To ask if you earn a lot LESS than 50k per year?

On the back of another thread which was asking about £50k + earners (and me being naturally nosy!) I just wonder if there are many on here earning a lot less and wonder what you do for a living?
I’ve been on Mumsnet for years and there does seem to be many very high earners on here with some very interesting careers.
I’m not one of them unfortunately. Dh earns around £35k pa (45 hrs pw) and due to some health issues I only work very part time. We are both in everyday kind of jobs not careers but we are very happy nonetheless.
Anyone else earning an ‘average’ wage in ‘average’ jobs?

I work in an educational admin role 37 hours a week £17,187
Worked like a dog, I enjoyed working with the colleagues but we were expected to do absolutely everything for everyone and got shite from people applying to courses...
Wouldn't recommend 😂

My partner earns £30,000 a year on average as a HGV driver, due to childcare arrangements and it being cheaper for me to be home during the week I work for a pizza delivery company taking phone orders 3 nights a week, I get national minimum wage so just under £300 a month but it pays our gas and electric, and for everything our two daughters need.

Noti23 · 04/04/2020 15:56

Dp earns £19k a year. I’m a stay at home mum to a 15 month old. I’m starting part time work next month (haha) and will get £11k a year.

DieSchottin93 · 04/04/2020 15:57

Hotel receptionist on minimum wage. Only started doing full time hours last month so no idea what my average annual salary is but based on my previous NMW full time hours probably around £12k.

Average UK salary is about £30k ish. I earn more than that, DH earns less. We work out about average income overall. He is an Ambulance driver/care assistant, I do a specialist role within Financial services. we don't need anymore and our terms and conditions are good.

MaryShelley1818 · 04/04/2020 16:04

I'm a Student Social Worker (employed while studying) on 25k, DH is a systems engineer on 40k.
In approximately 2yrs we should bring home about an extra 15k between us.

TravellingSpoon · 04/04/2020 16:10

Oh I forgot I have just had a pay rise of 12p an hour 😩.

NemophilistRebel · 04/04/2020 16:13

DH earns £35k
Job he loves. May earn early £40’s if things don’t go too badly in his industry due to current situation

I earn more but after everything that’s happening right now I’m considering taking a step back and changing to a lower paid role

This may mean that the extension or house move is off the cards but our house is fine and our whole mindset has changed in the past few weeks of what’s important and it’s certainly not bigger houses or more stuff

Warsawa31 · 04/04/2020 16:17

Logistics and planning and I earn 26.5 per year. Only person I know on 50 plus is an engineer at rolls Royce - every other friend is on around the same or less than me

I work for a charity supporting socially isolated older people. I've got a varied role - some admin, some direct support, some partnership working with other agencies - co-ordinating aspects of people's care, for example. It's the most demanding but rewarding work I've ever done, and I earn under £18,000 a year.

emmcan · 04/04/2020 16:24
