So now we are allowed to visit second homes.......

Is this a case of do what I say, not what I do......
“The Chief Medical Officer in Scotland, Catherine Calderwood, 51, was snapped strolling across a golf course with her husband and kids after flouting lockdown advice by heading to her coastal property this weekend.”

The response from the Scottish Government......
”An SNP Government spokesman replied: “Since this start of this epidemic, the CMO has been working seven days a week preparing Scotland’s response.
“She took the opportunity this weekend to check on a family home in Fife as she knows she will not be back again until the crisis is over.
“She stayed overnight before returning to Edinburgh. In line with guidance she stayed within her own household group and observed social distancing with anyone she was in passing in the village.”

I am sure everyone else who has a second home would like to use it, or check on it, as well! Am I being unfair in thinking this is double standards and an absolute disgrace that this has been defended by a Government spokesman.

The cheek of the excuse of "checking something" which needed a weekend away with a husband, followed by a weekend away with husband and kids.

She came across as looking sorry she was caught more than anything else.

Absolutely unacceptable. She needs sacking. No one person is indispensable.

I am a frontline NHS worker. I have been working my arse off and risking my own health. I have a holiday home. I haven't visited it for a month. I go to work, I go home, I shop once a week.

Ms Calderwood is a fucking disgrace.

I am not interested in what the “Royals” do. They are a bunch of entitled leeches.

I am interested in what the CMO of Scotland says and does! For Sturgeon to defend her, saying we all make mistakes, doesn’t put her in a very good light either!

This wasn’t a mistake, this was a very clear flouting of the guidelines, guidelines that she helped to make. Guidelines that she spouts (or did spout) in an advert many times a day. For someone with her authority to calmly tell everyone that they should only leave their home for essential reasons and to stay at home to save the nhs, to then do something like this is unforgivable and basically dishonest! How can anyone have any faith in her, she needs to go!

People are having to miss funerals on her guidance. Yes, it is shit being stuck in, but we were told it was necessary. As I like to think our CMO doesn't have reckless disregard for the nation's health, I can only assume the stringent laws are actually unneccessary to protect our NHS and we can all afford to bend them a wee bit to suit us. So that is good to know now the weather's so lovely Wink

Health is devolved in Scotland. I hope those who clearly do not know that, do not live in Scotland.

Nah, I see posts everyday from Yes Scotland and the like moaning about health service stuff, they don't have a clue that it's devolved. Also they never seem to mention the extra money given, specifically for the NHS, by David Cameron at one point , that they chose to spend on something else... does my head in.

TWICE! She went two weekends running?. How on earth was that to close the place up? No way she can stay after that revelation, I don't know why the Scottish govt is supporting her. How can she stay with any credibility? It doesn't matter if she is actually quite good at her job, how can you ask the public to follow her advice?

Given that she's also said she and her husband went last weekend, with no mention of the children, that her children are old enough to have stayed home alone. If it comes out she had someone come in and stay with them then her credibility will be shot even more.

Dr Calderwood has been removed as the public face of Scotland's 'stay home' campaign. She won't be at the daily press briefing, and the advert she fronts has been pulled. There's part of me that thinks she should pay for it's replacement after her stupidity, logically I know that's daft.

She needs to be fired by Sturgeon. This stupid stupid women is telling us one thing and sanctimoniously states we should stay at home yet......

I wonder if Sturgeon knew she was travelling around like this. The two of them must be in touch all the time and surely she would know she wasn’t in Edinburgh. Apparently they are working 24/7!!!

Yes, I find it hard to believe people she was working closely with through a crisis wouldn't know her movements over the weekend. If she deliberately kept it secret from them, it's much more than a "mistake".

So he’s not the kids’ dad then presumably? Maybe they were with their dad last weekend so they went to the cottage for a shagathon. Which really is one of those things that you can do in your own house......

Yup. He needs to go too. That youngest child looks quite young. Possibly not old enough to be looked after by his siblings.

Maybe the step-siblings were watching hers?
Nonetheless they both should be fired quick smart.
