduce it a bit but I’m not giving myself a hard time over it.

Thisisworsethananticpated · 06/04/2020 23:41

I’ve actually cut down as was over drinking and it made me even more anxious
3 booze free nights! Go me !

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 07/04/2020 00:12

I have a glass every night while I’m cooking. But it’s a fairly small glass, the sort that used to be standard, not one of your half pint jobs.

PurpleTrilby · 07/04/2020 03:38

I remember 7/7 and it made my drinking go through the roof, don't beat yourself up about it. "Enjoy yourself, it's later than you think..."

onanothertrain · 07/04/2020 07:46

I'm limiting myself to alternate nights and only having 1 during the week. Our council have stopped collecting the glass recycling bin so that's a factor as well.

Wannabangbang · 07/04/2020 07:54

Exactly the same hereWineWine i say cheers to another day on earth. Lifes to short

squeekums · 07/04/2020 08:00

I finished tiger king on Netflix.....

AuntieMarys · 07/04/2020 08:04

Drinking 4 nights out of 7 here. Gin. Wine gives me rosacea.

blondehalo · 07/04/2020 08:07

I'd be pissed off if Covid got me and I'd denied myself a glass of wine when I fancied it.

StarlightLady · 07/04/2020 08:28

“A glass”? That’s just one glass, right! Show off Grin!

Chimpd0g · 07/04/2020 08:34

Weirdly I’ve completely gone off alcohol

MaudesMum · 07/04/2020 08:34

I've been drinking most nights since all this started, and it (plus the additional chocolate) has started to have an effect on my waistline. I'm fairly sure its not helping my blood pressure which is already a bit on the high side (although usually well-controlled by medication). So, I'm really trying to cut back this week, as it looks as if obese people, with high blood pressure, don't do very well with this virus. Bloody hard, though!

headlock · 07/04/2020 08:47

I'm trying to avoid wine because it's too easy to guzzle it fast. Instead I'm having a couple of gins whilst cooking. Then a cup of tea after dinner and I'm not too bothered about more gin. It's like others have said, it's relaxing and breaks up the day.

LellyMcKelly · 07/04/2020 08:58

We’ve been following ‘Christmas rules’ since the lock down, but from Sunday we went back to our usual weekends only. Two days in and feeling a bit more awake in the mornings already 😊
