Husband has CV I think

hesgotit · 04/04/2020 09:09

Husband is an essential worker, so has been working throughout this, he felt unwell yesterday and overnight has got worse.

Hot
No sense of taste
Aching
Really bad pain below his shoulder blades (which is odd!)
Coughing (not continuous but it's there)
When he was getting out of bed for the toilet last night, lots of groans as it was painful moving.

Clearly called in sick today.

My AIBU is, I am scared and whilst he absolutely does not need medical intervention now, when do I know it's getting worse and he does? I am assuming it will be very obvious?

I'm next to him now and I am probably being over sensitive but his breathing seems louder than usual.

Also, I was due to shop, today, so little food in the house, Iceland can deliver tomorrow to elderly, vulnerable and people self isolating, am I justified to use this, or I have a brother who could go shopping for me possibly.

I for some reason never thought it would be us, but I'm sure lots of people feel that way.

Can anyone say more about the 'Samsung phone test' please?
(I have a Samsung A70)

Hope all is as well as can be in your house this am, OP?

middleager · 05/04/2020 09:52

OldLace do you have Samsung Health app on your phone? It's standard on my S7.

If so, go into that app and it will give you an option to check your stress, measuring heart rate and oxygen levels in blood.

As my oxygen was 92% though, not sure what to think!

middleager · 05/04/2020 09:55

My heart rate 92 and oxygen 83. Heart rate usually that, even when resting, but it can't be correct for Oxygen...

Toastie7 · 05/04/2020 11:17

I think Lightyear is right, the phone just gives an indication but is not a substitute for a proper medical test

hesgotit · 05/04/2020 12:16

He has developed some mouth ulcers today, did anyone else experience this? @iHateJanuary2020 or @DragonMamma

OP posts:
middleager · 05/04/2020 12:21

Yes, but I always get ulcers when I'm low. This stems to my childhood.

Mine usually extend to tongue and throat as well as mouth. I don't use normal Bonjella. I use the one that's about £10 and you dab on to give a protective seal.

Gargling in warm salt water and tip tops/ice lollies bring some comfort.

hesgotit · 05/04/2020 12:40

@middleager he is also prone to them, so it makes sense also. I've no I've lollies but can
Provide the salt water.

I tell you he is really unwell ;not life threatening) this is a dreadful virus!

OP posts:
middleager · 05/04/2020 12:48

Ice cubes will do if you don't have lollies, or iced water. .

I hope he picks up soon. He's lucky to have you there.

I can't say if it's the same, but day 5 here and my throat is nearly better.

Onceateacher · 05/04/2020 13:59

If you have squash you could freeze that in ice cubes too for some flavour

hesgotit · 05/04/2020 17:06

Thanks @Onceateacher I will do that.

A little progress he has eaten a couple of hard boiled eggs (with a little pressure from me!)

Again I'm not scared that his breathing is a problem, I'm still calling him (we are in a town house, so he is two floors up) every two hours.

Hopefully this thread will let others know what to expect.

He's also had lucozade today, next door had some and kindly donated over the garden fence!

Glad your DH has managed some food today OP. I also get mouth ulcers when run down (the joys of Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome). Corsodyl original mouth wash is excellent for ulcers. I get it on prescription, but you can buy over the counter too.

To everyone who mentioned the Samsung Health app - thank you thank you thank you - you've saved me from buying an Oximeter and made my general life as an asthmatic easier. I had a nasty chest infection last year which saw me go to an urgent care centre as I was using my inhaler hourly. If only I'd known my S8 could have told me my oxygen levels then!

DragonMamma · 06/04/2020 13:13

Sorry, just seen this.

I had mouth ulcers but like a pp, I’m prone to them anyway so I didn’t link them to CV more just being run down in general

hesgotit · 06/04/2020 13:16

Thanks @DragonMamma.

Well he thinks he feels a little bit better, still very unwell and in bed. I'm still keeping a very close eye on him. I feel desperately sorry for anyone living alone or single parents etc that have gone down with this.

Everyone else in the house is still well, thank goodness.

DragonMamma · 06/04/2020 13:25

You need to be prepared for the ups and downs of this virus. I had one day (day 6!) where I felt absolutely brilliant. Was dancing around the house and just felt on top of it.

By day 8 I was in hospital after going downhill again on Day 7.

But take the good days when they happen Smile

hesgotit · 06/04/2020 13:39

Thank you @DragonMamma a least that's a heads up!

Please look up the advice from the doctor in Queens hospital
There was a thread yesterday, but I can’t find it now.

Lying down in bed in back isn’t good.

hesgotit · 06/04/2020 13:54

I'll look for that @tulipsrus

Onceateacher · 06/04/2020 13:59

The basics were some breathing exercises do clear your lungs, but also to lie on front NOT back, or to sit upright.

Onceateacher · 06/04/2020 14:00

Exercises to do do clead

Fluffybutter · 06/04/2020 14:42

Does your dh have a high temp?
I’ve had my dd in bed since about 7 last night as she had a high temp and was being sick .
She was ok for about an hour after that but was then was sick again .
Slept fine but sick again this morning and then has been ok since but still a temp .
Ordered a thermometer from Argos (£45!) but waiting to pick it up.
Couldn’t get through to 111.
She doesn’t have a cough at all though which is why it’s so confusing .
She is usually sick when her temp spikes but this is on and off vomiting so not the same .

hesgotit · 06/04/2020 14:45

@Fluffybutter I don't have a thermometer but his back and chest are hot to touch. He's not vomited at all. Hope your DD is better soon.

OP posts:
Fluffybutter · 06/04/2020 14:51

@hesgotit yeah ,dd’s is too .
She hasn’t been out for 3 weeks and neither have I but suppose that doesn’t mean much as dh usually does the shopping once a week (can’t get online slot) just hope it’s a bug then and nothing else.
Hope your dh makes a speedy recovery Flowers

Darbs76 · 06/04/2020 15:20

One of my staff members has CV (we think). She’s been in bed 10 days now, still very breathless. It’s knocked the stuffing out of her. Usually a fit and healthy mid 40 year old. Hope he’s on the mend soon

hesgotit · 06/04/2020 21:21

Ok, tonight I'm getting worried. The PM had been moved to ITU 10 days after contracting CV.

DH was better this morning but worse this evening, doing the breathing exercises and lying on front etc, which is helping.

But I now scared, again I stress he does not need medical intervention but I want to fast forward two weeks and know he's ok.
