To think it's Leavers

Who are dancing on doorsteps, clapping for everyone and their dog, having one-minute-silences for people they've never heard of, inventing #stupid #hashtags, and unquestioningly surrendering themselves to governmental decrees?

OP posts:
itwasalovelydreamwhileitlasted · 04/04/2020 09:42

I'm just wondering if there's a link between sheep-like Covid behaviour and being a Brexiteer,

If anything its the remainers who are "sheep like" anyway after all you are the ones who didn't have the balls to vote for change and a modicum of independence and would rather blindly follow the directives of the 4th Reich.....

daisypond · 04/04/2020 09:44

the leavers were also the ones stockpiling for the Brexit armageddon/apocalypse,
That’s not true. Leavers were the ones saying everything would be fine post Brexit and would definitely not be stockpiling.

Purplequalitystreet · 04/04/2020 09:44

YABU for linking this to Brexit.
YANBU for not wanting to clap etc
YABU for sneering at people who do

Irial · 04/04/2020 09:45

You cant argue with stupid.... they drag you down to their level and beat you with experience

Goingunderground2 · 04/04/2020 09:46

Now is not the time for politics. We need to all be in this together.

Stefoscope · 04/04/2020 09:48

@daisypond, I was being facetious Grin.

LastTrainEast · 04/04/2020 09:48

AliciaJohnson* "unquestioningly surrendering themselves to governmental decrees?" no those are called responsible adults. You may understand when you're older.

Do you run in front of traffic too to show that you don't have to do as you are told?

NoMorePoliticsPlease · 04/04/2020 09:50

HOW DARE YOU. I thought we had done with the MN blame culture, it hasnt taken long to rear its ugly head. The last few days everyone is out, calling neighbours, family, shoppers, coughers, clappers, non clappers, politicians, both by party an individual, docotars receptionists, Interestingly, before Covid there was plenty of NHS abuse, not now. Will you please get it into your head that we are in the middle of a global pandemic. This is not the time for sniping, or were you just thinking of being deliberately goady to get some replies? If so similarly snidy

derxa · 04/04/2020 09:51

I find the clapping for the NHS, whilst at the same time the Govt not providing the tests and the PPE for the exact same staff rather distasteful but TBH the most active community workers i know are 'Leavers......... I'm a Remainer but this isn't the time for bickering about the EU. I'd just like to say that the woman who helps us run our farm is a Brexiteer. She would do anything for anyone. She's night lambing at the moment but still comes in morning and evening to help us and is on the phone through the night. She's the only one there in a massive lambing shed with hundreds of lambing sheep.
I appreciate all the hairy arsed men who keep us going. The feed delivery drivers, the men who pick up the fallen stock, fencers etc etc.
I couldn't give a fuck about how they voted.

dangerrabbit · 04/04/2020 09:51

I’m a remainer but I think we are all in his together and like how the country has come together at this time. Yes people have different opinions (mine is brexit was as stupid and expensive mistake) but there has recently been more a sense of togetherness as people collaborate against the virus and it seems a shame to reignite this division.

Stefoscope · 04/04/2020 09:51

AliciaJohnson* "unquestioningly surrendering themselves to governmental decrees?" no those are called responsible adults. You may understand when you're older. I wouldn't call the Nazi's responsible adults..

heartsonacake · 04/04/2020 09:55

YABU. I’m a leaver and I’m not partaking in any of it.

What you’re saying is nonsense of course and you’re aware of it, you just wanted another thread to bash leavers, but if we’re being truthful, it’s remainers
who exhibit more sheep like behaviour.

TradeMission · 04/04/2020 09:55

You have to bring this up now?

CherryPavlova · 04/04/2020 09:55

I think Brexit ideology is responsible for the lack of equipment.
I think Brexit reduced our staffing numbers significantly, particularly in London.
I think Brexit ‘great British nation’ mentality will see far greater shortages of farm produce in the shops later.

I think jingoism appeals Brexiteers but it’s not only them that are clapping; it’s a way to entertain children, a way to be outside four walls, a way of reacting to national grief and fear.
I suspect those who two or three months ago were moaning that the NHS isn’t fit for purpose or is broken will be clapping wildly and sharing posts about hero’s now.

What the NHS needed was proper resourcing over the past decade and a sensible response to Operation Cygnus in 2014. Sadly, the government didn’t want to invest in pandemic preparations despite the clear warning five years ago.

Figmentofmyimagination · 04/04/2020 09:58

Slightly off topic I do hope this will mean we end up - at least for the medium term - with a Brexit in name only. Brexit feels irrelevant and pointless now.

Chloemol · 04/04/2020 09:58

@AliciaJohnson

If you are so sick of MN then stop reading the posts, leave the site. Stop posting such a load of tosh

It’s Global and how you or anyone else can link it to Brexit is beyond me

NoMorePoliticsPlease · 04/04/2020 10:01

For those that blame Brexit for the NHS funds, I have worked in the NHS for 40 years, this argument over funding has ALWAYS been there, we have always been pressed to do more for less. LONG before Brexit so please, run along

Trajectoryoflife · 04/04/2020 10:03

op Are you ok? Confused

Bouledeneige · 04/04/2020 10:04

I'm a remainer and I am intelligently following government orders because I don't want to cause unnecessary deaths. If you are not following government rules YABVU. And why you had to turn this into a nasty Brexit conflict says more about your diviseness and judgeyness than anyone elses. People are dying FFS.

Trajectoryoflife · 04/04/2020 10:04

@Chloemol absolutely agree!

Leflic · 04/04/2020 10:06

I agree that talking about Brexit feels redundant. What Corinavirus clearly shows is how linked we are to the rest of the world.

TheSandman · 04/04/2020 10:09

Do what? I am a remainer. But I find your argument ridiculous!

This. I'm an arch Remainer. I think leaving the EU is the dumbest thing this country has done since... what? Chamberlain's signing of the Munich Agreement probably.

I see no 'argument' in the question no matter how ridiculous - it's just a dumb assumption which anyone with half an ounce of sense would have left unsaid.

mummmy2017 · 04/04/2020 10:12

Leaver and while I stood at the doorway the other night watching people clap, all I could think of was if we all donated a pound a person to a fund for NHS how much more that would show we all cared.

PrincessHoneysuckle · 04/04/2020 10:15

I'm a leaver and not doing anything sheep like thanks.Hth

YouTheCat · 04/04/2020 10:20

I believe there are twats on both sides of Brexit/Remain.

I am a staunch remainer with no ovine tendancies.
